New Delhi: The National Medical Commission (NMC) observed that 1,04,891 students studying the MBBS Course includes several students who were admitted at the college level. NMC has made it very clear that the medical institute has to pay a fine for illegal admission as it violates the rules and regulations set by The National Medical Commission (NMC) and the admission would be canceled.
The official notification by NMC states “It is informed that even though such students whose names are reflected in the final list of 1,04,891 admitted in MBBS Couse for the year 2023-24, the admission will still be canceled at the later stage once the verification of admission process is completed by the NMC.”

NMC has clearly stated that the rounds of counseling for all seats will be held only online mode and by State or Central Counselling Authorities. Medical colleges must mention the fees for each medical course while entering the details in the Seat Matrix. It was further clarified in the letter that the institutions/colleges are not allowed to conduct the counseling, including the stray vacancy round.
Regulations 15 and 16 of Chapter III of the Graduate Medical Education Regulation, 2023 specify that “The Government of India will appoint a designated authority for common counseling, and medical institutions that violate these regulations will not be permitted to admit candidates to the Graduate Medical Education course. The Commission also stated that in addition to the aforementioned, a punishment clause is also included for the colleges that are found to be in breach of these rules.”
