Which is better for BA in psychology- Jai Hind or St. Xavier College Mumbai?

SS
Supriyo Sen Posted On : January 19th, 2021
Student at Jai Hind College (2017)

Among the two institutes mentioned, St.Xavier College, Mumbai is better for a BA in psychology.

The table below will give you a brief overview of the two colleges.

Parameters

Jai Hind

St.Xavier College

Fee structure

INR 16,200 (for 3 years)

Rs 17,625 (for 3 years)

Placement rate (2020)

-

>90%

Average salary package (2020)

3 LPA

6.5 LPA

Comparison:

Both the institutes provide good learning opportunities, but the difference is St. Xavier is autonomous and hence better.

  • As St. Xaviers is autonomous, it can update the syllabus anytime, if needed. While Jai Hind is affiliated with MU and follows the same syllabus as MU. Which may not be updated.
  • Xavier’s also conducts its own examinations. So any problem caused in the result published by MU will not affect the students of Xaviers.
  • Like any other autonomous institute, Xaviers also publishes its results first. So, students get the first preference for a job.
  • While containing a degree from MU through Jai Hind is quite convenient since university and college will both have a set of mark sheets.

From the academic point of view, St. Xaviers College is better than Jai Hind College Mumbai.

How do I study effectively for PTU exams?

SS
Sanghita Saha Posted On : August 24th, 2023
Studied at PTU

One of my friends in PTU shared his strategy for studying for PTU exams.

  • A month prior to the exams, he studied from Sample Papers of Lords and MBD. He would figure out the pattern of questions carrying maximum marks.
  • He focused a lot on his presentation skills while attempting the exam. He ensured neat handwriting, the use of different inks, and answers supported by diagrams.
  • At the beginning of each semester, he would use reference books to study. This gave him enough understanding of the subjects.

He followed the above tips and scored 80% aggregate in all semesters. So follow the above study place to improve your grades.

Which will be a better option, IIIT Bhopal or IIIT Ranchi for CSE? How are the hostel and other facilities at IIIT Bhopal?

SS
Sugandhi Singh Posted On : March 23rd, 2021
B.Tech from IIIT Bhopal

I know some of the people from both institutes. Based on what I heard from them, IIIT Bhopal is better than IIIT Ranchi.

A few of the reasons to choose IIIT Bhopal are as follows.

  • Mentor Institute: IIIT Bhopal is mentored by NIT Bhopal and classes are held inside the campus of NIT Bhopal itself. So you will have access to all the experienced faculty and facilities you would have got if you were in NIT. Being in NIT, you can participate in all the national-level competitions.
  • Location: The location of IIIT Bhopal is great. It is located in the peaceful city of Bhopal. It has less traffic and the college is close to both the airport and railway station.
  • Hostel: Hostels for the first are at RGPV University, which is the head university of all the engineering colleges in the state. It has a huge campus with modern facilities. Buses are provided from hostel to college and that too free of cost.
  • Food: The quality of food at the canteen is not so good.
  • Academics: Academics facilities are great and you have to work hard to stay in sync with the syllabus. The course-work will be quite hectic in the first year and you would be given 30,50 or sometimes even 100 questions as an assignment. You will learn C-Programming, HTML, CSS, latex, etc.

You can also check the latest ranking of the institute to compare. The final decision is yours.

Both IITD Mechanical as well as IIT BHU CSE are good branches.
IIT BHU is 100 Years old Institution and offers a huge Alumni Network. The course curriculum of CSE is designed in a way that will give you enough Industry exposure. Coding Culture at IIT BHU is also very impressive with 10-12 GSOC Selections every year. The Department Club of Programmers (COPS) conducts Codefest which is the annual Department Fest which witnesses the participation of students and programmers worldwide. Moreover, besides Technical things at IIT BHU you can build up other skills since there are many clubs for Extracurriculars like Aeromodelling Club, Robotics Club, Business Club, Cultural Societies, Film & Media Council, etc. Apart from this, the Life at IIT BHU campus and city life of Varanasi is amazing. IITD is an old well-reputed IIT. Faculties of the Mechanical Department at IITD are very good and experienced. Also, Peer Group at IITD is very competitive since many top rankers join this college. Mechanical Engineering course curriculum is good and one which provides industry skills. Besides Academics IITD too has many Clubs, Societies where students can join to develop different skills. Also, Campus life of IITD and the City life that Delhi offers is quite amazing. Placements too at IITD are good. In 2019 Mechanical Engineering was the brunch with the highest placement records. Which is a better option, IIM Kozhikode or MDI Gurgaon?

SP
Smit Parmar Posted On : November 14th, 2022
IIM Kozhikode PGP 2018-2022

Most people consider IIM Kozhikode a better option than MDI Gurgaon. But in reality, MDI has many lesser-known features that might help you take the right decision:

  • MDI Gurgaon has the best faculty in finance so it’s the best option for the finance stream.

  • The curriculum taught here is very much similar to the skills sought by the industry

  • A large number of students get into consulting companies. More than 10 companies visit MDI every year.

  • Low batch strength, which means proper attention to each student

  • The No Reservation policy makes the admissions here solely merit-based

Although IIM Kozhikode has some excellent features, MDI Gurgaon lacks the public eye so it’s necessary you know its reality before blindly trusting IIM Kozhikode.

A score of 150 marks in the CUSAT CAT exam will fetch you a rank between 6000-7000. Based on this rank, you will only get core branches like Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical in CUCEK, the second campus in spot admission only.

If you aren’t aware of spot admission, please visit the institute and get information on the same. If you aren’t able to get spot admission, you can also take admission through an NRI seat in SOE on the first campus

How must I prepare for the GD-PI rounds at XLRI Jamshedpur for the BM course?

AA
Aishwarya Anand Posted On : February 13th, 2023
Studied at Xavier School of Management

The interview process at XLRI covers a wide range of topics and is designed to give the interviewers a comprehensive understanding of the candidate. During the interview, you may be asked questions about yourself, your past education, any work experience you may have, your family, hobbies, current affairs, and your views on various global issues.

It is important to prepare for the classic interview questions, but it is equally important not to memorize them verbatim. Instead, be prepared for any variations of the questions that may be asked. Some commonly asked questions include:

  • Can you tell me something about yourself?
  • Why do you want to pursue an MBA, and why have you chosen XLRI? Why have you chosen a particular stream such as marketing or finance?
  • Can you tell me about a specific incident in your past and what you learned from it?

It is essential to be familiar with every point on your CV. It is perfectly acceptable to say "I don't know" to a technical question during an interview, but it is not ideal to not be able to answer a question about yourself or your CV.

During the interview, the panelists may ask you to speak about yourself and provide arguments for and against any current government scheme. They may also ask you to design an E-R diagram for an IT system for managing the admissions process of XLRI, and can also inquire about your hobbies and passion. It is crucial to be prepared for a wide range of questions and be able to express oneself effectively.

SR
Sritama Ray Posted On : June 29th, 2021
Studied at IEM Kolkata (2019)

Have known some people who have pursued M.Tech in CSE from NIT Kurukshetra, NIT Bhopal, and IIIT Allahabad. I can say that you can opt for IIIT Allahabad for CSE. Do not choose NIT Kurukshetra.

  • At NIT Kurukshetra the examination cell is not good and placements are average.
  • IIIT Allahabad is better in terms of placements, faculty, exposure, etc.
  • At IIIT Allahabad, top companies like Infosys, Capgemini, Byju’s, Oracle, JP Morgan, TCS, IBM, Amazon, Jaro Education, etc. take part in their placement program.
  • They also have an active coding culture.

Particulars

NIT Kurukshetra

NIT Bhopal

IIIT Allahabad

Total fees

1.78 Lakhs

2.6- 6.65 Lakhs

Median salary

IIIT Allahabad is a good choice for M.Tech in CSE. You can also go for NIT Bhopal which has a good placement record. But lacks a good teaching-learning process. So, It is suggested you go for IIIT Allahabad, as it will be the best option for you.
