Pandemic Management to be integrated into MBBS Programs across medical colleges

Students in India pursuing the MBBS course will now also study pandemic management as a subject. This aims to prepare future doctors for overcoming the challenges faced during a widespread pandemic such as the COVID-19

Along with other subjects in the MBBS course, students will also be taught about how to manage the legal as well as socio economic aspects of management during a pandemic situation. This will be part of a new module in the MBBS program which will equip medical students to be better prepared as future doctors.

The BoG superseding the Medical Council of India also mentioned that the objective of the module is to prepare students to be medical professionals who are socially conscious and serve humanity with utmost discipline as a doctor. 

The new addition to the course will help future doctors to be better prepared with a plan of action in the possible event of a pandemic. Pandemic Management has been conceived acknowledging the many challenges faced by medical personnel during COVID-19. 

The module has been designed by a team of experts as well as the academic cell of the Medical Council of India. It will soon be adopted by medical institutes across the country
