Among the topics deducted from the Hindi syllabus class XII are the lesson 'Ninda Ras' by satirist Harishankar Parsai and Maithili Sharan Gupt's repentance song of Kaikeyi.
Class XII history syllabus omitted the Harappan civilization and partition—past and ethnicity, sectarianism and division of 1940 in 'division based on physical sources.'
The UPSEB also eliminated the U.S. supremacy of international affairs, stability in the modern world, and globalization that was part of the "Modern World Affairs" chapter.
The deduction has been done to account for the academic losses incurred by Covid-19, said UPSEB Secretary Divya Kant Shukla.
"The cut was rendered in syllabus only. We also omitted the topics from the tests and not from the textbooks. So, to test the deleted ones is up to the students, "Shukla said.
The UPSEB, added Shukla, has tried hard to maintain significant and appropriate subjects.
For example, if there were four Suryakant Tripathi 'Nirala' poems in the Hindi textbook, we kept two, and removed the other two from the syllabus this year, he explained.
The 30 per cent of the syllabus omitted from the syllabus of Class X civics contains material on topics of democracy, caste, religion and sex.
In mathematics this year, students do not discuss chapters such as circle, probability, certain aspects of trigonometry, parallel series, and polynomials.
Speak about English for Class X graduates, and prose - Torch Bearers and Our Indian Music, and RW Emerson's poem, 'The Nation Builders'.
Supplementary reading, ‘My Greatest Olympic Prize’ by Jesse Owens too is omitted. From the class 10 social science syllabus, information about major national parties and regional parties of India have been removed.
To class X students, the science exam won't include questions about metal and non-metal properties, grouping of elements into the periodic table, electromagnetic effects, electrical effects, natural resources and our climate.
Poems by Indian authors – 'Varsha Sundari' by Mahadevi Varma, 'Chandralok me pratham baar' by Sumitranandan Pant, 'Jawani' by Makhanlal Chaturvedi, 'Nadi' by Kedarnath Singh, 'Yuva Jungle' by Ashok Vajpeyi – were taken off from class X Hindi syllabus.
