NEP makes provisions to provide early education in mother tongue

The newly implemented National Educational Policy (NEP) 2020 has emphasized on the availability of early education about the local languages or mother tongue of students. 

Since this was announced, various academicians from all over India have applauded this decision and have considered it a very well-thought move. They all have claimed that this would encourage and facilitate better decision-making skills among individuals. 

The Vice-Chancellor of the Central University of South Bihar, Harish Chandra Singh Rao stated that by instilling the education of one’s mother tongue helps them better comprehend and conceptualize the subject matter. Students will grow in an environment where they have a better idea of what they are being taught.

He also mentioned that it is simpler for us to form a perception when we are learning in our mother tongue because we are already familiarized with it. Being accustomed to the language helps us overcome the first step of the learning process. 

If a student is taught decision-making skills through knowledge that is fundamental and acts as a foundation for communication, that student is likely to make better decisions. 

A student connects automatically with what is being taught if he/she recognizes and understands the mode of communication i.e., the language.
