What is the level of IIIT Allahabad as compared to the IITs and NITs?

SJ
Shivani Jha Posted On : March 19th, 2021
Studied at Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad (2019)

We can compare IIIT Allahabad with other IITs and NITs in many levels, like Infrastructure, faculty, overall performance, The quality of the students, etc. The following are some of the things, when compared to IITs and NITs shows us the difference.

  1. Infrastructure: IIIT Allahabad is a newly built institution, whose infrastructure is as good as other IITs and NITs. The institute has good lab facilities, classrooms, a beautiful campus, and well-built hostels.
  2. Faculty: IIITA is still a new institution, and lacks professional and skilled faculties. However, there are several young faculty teaching in the institute and in coming years it will become one of the placements of top NITs.
  3. Placement: IIITA placement cell cannot be compared to other top IIITs. The IIITA records do show good average placement, but it is not the scenario of all the branches. However, placement of IIITA is somewhat equal to CS of NITs, as IIITA has a strict placement policy.
  4. Environment: IIIT Allahabad has a decent student environment. It has some 1% of JEE Mains toppers enrolled. Which is definitely lower than IITs, as in other IITs admission done through the JEE Advanced. But IITA level is equivalent to other top NITs, including Warangal, Trichy, Surathkal.
  5. Research: There is no such research work named IIIT Allahabad. But research works are improving by the institute. However, it is equivalent to NITs. But still not with IITs.
  6. Sports and Culture: The Sports and Culture activities on the IIIT Allahabad campus is not good as compared to other NITs, and IITs.
  7. Coding: IIIT Allahabad has a good coding culture. The institute students participate in a number of competitions such as ICPS-regional, and it comes second after IIIT Hyderabad. As in ICPS 5-10 teams qualify from India, and only a few teams can make up to an IIITA one team make it on the top of it.

Therefore, IIIT Allahabad is equivalent to NITs but a level down from IITs.

What kind of questions are asked in the Integrated PhD interview for Physics at IISc, TIFR, and HRI?

AB
Aditi Banerjee Posted On : July 17th, 2023
Lives in Bangalore

IISc Bangalore, TIFR, and HRI conduct interviews for the integrated Ph.D in Physics. My brother appeared for the TIFR NCBS Bangalore interview for iPh.D. in Physics.

People from different backgrounds appear for the NCBS interviews in various disciplines.

NCBS has Rounds 1 and 2 for the interviews. Round 1 lasts for 30-40 minutes. Here a candidate’s basics are tested. Round 2 lasts for 75 minutes. It involves more detailed questions which are usually based on the projects or write-ups done by a candidate.

For my brother, however, the interview went the other way around. During the first round, he was asked questions about his projects. During Round 2, he was asked detailed questions in the broad areas of Physics and Maths.

The interview experience for each candidate will be unique, whether in IISc Bangalore, TIFR, or HRI. This is especially true for NCBS as their research is not just limited to Physics, it is interdisciplinary. The interviews will help you learn something new. Prepare well for them and enjoy the process.

Which college is better: IMT Nagpur or Welingkar Mumbai or IMT Hyderabad?

AJ
Advait Joshi Posted On : June 3rd, 2023
Lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

Among the three colleges, IMT Nagpur should be your choice unless there is any specific need of yours that is being met by any of the other two colleges. IMT Nagpur started in the year 2004 and has a rich legacy in terms of the brand name of IMT Ghaziabad.

Despite being a relatively new college you could see a few major brand names that visit the college regularly such as Dabur, Bain & Company, Barclays, and Fullerton India. The institute is known for producing great minds in the marketing domain. Now let’s see some numbers to see if the reasoning is sound. Please note that the data may seem at odds with my first statement but average salary doesn't necessarily define the whole story. The batch size of We School is huge which makes Nagpur a better option for you.

How is NIT Jamshedpur for an MTech?

TM
Tanushree Mandal Posted On : April 20th, 2021
M.Tech from National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur (2019)

Here are some of the facts given by one of my friends who studied MTech at NIT Jamshedpur.

  • Academics are not very good and thus the pressure is also less in MTech. You should utilize your time and make the best use of it. You can study by yourself. Scoring good marks is not very tough.
  • You should try for IITs. If you don’t have any better option than NIT Jamshedpur then you should go for it.
  • NIT Jamshedpur is definitely better than some of the NITs. But there are some issues faced by students.
  1. There are still some accommodation-related issues.
  2. There is a lack of instruments in the department.
  3. Machines that are available need maintenance.
  • MTech is only best for the Computer science stream. The other branches are not up to the mark.
  • The students get to sit in most of the well-reputed companies in the placements. Internships are also provided to students. Other branches are sometimes allowed to sit with CSE in some companies.

The environment of students is good. Co-curricular and extracurricular activities are present. The batch size is small. In a nutshell, it can be stated that NIT Jamshedpur is average for MTech.

What is the fee structure in FMS Delhi for MBA

AD
Anand Dubey Posted On : December 30th, 2022
Bachelors of B.COM in Bachelor of Commerce Degrees & Commerce Business Development, University of Mumbai (Graduated 2014)

The tuition Fees at FMS Delhi are one of the lowest and most affordable Business schools in the country.

The Annual tuition fee for MBA-Full Time and Ph.D. programs at FMS is INR 10,480/-year.

For MBA-Executive and MBA-Executive (Health Care Administration) programs, the annual fee is INR 50,000 in two equal installments of INR 25,000 each.

FMS does not have a hostel facility so its students live in the vicinity of the campus in PFs and flats. The monthly expenses range from 15-30k based on your maintenance.

However, the campus hostel is cheap and excellent. The fee for the campus hostel is INR 1400 for accommodation and INR 1200 for food.

So the total fees is very low compared to other top B Schools that are similar in ranking to FMS. Also if you consider the following ROI, FMS students don’t have to really pay much from their pocket

  • Stipend from summer placements
  • National level scholarships, Merit based scholarships, and Need-based scholarships offer lakhs of rupees in awards and grants
  • A number of opportunities of providing paid consulting to top corporates
  • Working with various firms and organizations on live projects and experiential learning programs.

All these ROI prove that despite being taught by the most experienced faculty and getting maximum exposure, the fees spent are considerably less.
