The National Medical Commission (NMC) has released the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2026-27 seat matrix on its official website at nmc.org.in. The Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of NMC issued the seat position on September 29, 2026. The matrix lists 63,177 postgraduate medical seats across India for the upcoming academic session. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will use this data for the All India Quota counselling.

The total tally reflects an increase of 5,827 seats over the previous academic year. Karnataka leads the country, followed by Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. The matrix covers MD, MS and PG Diploma courses at government, private and deemed medical institutions.

Who Will Conduct the NEET PG 2026 Counselling?

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will handle counselling for the 50 percent All India Quota (AIQ) seats. The respective state counselling authorities will manage the remaining 50 percent state quota seats.

The MCC will open its Round 1 registration portal for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) candidates on October 1, 2026. Other categories will follow according to the regular AIQ counselling schedule.
