Apart from the above-mentioned courses, the university offers a variety of programs under diverse specializations.
IIT Bhubaneswar is among the top engineering colleges in India. According to the NIRF Rankings it is placed at 17th in the engineering category. The Electrical Engineering program offered by IIT Bhubaneswar is good both in terms of academics and placements.
The eligibility criteria for EE is aggregate marks of 75% in 10+2. The selection for admission is done based on the performance of the student in JEE Advanced. In 2019 the JEE Advanced closing cutoff for EE at IIT Bhubaneswar was 2276-8787 (general category). The fees for the first-year is INR 2.14 LPA.
At present, the School of Electrical Science at IIT Bhubaneswar has 33 full-fledged laboratories well-equipped with modern instrumentation. The School has excellent faculties and most of them hold PhDs in their respective disciplines.
Electrical engineering has maintained a steady placement of 86% for the last three years. In 2019, 87% of the students from EE got placements in many top MNCs. The average CTC offered was INR 15.8 LPA, while the highest was around INR 43.3 LPA. MNCs like Deloitte, TCS, Capgemini, Goldman Sachs, etc. participated in the placement drive.
IIT Bhubaneswar is a second generation IIT but despite that fact, it’s doing quite well in terms of placement. According to NIRF Rankings 2020, the institute ranks at 22 among the engineering colleges in India.
The placement statistics of 2019 suggest 89% of students from the civil engineering department got placed. Even though it’s the popular belief that there is not much scope for civil engineering in India and most students prepare for non-core placement from the very first year of their engineering degree. In IIT Bhubaneswar this is not the case, as 70% of the students from the civil engineering department get core placemats. The average salary package offered during placement is 10 LPA. The highest salary package offered went up to 39 LPA in 2019.
Some of the top companies like Amazon, Adobe, Accenture, Gupta Solution, Flinto Solution, Honeywell, ISRO, IOCL, Jindal Stainless Ltd, KEC International, KIIT, L&T construction, L&T Ltd, Microsoft, MathWorks, Mastercard, PNB Metlife, TATA steel, TATA Advance System, Thermax, TESCO recruited students from IIT Bhubaneswar last year.
If we talk about statistics and past records, IIT Bhubaneshwar is a better choice.
IIT’s have the best faculties in the country. The level of research work and the flexibility IITs provide is exceptional. The companies that come for placement purposes are also distinguished from other colleges. The infrastructure at IIT Bhubaneshwar is developed and the campus is very well sustained for overall development.
Since Electrical Engineering has been from the start of IIT BBS, placements are great there. The placements for the early years were not that great but for the last 2 years, the situation is incrementing. In 2019 the placement rate for EE at IIT Bhubaneswar was 86%. The highest package went around 39 LPA by Adobe.
Placements at BITs Hyderabad have been relatively lower with median CTC around 5 LPA and the highest CTC around 14 LPA. Around 94% of the students got placed from the campus last year.
Both the brands are prominent ones, but the level of exposure and opportunities that you will get at IIT Bhubaneshwar may overpower that of BITS Hyderabad.
I think I am qualified to answer this question as I graduated from IIT Madras Aeronautics department and I am working for Boeing in the USA.
You should choose IIT Madras due to following reasons:-

IIT Bhubaneswar is one of the most promising new IITs. One advantage of new IITs over older ones is that the number of students is lower, so teachers will know you by name and it will feel like a close-knit family. You'll be surprised to learn that newer IITs have better placement statistics because they are more focused on placement, as opposed to older IITs, which are more focused on research to improve their world rank. Dual degree programs are also an option because at the end of five years, you will have two degrees, and if you go abroad for a second master's degree, you will have completed some of the courses in your fifth year.
So you'll complete your master's degree in less than 18 months. So you'll have an extra degree for only six months more. So dual degree programs are fantastic. For God's sake, it's an IIT. Take a chance.
It does not matter how much time you have before the exam. It is about planning your preparation, covering the topics, and revising them. You need to utilize the one month in your hand very efficiently.
As you are about to give the MET, it implies that you have just cleared your board exams. You do not need to do anything extra but just be thorough with whatever you have studied.
You just need to practice well for the numerical and keep your basics clear. Do not waste much time on anything new.
The cut-offs vary greatly every year according to the merit list so do not rely much on the previous years’ cut-offs. Just make every topic in your mind clear theoretically and put in some smart work such as managing time and building some strategies and you will do very well in the exam.
There are three ways you can get admission to the Heritage Institute of Technology. Which are as follows.
One of my friends got admission to HIT in Mechanical Engineering through JEE Mains. His rank was 58k, and he was almost the last candidate for JEE Mains quota.
With a rank of 75k, you may get branches like Biotechnology but you are not likely to get into branches like CSE.
So, wait for the WBJEE counseling to begin. HIT gives more admission through WBJEE.
