What is the Thapar University cutoff after manual rounds (spot round) for CSE (animation) and CSE (machine learning and analysis)?
Thapar University removed CSE Hons. a few years ago. Now the students of Computer Engineering can opt for extra credits by choosing animation/machine learning as an elective. As these courses no longer exist on their own, there aren’t any individual cutoffs for admission to them.
Which is better IMI Delhi or Great Lakes Chennai?
In my opinion, IMI Delhi is a better option than Great Lakes, Chennai. Let’s discuss some key highlights of the institute
- Location: The campus is located in Qutub Institutional Area, Next to IIT, and is in the vicinity of the outer ring road. It’s located within city limits and is surrounded by Central Government offices.
- Infrastructure: The campus comprises both, Academic Blocks and Hostels for Second Years The hostels for first years are at a distance of 2 km from the campus and there is a facility of late night shuttle bus service to and fro at the institute and hostel.
- Faculty & curriculum: IMI has experienced faculty for all domains be it Finance, Marketing, HR, or Operations. The additional visiting faculty adds to the already competent faculty pool and provides diverse experience and exposure.
- Placements: The placements are pretty decent with students getting desired roles during the summer internships. From my friends, a marketing major was offered an internship at J Walter Thompson India. Another HR major got an internship offer from Capgemini HR Consulting.
- Alumni: Established in 1981, the institute enjoys an excellent reputation and legacy and thereby boasts of an elaborate alumni network.
All these factors combined make IMI Delhi a very good option over Great Lakes.
Is it worth doing a BTech in biotechnology from Thapar University, or should I prefer a government college like UIET Chandigarh? What are the placement records of biotechnology students at Thapar?
If you have a keen interest in biotechnology, then B.Tech in Biotechnology is an excellent field. But if you aren’t interested in the branch it will be better to go for other branches. I have friends from both institutes. Here are some of the facts about the Biotech course at both institutes based on the interactions I had with them.
Comparison:
- Biotech from UIET Chandigarh is decent, but the placement opportunities are limited. But if you have a good academic record then you can go for higher studies at Panjab University which has a good industry interface with Sun Pharma.
- Panjab University holds a better international reputation than Thapar University. It will help you sail through the admission process in a leading foreign institute for further education in biotech.
- The crowd in UIET Chandigarh is better than Thapar University. The reason is, UIET requires to require a less JEE Mains cut-off rank as compared to Thapar.
- Thapar is a private university. So, it has the edge over the placements compared to UIET Chandigarh. Being a private institution it charges a massive fee as compared to UIET Chandigarh.
- Thapar has a tie-up Trinity College, Dublin, so you get an opportunity to do (2+2), i.e., two years at Thapar and two years at Trinity. This program can hike the fee up to INR 40-45 Lakhs.
Before joining, it will be better to have a conversation with the students on campus to have a wholesome knowledge about the institutes.
Are the RGUHS exams difficult?
RGUHS examinations are not too difficult. Also, the difficulty level is different for different courses. RGUHS has many courses and the examination for each course is different. If you put in the required effort from the start of your course, it won’t be difficult to score decent marks in examinations.
Which is better, Madras Medical College or Bangalore Medical College?
Madras Medical College is much better than Bangalore Medical College. It is also more reputed. However, if you aren’t from South India, then choosing Bangalore Medical College will be better. If you know English and Hindi, you can easily adjust at Bangalore. But you will need to learn Tamil if you are going to stay in Chennai.
Which is better: IITB SOM or IIM Indore for PGP?
SJMSOM, IIT Bombay is better than IIM Indore for a PGP. It has a compact batch size and an excellent industry interface. There are around 110 students per batch, so everyone gets the required attention from the faculty.
IIT Bombay MBA placements of 2022 had an average CTC of around INR 25.9 LPA. While the highest CTC offered was INR 49 LPA.
Other than these, you will get the option to network with B.Tech people who holds the top 100 ranks in JEE. IIT Bombay has a business incubator that offers excellent live projects. You will also get the location advantages of Mumbai.
How are the hostels at NIT Calicut for freshers? What are some pictures of the hostel rooms?
NIT Calicut first-year students are allotted 2 hostels namely
- Hostel A: This room has 3 beds, cupboards, and tables. Although the rooms are triple occupancy, 4 students are made to stay together
- PG-1 : This hostel has double occupancy rooms only although the rooms are smaller in size than Hostel A.
In my opinion, it's better to get Hostel A because the rooms are spacious and it has better facilities than PG-1. From what I have heard, PG-1 mess has better food than Hostel A but that does not really matter because you can change your mess after a few months. The internet facilities are poor and this matter needs to be taken care of. The restrictions are imposed on first-year students but from the second year, students are free to do as their will. Trust me hostel life is much more than comfortable beds and mess food. It's about the friends you make and the memories you create!
What is the average package of B.Tech computer science at BIT Mesra?
During the 2022 placements at BIT Mesra, the average package for B.E. CSE stood at INR 19.27 LPA. The median package stood at INR 16 LPA and the lowest package stood at INR 4 LPA. 113 students from the CSE branch were placed, out of 124 eligible students.
The figures were equally promising for the IT branch with the average package recorded at INR 20.58 LPA. Out of 59 eligible students from IT, 56 were placed. The top recruiters during the 2022 placements were Amdocs, BYJU’S, Cognizant, Daffodil Software, EY, Ericsson, Future First, Tech Mahindra, and Wipro, among others.
Thus, the average package for B.E. CSE and IT at BIT Mesra stood at 19-20 LPA during the placements last year. This is quite a promising figure.
How difficult is it to upgrade your branch after 1 year at Thapar University?
I am assuming that you wish to change your branch to CSE as it is one of the most sought after branches at Thapar University. Mostly all the seats for CSE get filled up during the counseling, but 2 or 3 seats may remain vacant. Here are the two ways of changing your branch in Thapar University -
- December Test- During the month of December, usually towards the end, Thapar University conducts a test to fill the vacant seats in every branch. This test offers a branch change from the 2nd semester onwards. This exam is also open to students who have completed their 1st semester in another college. The paper pattern is similar to JEE Mains but it is way easier. However, the competition is high because many candidates take this exam. For CSE, you will need a single digit rank. Some seats are reserved for the children of faculty.
- Year end change- For this, get an 8.5+ CGPA in your first year. Doing so is neither difficult nor easy. The subjects in the first year are easier. Try to score maximum marks in the practicals and work hard for the mid sessionals. There are few chapters in mid sessionals and scoring is easier. For the end sems, chapters are way more in number and the weightage is around 45-55%. Therefore, pay good attention to other exams as well. For CSE, the CGPA requirement soars higher than an 8.5 because of high competition. In fact, it goes to 9.2+. You will have to work very hard.
These are the two ways to get your branch changed at Thapar University. Both require hard work and dedication, especially if you wish to get into CSE.
Can I expect AIIMS Raebareli or Deoghar with a score of 500 in the NEET 2023 being in the UR category?
AIIMS Raebareli and Deoghar's cutoff is expected to be higher than new government colleges in rural areas because of the no-bond policy, better hostels, and low fees.
