One of the aspired programs in India is MBA. Many students from different backgrounds plan to pursue management and get good packages. There are many top colleges like IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, FMS, etc., which is a dream of many students, so to get admission into such prestigious institutes the common goal that I have to clear is CAT and it's not easy to clear CAT with good percentile without a proper plan and preparation.

SET THE GOAL

So, firstly must decide when you have to give the exam e.g., if you are a 1st-year graduate student, then you have two years or if you have just three months. This will mainly decide your overall plan. So let’s say you have 1 year time to appear for the exam. Also, you should establish the target colleges and the CAT percentile that you are targeting. The targets should be realistic. It's everybody’s dream to crack IIM Ahmedabad but make it realistic if once set, be determined to achieve the same.

RESEARCH ABOUT THE CAT EXAM

Research the CAT exam's syllabus, course structure, and exam pattern. Now you must choose between self-study and lessons. If you want to attend classes, study the best online/offline coaching, read reviews, question prior students, etc. This will help you in the future. The most important thing is to connect with as many students who are preparing and have passed the CAT. They will help you.

PREPARATION

So, till now, you have learned about how to proceed. Now comes the main game of preparation so let’s understand how to prepare. Now break the full course into small parts, if you have joined the coaching then they must do the same for you. As there are 3 major sections Verbal, Quants and DI LR. Now further bifurcate them into small parts.

So, the first 5 - 6 months should be given for the study material given by the institute or self, with 1-2 hours given every day for all three sectors together.

So, the next four months should be spent on practice and mocks, which is the most important part of the plan because it shows your understanding of concepts. Give as many mocks as you can and solve past year questions, and then take an hour to analyze them to see where you need to improve. Don't be discouraged by the early poor scores—consistency will help you manage time, lessen exam anxiety, and revise. And the last 1 month should be given to just revisions of the concepts.

So, this plan was prepared by taking 1 year but don’t worry all the steps and elements will remain the same, the time given to study will increase or decrease based on time available whether you have 6 months or 3 months the plan will remain same just the time given to each part.
