KS
Kathakali Sengupta Posted On : September 22nd, 2021
B.A from University of Allahabad (2019)

Allahabad University is known for its Arts faculty. In the Arts faculty, there are 15 different departments. The main campus alone takes about 2000 students each year.

The cutoff varies each year depending on different factors. However, the competition is not that tough. If you have done about 60 questions out of 150 correctly then you can easily get selected. In 2021, the required cutoff for all categories in the first round was 186. However, to get hostel accommodation will have to secure around 220 marks.

Which is better for CS, IIIT Allahabad vs NIT Trichy?

AA
Aarti Ahuja Posted On : July 20th, 2023
Lives in Allahabad

Both IIIT Allahabad and NIT Trichy are excellent institutes imparting engineering education. Choosing the better between the two will require comparison based on some common aspects

  • Campus life: IIIT Allahabad has a very rigid and restricting campus life as you will be surrounded by nerds. The academics are very tough and most of the time will be spent in completing assignments. NIT Trichy has a bit of flexible and lively campus life.
  • Clubs: IIIT Allahabad does not look beyond academics and the extracurricular culture here is very lacking. The clubs here are very few in number in comparison to NIT Trichy which has more than 50 clubs.
  • Coding culture: IIIT Allahabad being the academic m-oriented institute obviously has better coding culture than NIT Trichy which focuses on the overall development of its students. NIT Trichy has more students in core branches than CS.
  • Higher studies: If you are planning to go for higher studies such as an MS from a top foreign university, then IIIT Allahabad will be a better choice for you.

Considering the fact that the placement scenario of both the institutes is at par with each other, choosing one over the other depends on the kind of college life you prefer. If your goal is to just study and get placed in a top tech company, then IIIT Allahabad is a great choice for you but if you want to experience a good campus life and enjoy your engineering years, then NIT Trichy is better.

Which college should I choose between AIIMS Patna or MCK?

IB
Illina Bhattacharyya Posted On : October 16th, 2021
Studied at The Heritage School, Kolkata (2018)

AIIMS Patna and Medical College Kolkata (MCK) both seem to have their own perks in the different areas of anyone’s interest. Here are some facts that you need to know before making any decision.

AIIMS Patna

  • Many believe that AIIMS Patna is a very new college but you can not avoid the fact that it is an AIIMS.
  • Due to the same reason, it is very well recognized abroad so go for it if studying abroad is your goal ultimately.
  • Also, it is well funded therefore the infrastructure and campus are of a top-notch level.
  • The teaching faculty as well is on a better level than MCK.
  • They have got all the co-curricular activities covered too.

Medical College Kolkata (MCK)

  • MCK is not a centrally aided institute so the infrastructure lacks a bit more than that of AIIMS Patna.
  • But the environment is a very healthy one without any political interference in the college procedures.
  • The greatest perk is that it is a 180-year-old college which results in a huge alumni network.
  • Also, if you are a student from Kolkata then you fall in the state reservation quota of 50%, unlike AIIMS.

Both the colleges are good at their own places, choose the one that suits your requirements. This will be a major step up for your career.

Is Aligarh Muslim University good enough for a B.Tech, compared to private universities like VIT, SRM, Manipal and Thapar?

RV
Rohan Verma Posted On : February 6th, 2024
Studied at AMU

AMU is better than VIT, SRM, Manipal and Thapar in many respects. AMU offers top notch facilities like these private colleges, but its fees are way less in comparison.

Here are the goods and bads of joining AMU-

  1. AMU has very good placements for CS, Electronics and Electrical branches.
  2. The cost of study and hostels is extremely pocket friendly.
  3. The campus is great and very safe for girls.
  4. The faculty and infrastructure are both top notch. The CS and Electronics teachers have worked in the past for MNCs like Cisco and Microsoft.
  5. The library and book banks allow easy access to books for those who suffer from financial difficulties.
  6. The core branches (civil, mechanical and chemical) do not get core placement offers on campus. But one who knows his/her subjects well and has a good CPI, can easily acquire a good core job off campus. Core branches usually receive software related jobs offers during campus placements.
  7. Some freshers might feel a cultural shock at AMU, but they’ll eventually adapt to their new environment.

Aligarh Muslim University is a more reputable brand in comparison to private colleges, and its education is much more affordable. You must work hard and get a good rank to get admission into AMU.

How was your first day at MNNIT Allahabad?

RA
Ritesh Agarwal Posted On : April 29th, 2021
Studied at Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology, Allahabad (2019)

One of my friends has shared his experiences. He traveled by train to Allahabad from Delhi, and after reaching there, his first experience was so disappointing. He thought about how he would survive here in the next 4 years of his study.

  • First, he went to the hotel, and then he went to complete the registration process of his admission.
  • When he went to the college for the registration process, a positive feeling had haunted his mind after seeing the main building of this institute.
  • Registration is a big process, and he had to run from one office to another at that temperature, which made the fading of good feeling. He took lunch in the college canteen, and he said that the food was very good and cheap.
  • After completing the entire process, he visited the hostel. The hostel for the first-year student is really good. But he was not permitted to stay in the hostel as the registration process of the entire student was not yet completed.

So, my friend hated the place at the beginning, but after living in this place for 4 years, everyone will love this place. Besides, the student will also get a bag of memories in their 4 years of study.

The MCA program offered by NIT Kurukshetra is highly regarded and can be compared to that of NIT Trichy easily. It offers the resources, academic environment, and facilities necessary for a good learning experience. However, at some point, you have to resort to self-studying because the teachers cannot spoon-feed you all the time.

You will have to make yourself eligible for the placements by working hard to add value to your CV. More than the reputation of the institute it's your efforts that matter. You can join various tech clubs to get better exposure and learn coding.

Here is a brief overview of the MCA program offered at NIT Kurukshetra
