Nirma BTech Admission: Eligibility and Seat Categories
The 2026 BTech rules required Class 12 Science from a single board, with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science or a technical vocational subject. Gujarat’s 2026 engineering rules required 45% in the prescribed subjects, or 40% for reserved categories.
| Category | Share of intake | Selection and application |
|---|---|---|
| All India | 60% | JEE Main Paper 1 Common Rank List; apply separately to Nirma |
| Gujarat state quota | 25% | Apply through ACPC and follow its merit and counselling rules |
| NRI / NRI-sponsored | 15% | Apply to Nirma under the relevant category and provide NRI documents |
Students who studied in Gujarat can apply for All India seats as well as eligible state-quota seats. For All India admission, Class 12 marks establish eligibility; JEE Main rank decides merit. The university form and the ACPC application are separate.
NRI applicants who passed the qualifying examination abroad can be considered through qualifying-exam merit. NRI applicants educated in India and NRI-sponsored applicants need JEE Main under the 2026 rules. Sponsored applicants must also provide proof of the sponsor’s NRI status and an undertaking to pay the course fees.
Nirma BTech Counselling and Seat Allotment
Applicants enter branch preferences in the Nirma BTech admission portal. Allotment depends on merit, the order of choices and available seats. The portal then asks applicants to choose a response for admission or reshuffling.
Missing that response can remove the applicant from counselling. In the 2026 process, taking no action led to the default exit option. Students accepting a seat must pay within the round’s deadline and report with original documents when called for verification. An allotment alone does not complete admission.
Nirma MBA Admission 2027–28
Applicants need a minimum three-year bachelor’s degree with 50% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA. Final-year students can apply, but must complete all graduation examinations before the MBA begins and provide proof of eligibility within three months of joining. Failure to meet the requirement leads to withdrawal from the programme.
The All India category uses CAT 2026. Shortlisted applicants attend a personal interview and a Theme Development and Presentation round, where they discuss and present their ideas on a given topic. The final score uses the following weights.
| Component | Weight |
|---|---|
| CAT score | 60% |
| Personal interview | 20% |
| Theme Development and Presentation | 10% |
| Academic performance | 10% |
Relevant full-time work experience can add up to ten points. Within the academic score, pre-final graduation marks carry 50%, Class 12 marks 30% and Class 10 marks 20%. NRI-sponsored applicants also need CAT 2026; GMAT consideration is available to eligible overseas categories, including NRI applicants, under their separate rules.
The regular MBA has 300 seats: 180 All India General, 45 NRI/NRI-sponsored and 75 through Gujarat state quota. MBA in HRM has 30 seats. The institute and ACPC manage their respective applications.
For context, the 2026 MBA shortlist cutoff was 81 CAT percentile, or 80 percentile with at least two years of relevant work experience. MBA-HRM used 75 percentile. These were based on CAT 2025 and do not establish the cutoff for admission in 2027.
Nirma Law Admission 2027–28
Nirma offers five-year BA LL.B. (Hons.), BBA LL.B. (Hons.) and BCom LL.B. (Hons.), with 180, 120 and 60 seats respectively. Applicants need 45% aggregate in Class 12. General and NRI-sponsored admission uses CLAT 2027 rank.
Students must submit the Nirma law application in addition to the CLAT form. The fee is ₹2,500 for each category. An NRI-sponsored application does not automatically enter the General merit list; applicants seeking both must submit and pay for both forms. Genuine NRI applicants follow separate provisions.
Integrated BBA-MBA and BTech-MBA Admission
The 2026 integrated BBA-MBA process required 60% in Class 12. All India applicants used IPMAT conducted by IIM Indore. Selection gave 50% weight to IPMAT, 30% to the interview and 20% to Class 12 marks. The programme had separate All India, Gujarat and NRI categories.
For the five-year BTech-MBA, applicants needed 60% with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, passed at the first attempt from one recognised board. The 2026 All India selection used JEE Main, an interview and academic performance. Nirma offers this course with CSE and Mechanical Engineering. The 2027 selection dates and rules for these integrated courses are still due.
Nirma BCom, BPharm, BArch and BDes Admission
| Course | Eligibility and selection |
|---|---|
| BCom (Hons.) | 60% in Class 12; English plus Accountancy, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics or Mathematics. Selection uses Class 12 merit. |
| BPharm | ACPC fills 85% of seats using Class 12 and GUJCET merit. The institute handles NRI seats and any approved vacant-seat process. |
| BArch | At least 45% in an eligible Class 12 subject combination or a three-year diploma with Mathematics; valid NATA score. Separate All India and ACPC applications. |
| BDes | 50% in Class 12 or an accepted 10+3 diploma. NU-DET or UCEED is followed by a situation test and interview. |
For BDes in 2026, the entrance score carried 50%, the situation test 30% and the interview 20%. Applicants could bring a portfolio of up to ten creative works. The selection process therefore required preparation for the practical test and discussion as well as the entrance exam.
Nirma MTech, MCA, MSc and MPharm Admission
MTech gives priority to eligible GATE-qualified applicants. If seats remain, non-GATE applicants can be considered through Nirma’s written test. The qualifying engineering degree must match the chosen specialisation.
MCA admission through Gujarat state quota follows ACPC and the applicable entrance requirements. MSc Biotechnology and Microbiology require at least 50% in an accepted science, life-science, medical or related degree and use the institute admission process. MPharm has ACPC and institute-level seats; institute applicants can use GPAT, with a separate process for non-GPAT candidates.
Nirma Part-Time PhD Admission: December 2026
Part-time PhD applications opened on 17 October 2026 and close on 30 November. The application fee is ₹1,250. The entrance test is tentatively planned for the second week of December 2026. It covers research methodology and the subject area equally, with 50% required to qualify.
Applicants with valid qualifying UGC-NET, CSIR-NET, GATE or GPAT scores can receive an entrance-test exemption under the PhD admission rules. They still attend the interview. The final merit gives 70% weight to the written-test component and 30% to the interview.
Nirma Application Fees and Documents
For MBA admission in 2027, the application fee is ₹1,600 for General applicants and ₹4,500 for NRI/NRI-sponsored applicants. Regular BTech applicants paid ₹350 in 2026 if their qualifying school was in Gujarat, Diu, Daman or Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and ₹1,200 if it was elsewhere. These amounts are separate from course fees.
Applicants need the relevant marksheets, entrance result and category documents. BTech students must upload pending documents and branch choices by the counselling deadline. Law applicants need migration documents where applicable; NRI-sponsored applicants need the sponsor’s documents. Selected students should follow the payment and verification dates in their own offer. See Nirma University fees for academic and hostel payments.
