What is it like to study in MIT (Madras Institute of Technology)?
MIT has been one of the best experiences for my cousin’s sister. It is a place to learn, grow and develop fond memories. Following are some unique things about MIT -
- India's 11th president and aerospace scientist Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam used to teach here at MIT and won the heart of each student.
- The support of seniors is priceless. During your first year, you will be constantly guided and supported by your seniors and this will inculcate a sense of goodwill in you as well towards your juniors in return.
- The faculty is extraordinary. Not all but those few who are, are so good at the subjects they teach and ways in which they offer support that you'd remember them all your life. One such honorable mention is Prof Jothilingam of PT. The way he helped students with studies and opportunities was unparalleled.
- Then comes the MITAFEST. One of the most loved and awaited college fests of the year. When the events begin, you'll feel all immersed in the celebration and festivities which follow. Definitely a recipe for delectable memories in the future.
The campus is serene and compact, it's not the largest, nor are there thousands of students. Rather you'll find yourself in a close-knit community.
How good are the placements of IIIT Allahabad for an M.Tech? (Not a B.Tech)
Yes, any M.Tech person who is looking for placement is going to find one. Any person with an M.Tech background is pretty easily placed in brilliant companies like Goldman Sachs, Qualcomm, 1mg, Flipkart, Amazon, Daily Hunt, Razorpay, Swiggy, Phillips, etc. In case you are curious even in the least bit about your CTC, you need not worry as the highest CTC went up to 34 LPA. This was grabbed by people with an M.Tech background.

Also, you will have better chances if you have great coding skills and knowledge concerning all your technical subjects. This can help you get placed pretty easily in any of these brilliant companies mentioned above.
Having said that, you should also keep in mind that there are companies that reject people with an M.Tech background. NITs or IITs too, do not always accept people with an M.Tech background.
Nevertheless, you would come across heaps of opportunities where you can showcase your skills and impress the panel.
What is your daily schedule in IIIT Hyderabad?
My uncle is a faculty member at IIIT Hyderabad. He resides at the IIIT Hyderabad campus itself and his office is a 7 minute walk from his residence. This is a breakdown of his activities-
- He reaches the office at around 10 am if he has no class for the day. On days that he does have a class, he prefers to prepare for it at home, in a distraction free setup. Faculty members usually handle 1 to 2 courses per semester, and rarely more than 3 courses per year.
- He prepares for around 5 hours for a 1.5 hour lecture, unless he has taught the topic twice before. He has to teach for 2 days a week.
- Apart from this, he holds meetings with his students. He holds typically 1-2 meetings that are 1.5 hours long, mostly on non-teaching days.
- On an average, half an hour of his day goes into faculty meetings, committee meetings, etc.
- Another half an hour (on an average) a day is spent in preparing quizzes and problem sets for his classes.
- Occasionally, proposal writing and paper evaluation demand his attention.
- He devotes an average of 2 hours a day to work on his research problems and on his students’ problems. On days that he is free from other commitments, he devotes more time to problem solving work.
- Other than these 6-7 hours of work a day, he spends the rest of his time in leisure and fun activities and exercising.
- It's a general breakdown of his activities rather than a strict daily schedule. Faculty members have a weekly rather than a daily schedule.
Thus, as a faculty member at IIIT Hyderabad, my uncle’s days are quite busy and productive.
How is the BBA course at Lovely Professional University?
I say LPU is a good choice for doing BBA because of the following reasons:
- LPU’s Business School is ACBSP accredited, its a US based organization which provides accreditation services to business school all around the world, so you are getting a degree accredited by USA.
- Students are placed at esteemed organizations like The Royal Bank of Scotland, Trident and many more.
- BBA program at LPU focuses on case based teaching than just theory classes. They also conduct activities, seminars, business workshops, etc.
- LPU has study abroad programs. They offer you a chance to complete your degree in USA, Australia or Canada. You can go for student exchange programs on scholarships by paying nominal fees.
Which topic is the most important for the CSIR UGC NET in life sciences?

Acharya Institute of Technology, located in Bangalore, is known for its good placement record. What is a good CGPA in Anna University?
There is nothing called a good CGPA. CHPA depends on what you are willing to do afterwards.
For a job: As far as placements are concerned, anything above 7 or 7.5 will fetch you a decent job. 8+ will get you even better jobs in flagship companies.
For higher studies: If you want to pursue higher studies, much more is considered than just CGPA. Some of these factors are 10 and 12 marks, GPA and work experience.
So an 8+ GPA will get you both a good job and colleges. But it’s not the sole factor. It all comes down to how much efforts you are willing to put.
What are the pros and cons of dual degree at IIIT Hyderabad?
I am listing below separately, the pros and cons of joining the dual degree program at IIIT Hyderabad-
Pros-
- If you are interested in research, a dual degree is a great option, be it for industry or academics.
- You will be exposed to quality research as early as your 3rd year. You will suddenly relate to what is being taught and start enjoying the experience.
- You will get a chance to publish your work in reputed conferences and journals and attend national and international conferences. DD students at IIIT Hyderabad publish as early as the third year in collaboration with international researchers.
- You may get to collaborate with leading universities and can even intern with the same researchers. This way your internship will be related to and relevant to your research work.
- Getting a Ph.D. from foreign universities is easier because you will have extensive experience in research and publications. IIIT Hyderabad DD students go to prominent universities in the US and UK for their PhDs.
- Getting into R&D teams also gets easier, especially today, when most R&D teams prefer Masters students rather than B.Tech students.
Cons:
- Do not choose DD if you wish to go for S/W jobs and not research in the future.
- The course duration for DD (B.Tech+MS) may extend beyond 5 years because MS is research and outcome-based, and not time-based like M.Tech. Earlier the average time for completing DD was 6 years which has come down to 5.5 years in recent years.
- It is difficult for a 12th pass out to assess whether or not they will like research.
Thus, it is up to you to choose DD at IIIT Hyderabad. However, if you do plan to go into research, DD program is the ideal choice for you and IIIT Hyderabad is the ideal institution.
How is the placement at SRM University, Chennai?
SRM University Chennai also known as SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRM IST) offers good placement opportunities for students. The average package of SRM University is INR 7.92 LPA for placements 2023-24. The average package increased by 15.11% in 2024 compared to 2023 (INR 6.88 LPA).
Around 700+ recruiters hire students from SRM Chennai including big company giants like, IBM, Infosys, Honey Well, Air Asia, Aditya Birla Group, Hindustan Unilever Limited, Hyundai, Apollo, etc. The highest package of SRM University Chennai is INR 52 LPA (2023-24 Placements). Last year, the highest package was INR 57 LPA.
The university conducts various activities for student’s career development and skill enhancement like job fairs, pre-placement talks, panel discussions, presentations, meetings, webinars, seminars, workshops, etc.

What should I know about MTech life at IISc, Bangalore?
The life of an MTech student at IISc is pretty busy and challenging. Students are given broad exposure to a wide variety of disciplines. The coursework is rigorous and helps you become proficient in a particular discipline through thesis research. My sister completed her ME in Microelectronic Systems from IISc last year and shared her experience of the same.
The first semester was very challenging and tiring as she had to complete 36 credits in all. She was advised to complete 5 credits in the first semester which wasn’t easy as most courses have assignments and projects.
The curriculum at IISc is flexible and students are given freedom in course choice. So apart from the core courses, students can take courses from any department be it Genetics, Molecular Biology, or Physics.
The students are assigned research advisors by the end of the first semester so they have to get in the good books of the faculty members they wish to work under.
The campus is serene with the best amenities one could ask for. The sports facilities are also great including TT, Soccer, Cricket, Hockey, Swimming, etc. The food served is of good quality and midnight cravings are catered to by coffee shops and fresh fruit juice stalls operate really late into the night to serve the late-night cravings of the graduate students.
Her overall experience as an MTech student at IISc Bangalore was challenging and rewarding at the same time.
