West Bengal MBBS Seats Increased to 4000, Announced CM Mamata Banerjee

As per the announcement made by West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, the number of seats for the MBBS programme has increased to 4,000 in the state medical colleges. There are 250 seats added to medical colleges of the state.

The state has also initiated the first MBBS batch in Purulia Govt. MCH. It will consist of 100 seats and additional 150 seats in Gouri Devi Medical College.

CM Banerjee also posted on social media to raise awareness among the students regarding the increment of MBBS seats. In a Twitter post she mentioned, "I am pleased to announce that we have 4,000 MBBS seats for Bengal's vibrant medical students with the initiation of the first MBBS batch in Purulia Govt. MCH consists of 100 seats and the addition of 150 MBBS seats in Gouri Devi Medical College."

Chandrima Bhattacharya, Minister of state for health also informed that there were 1355 MBBS seats in WB when the government came into power in 2011.

The directorate general health services will be conducting NEET 2020 Counselling for 15% of total seats from the government colleges except for the students from Jammu and Kashmir for All India Quota candidates.

The dates for NEET Counselling 2020 are not out yet. However, it is expected to be released anytime soon on the official website of the Medical Counselling Committee.
