National Entrance Screening Test (NEST) 2020 was held on September 29, 2020, in two different sessions. Many aspirants who were to take up the exams raised concerns about their safety, the exams were successfully conducted by following the social distancing norms and protocols.
NEST 2020 is jointly conducted by the National Institute Of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhuvaneswar along with the University of Mumbai - Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CEBS). Aspirants who wish to take up the five-year integrated MSc programmes offered by the NISER and the University of Mumbai are required to clear the NEST exams.
The exam centres were sanitized and hand sanitizers were provided during the examination. Aspirants appearing for the exam must reach the allotted exam centres before an hour. However, they were allowed inside the examination hall, only after frisking with a metal detector and checking their body temperature. The aspirants have to show their admit card along with the Government ID to the concerned authority to enter the exam hall.

NEST 2020 Exam Analysis
NEST 2020 was held in two sessions on September 29, 2020. The content of the question paper was broadly taken from the syllabus of Class 11th, 12th, and NCERT books. There were a total of 5 sections and the type was MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions) with 70 questions. The whole question paper consists of 230 marks. NEST 2020 Exam Pattern
NEST 2020 was conducted in online mode by Computer Based Test (CBT) for a duration of 3 hours 30 minutes. The exam pattern was similar to previous years. Aspirants who clear the NEST exam can take up admission in five-year integrated MSc programmes offered by the NISER and DAE-CEBS, University of Mumbai.

NEST 2020 Marking Scheme
There's no negative marking in the general section, but it is applicable to other sections. Tabulated below is the table for the Marking Scheme of the NEST.
| I - General | There are 10 questions which consist of 30 marks. There will be no negative marking for any wrong answers in this section. |
| II - other sections | There are 15 questions that consist of 50 marks in each section. Some questions in these sections might have more than one correct answer and marks can be secured by choosing all the correct answers. These sections have negative marking as well. |
NEST 2020 Result
NEST 2020 results will be declared online on October 10, 2020. However, the answer keys for the same will be released within the next week. The results will be declared in the form of merit lists which will include qualifying score and status of the aspirants.
The aspirants are supposed to keep on checking the website for all important updates. Aspirants who are shortlisted in the NEST merit lists will be called for the counseling process for further admission procedure. Click here for the NEST 2020 Results.
