How one can prepare for UPSC while studying in Delhi University?

GR
Gauri Rao Posted On : November 8th, 2021
studied B.A. Prog in Economics and Political Science, University of Delhi (2021)

With the presence of like-minded people, Delhi University offers the best exposure on campus. You will be interacting with experts from various fields and you should make the most of it.

It is important to keep yourself updated with current affairs. Do not bulk things up and start studying on a daily basis. You can focus fully on UPSC preparation as DU gives less attention to attendance.

The syllabus for UPSC requires a basic knowledge of topics from History, Economics, Political Science, Environmental Science. For this, the best suitable program will be BA Programme to study at DU.

If you have enrolled in any other subject, then you should start studying topics from NCERT and current affairs. Apart from this, joining a coaching institute will always be an option but self-study is more important.

Suborno Chaterjee Posted On : September 8th, 2023
B.Tech Mechanical Engineering, National Institute of Technology Durgapur (2017)

As a Mechanical Engineering student at NIT Durgapur, I am listing down some important points about my branch-

  1. Mechanical has a busier schedule than the other branches.
  2. Some professors of Mechanical are good while some are rude.
  3. Mechanical students get more assignments. This branch will demand a lot of hard work from you.
  4. You can easily score well in Mechanical. However, you’ll have to manage your time well if you are planning to study for competitive exams side by side.
  5. You’ll face 25-hour lectures in a week, and extra classes will also be arranged.
  6. B.Tech Mechanical recorded 84.05% placements during 2023. The students were placed at an average CTC of 9.72 LPA.

As per my personal experience, you can definitely consider B.Tech Mechanical from NIT Durgapur.

Which is best for CS out of NSIT, DTU, and BITS Pilani?

TA
Tithi Aggrawal Posted On : July 6th, 2023
Lives in New Delhi

DTU and NSIT have a number of reservation policies like caste, Delhi quota, and numerous sub-quotas, so the quality of the crowd is average. Anyone who gets to choose BITS Pilani instead will never choose DTU and NSIT. BITS Pilani accepts admission solely on the basis of merit and thus the crowd quality is superior to that of DTU. Sparing the locational factor, BITS has an upper hand in every aspect. Moreover, it’s the only institute to enjoy global recognition apart from IITs.

Specifically talking about CS, the number of Google Summer of Code selections from there is a testament to the credibility of the CS branch here. If you look at the bigger picture and compromise on the location, you will be gaining much more than Delhites.

How is the food at NIT Trichy mess and nearby locality?

AB
Animesh Banerjee Posted On : March 23rd, 2021
B.Tech from National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India (2020)

Mess food at NIT Trichy is decent enough. My friend is a student there. From what I heard, I can assure you that you will not be disappointed. There are separate North Indian and South Indian messes ( both Veg and Non-Veg) for the students of 2nd year onwards. Also, you can change your mess after the end of a month.

  • Meals are provided 4 times a day as breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner. You also get a facility of taking extra varieties of food items by paying some extra money other than normal mess fees. Extra items include Chicken Biriyani, Chicken Fried Rice, Chicken 65, Mushroom Masala, Kadai Paneer, Gobi Manchurian, etc.
  • Usually, messes are run by different caterers. And their future depends on the feedback given by students. You will be expected to give feedback every month without fail regarding food quality, quantity, and cleanliness.
  • Also, there is a very strict mess committee under the supervision of the Hostel Convenor and Warden. Student representatives have the ultimate power to change the mess menu every month according to your demand. You’ll often see them making surprise visits inside kitchens to ensure hygiene and food quality.
  • You can also get your food from canteens with superior food quality. NIC, Chennai Bekary, Neelkesh, IIM Canteen, Night Canteen, Avin, Vasantham, Buhari Canteen are quite popular among students.
  • There are also some food joints outside the campus. During every fest, food coupons are provided to you which gives you an opportunity to taste from food stalls outside, including KFC, Dominos, MacDonald, etc.

All in all, mess and nearby localities are enough to provide you ample food varieties. Whether you belong to any part of the country, you can get food of your choice easily.

How good is Ambedkar University as compared to Delhi University?

AB
Amit Bansal Posted On : January 18th, 2022
studied at University of Delhi

Ambedkar University is comparably better. It has a superior faculty base. The student-teacher ratio of the university is also lower, so each student gets more attention. Instead of traditional examinations, the institute evaluates students using innovative and more layered techniques. You will love to take part in those tests. For most disciplines, the curriculum is good.
