NEP 2020 Focuses on 'How to Think'- Says PM Modi

PM Modi on August 7, 2020 addressed a conclave on 'Transformational Reforms in Higher Education under National Education Policy', through video conferencing.

The conclave featured the Ministry of Education, University Grants Commission (UGC), Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and academicians and scientists, to discuss various aspects of NEP 2020.

With no discrimination and biases faced by people of any region or community in the NEP, this indicates how long-awaited was NEP, said, PM Modi. He asserted, "The effort is to emphasize inquiry-based, discussion-based, discovery-based, and analysis based methods for children. This will help in increasing class participation."

NEP 2020: Here is what PM Modi said -

The PM emphasized the difficulties faced upon the implementation of NEP 2020 and said that it requires a contribution by all. Everybody has an important role to play and on the political front 'I am with you', said Narendra Modi.
The major objective of implementing NEP 2020 is to make current and future generations 'future-ready'. Our present education system focused on 'What to think' so far, whereas the new policy focuses on 'How to Think'.

With changing global standards, creating a 5+3+3+4 curriculum is an important move.
Over the years, no major changes have been made in the education system, as a result only rat race continued, said PM Modi. He also enlightened the death anniversary of Guruvar Rabindranath Thakur, with his words- "The highest education is that which not only informs us but brings our life in harmony with all existence."

Modi also said that technology has given a new means to reach out to the students standing at the end of society very fast and at very little cost. It should be used more and more.
He also said that every student should have the opportunity to follow their passion. We are moving in an era where a person will not remain in one profession throughout his life and should constantly work on reskilling and up-skilling.
