Puducherry Schools To Reopen for Half Day from October 8; Check Details Here

The Government of Puducherry has given permission to reopen schools for Class 9th and above from October 8, 2020. The classes will be conducted only for half-day on all six days of a week until further notice.

As per the schedule announced, for Classes 9 and 11students, classes will be conducted on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Whereas students studying in classes 10 and 12, will have to attend the classes on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The classes are held only for doubt clarification and guiding purpose and attendance will not be made mandatory.

Students have to bring a letter of consent from their parents in order to attend the classes. The offline classes will be conducted between 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. 

Earlier the officials mentioned that schools will reopen from October 5, 2020. However, Rudhra Goud mentioned that school will not be opened on October 5 since certain preparatory works such as cleaning the premises are to be done. Read More

He also stated that transportation facilities will not be provided by schools to students. The noon meal scheme will also not be operated due of the COVID 19 crisis keeping in mind the safety concerns of the students.

Puducherry Schools Reopening Guidelines

Though the government has announced to reopen the schools for doubt solving sessions, there are certain guidelines the students should follow. Students from the containment zone are not allowed to go to schools; only students from the containment free zone are permitted inside the school campus.

If a student or any family member of the student is affected by COVID 19 or face any symptoms of COVID 19, then the student should not come to school.

All the students willing to attend classes should have written consent letters from their parents. Only then, students will be allowed to attend the classes. The letter of consent should be in the format brought out by the department. 

Puducherry Schools Precautionary Measures

To minimize the spread of COVID-19, schools are all set to follow the below mentioned precautionary measures:

• A preliminary health check up is done for all the students. Students will be allowed to attend the classes only after the preliminary health check up with a thermal scanner is done.
• Sanitizer will also be provided to all the students. Students will be allowed inside the school only after cleaning their hands with sanitizers.
• Wearing a mask is compulsory for all the students. Students without masks will not be allowed inside the school. Students are to be seated maintaining the social distancing norm.
