No, CSE at MAKAUT is not considered anywhere near good given its obsolete curriculum and pedagogy. The subjects taught have no relevance in today’s age and do not match the industry's needs. The situation of practical labs is pathetic and the infrastructure of the institute is deteriorating day by day.
The marking system of the exams conducted here does nothing to evaluate your knowledge of intellect. It just judges your capability to fill the maximum number of pages you can.
Ultimately, it’s the students that make the college more than anything so your college experience here will depend on your batchmates. Nothing can stop you from achieving great heights if you are determined to work hard and succeed.
It depends on what you are interested in and what career you want to pursue. My personal suggestion would be to make IIT Delhi your first preference.
First, if you are a civil services aspirant, get admission into IIT Delhi in any branch and prepare for UPSC through the various coaching institutes available.
If you are somehow not able to make it into IIT Delhi, then invest another year preparing for JEE and aim for a higher rank. Once you are able to make it into IIT Kanpur, again you need to work hard for one year to get a branch change into Civil. You will be competing with geniuses from CS and ME but keep yourself motivated. A CPI of 7+ will make it possible to get a branch change. Attend your classes regularly, complete your assignments on time and you are good to go.
Lastly, if you are unable to change your branch, go for pure sciences like Physics, Chemistry, BSBE, or Earth Science. Out of these Physics and chemistry have a heavy workload and it will be tough to cope with your batchmates. BSBE has pathetic placements. Another option is Earth Sciences which in my opinion is the best considering the light workload and job opportunities. The average CPI is lesser than other branches and most of its courses overlap with Civil Engineering. Basically, Earth Sciences is equivalent to Civil Engineering just without the Engineering element.
The executive or part-time MBA Program offered by FMS Delhi is among the best in India. It is meant for
Therefore, it does not offer placement like it is offered in the FMS full-time MBA Program. But around 30% switched industry/companies. Around 5% became entrepreneurs.
The highest salary: > 60 LPA
Average Salary: 30 LPA
Like every year, this year also the university conducted the carry exam for the students. The carryover examination was arranged by the university recently for 1/ 2/ 3/ 4/ 5/ 6/ 7/ 8 semesters. The university hasn’t released the result of the carryover exam yet. Keep checking the AKTUs official website to get updated on the same.
The PGP finance program at IIM Kozhikode is indeed good. IIM Kozhikode is the 4th Ranked B-School in MHRD NIRF Ranking (2021) among the top 100 Management Institutes.
The PGP Finance is a two-year full-time masters level program designed to aid students in pursuing careers in the financial world, in domains such as corporate finance, investment banking, and wealth management.
Most of the courses are very easy, especially for commerce graduates from DU or other reputed colleges.
One of my friends from school is an alumnus of Great Lakes. According to him, the institute has a very good 1-year PGPM program.
There is not much difference between the faculty of Great Lakes and that of institutes like XLRI, IIMs, ISB, etc. Teachers from other countries also visit the campus. In addition to these, the methods of teaching are always being updated and enjoy high acceptance in the industry.
The following table gives a brief overview of the institutes:
| Institute | Great Lakes | K J Somaiya Mumbai |
| Fees | 16,95,2000 INR | 8,17,290 INR |
| Average Package | 13 LPA | 10 LPA |
| Top Recruiters | ADP, Cognizant, Happay, Hexaware, Manipal Business Solutions, Newgen Software, etc | Amazon , Citi, GEP, Infosys, Cognizant, ICICI, Capgemini, Infosys, JP Morgan |
| Duration of course | 1 year | 15 months |
You can make decisions based on your preference of location, convenience, budget, etc. Thorough research goes a long way.
Even after studying for four years in this college, any student will ultimately miss the ground, hostels, teachers, fests, and most of all the friends. It might really hit hard thinking that the college days are over. In the end, it doesn’t actually matter whether you are Malayali or a non-Malayali in the college. You as a student should enjoy it completely.
There may be friends, who would crib so much about how awful the place is. But it didn’t feel so to many others. This may be because they get homesick and miss their homes and being far away from them. They should try being relished there. There are so many things to explore and learn.
Being far away there from the most secure place, makes the students realize how important their homes are to them.
You must not miss out on the fun. Ragam and Tathva are very organized in NIT Calicut. The nights are just amazing and to look forward to it. The nights are fun-filled with crowds and high-profile singers. There are various ‘on the spot’ events held.
There should not be any separation between the students but it is really tough because cultural, social, and lingual differences sometimes creep in. Despite these facts, everyone there is quite amicable to one another. There is not much of a problem as such. And it won’t even affect that much. The student should just get along well.
Studying at IIT Delhi is the dream of many engineering aspirants and rightly so. The exposure and the opportunities offered are second to none making it a coveted college.
Brand value: The brand value comes attached to the IIT tag is strong enough to increase the employability of its students tenfold. This brand value also comes to play while seeking higher education from foreign universities.
Development: IIT Delhi just does not impart quality education but also focuses on developing your overall personality and teaching you life lessons. By the time you leave IIT Delhi, you will have become proficient in managing your time well, fighting failures, handling challenges well, and developing social skills.
However, it’s important to note that IIT Delhi will only provide you with the necessary opportunities, then it’s up to you to make the most out of them.
To know how the Civil branch at NIT Jalandhar is, we need to consider 3 factors:
Academic: The theoretical subjects are well taught by top notch faculty. The labs are however not in very good condition here.
Internships: There are not great internship opportunities here. Students themselves are not interested in spending their summers at the site.
Placements: L&T is the major recruiter in private companies for civil engineers .For public jobs you need to appear for GATE for PSUs. If you have completed any internship, then placements will be very easy for you.
All in all NIT Jalandhar is a great choice to pursue Civil Engineering.
IIT Indore is one of the leading new IITs that has proved itself in every aspect be it sports, culture, or academics. IIT Indore has made big achievements in T v/s M, GSoC, ICPC, start-ups, projects, and Inter-IIT Meet. The following points further prove IIT Indore’s versatility.
New IIts aren't established yet but are in the beautiful process of establishing themselves. The students take an active part in this process and discover themselves amongst this. So, IIT Indore is rightly famous for its coding culture and is indeed a good institute.
