What do people think of IIT Guwahati?

SG
Srimona Gupta Posted On : April 28th, 2023
studied at Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (2020)

Owing to its unique location, IIT Guwahati is considered infamous among other IITs and there are many rumors regarding it.

  • Firstly, it’s located in the North-East part and thus parents of South India don’t deem it right to send their children here.
  • Being an earthquake zone, it’s considered a risky place to study.
  • Surrounded by mountains, lakes, and trees many people think that IIT Guwahati lacks the much-needed sports facility
  • People think it's not possible to hang out with friends in the city due to the construction of the new bridge across the Brahmaputra.
  • People think they won’t be able to enjoy their holidays within the campus though there are many tourist spots a few kilometers from campus like Shillong, Dawki, etc

Most of these assumptions are not true and IIT Guwahati is actually a very good option for Engineering.

SG

Bachelor of Engineering from Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, Bangalore (2020)

With a rank above 10000, it is difficult to get the CSE or ISE branch at Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering. According to the recent cutoff trends for DSCE, the required cutoff for CSE was 3905.

However, with your rank, you can make it to other branches like ECE, EEE, TE, etc. The college provides the option of internal transfer from one branch to another, so you can change your branch after following the procedure of the college to the branch of your choice if you want to.

Does MNNIT Allahabad provide single rooms for freshers?

AB
Ankush Bose Posted On : December 2nd, 2023
MNNIT Allahabad

B.Tech first year boys get a three seater room at MNNIT Allahabad. The boys’ hostel for freshers is SVBH Mega Hostel. It is the newest and best boys’ hostel of MNNIT.

It is seven-storied, and has over 250 rooms and 2 messes. For the initial months, freshers are given a lot of attention, and the hostel security is alert 24*7. The hostel canteen serves poor quality food, and does not function most of the time. The best resort is to go to senior canteens or nearby areas for better food. The SVBH hostel also has a general store inside it. There you can buy stationary and other basic necessities.

The mess food is below average. Even though you’ll get a three seater room, it will be spacious and clean. Each room contains three beds, three cupboards and an extra study room with three table-chairs.

Only the final year B.Tech boys get a single room at MNNIT.

Which are the top 5 highest paying companies at IIM Ahmedabad?

RS
Ritwika Seth Posted On : July 28th, 2021
Studied MBA at IIM Ahmedabad 2019

The top-paying companies, generally belonging amongst the regular recruiters, are the multinational banks, usually offering job roles like investment banking (IB). Alongside that, the roles in Financial Marketing (FM), also pay well, considering the base destination is overseas. Now, this is in terms of direct conversion and not PPP.

There are several of these firms which are as follows:

  • Goldman Sachs (mostly both IB and FM), Morgan Stanley (IB), J.P. Morgan (IB), Credit Suisse (mostly IB), BAML (IB and FM), and UBS (FM and Equity research) are to name a few handfuls among a slightly huge list.
  • HSBC and Nomura commonly offer high-paying posts as well, given that they usually operate from overseas.

In addition to the aforementioned companies, there are various other recruiters, mostly scattered in the private equity arena (and a few handfuls in venture capital) who often choose to recruit rather sporadically and are common and pay well. Carlyle, Blackstone, Apollo are to name a few of them.

Nonetheless, the recruiters of the companies listed above usually pay typically anywhere between 35 to 60 LPA as the base salary. Astonishingly, the bonus is often over and above this amount.
