Sharanya Pal Posted On : September 13th, 2023
Studied at National Institute of Technology, Hamirpur (2015)

ECE at NIT Hamirpur is considered a pretty good branch with a decent placement scenario. The faculty is well-educated and friendly. Recently there has been a change in the Director of the campus and also the H.o.D. so the situation is expected to get even better.

The institute has developed better industrial relations with companies either through Skype or through campus visits. Moreover, the professors have become more passionate and helpful. Recently, two teams from the ECE Department won a National Competition.

Here are the placement stats of the ECE department of NIT Hamirpur:

Eligible Students

50

Placement Percentage

INR 16.60 LPA

However, the only drawback is that owing to the remote location students of this branch get placed in IT companies over core ones.

How much minimum CAT percentile do I need to get IIM Calcutta or IIM Lucknow if I have Xth 93, XIIth 73, and BTech 70, without any work experience?

Your graduation score is a bit low but it depends on your institute too. If you are from a top college, then this score will be considered pretty good. Moreover, past academics are not the only deciding factor when it comes to admission to IIMs. You do have decent changes if selection viewing your overall profile.

As for the CAT Score, don’t set a fixed target and just aim for as high as you can. The cutoffs keep changing depending on various factors so what should remain constant are your efforts. Additionally, preparing for the interview is very crucial because it determines your chances of admission.

What are the advantages of joining RICS over NICMAR?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : May 6th, 2023
lives in New Delhi

Amity University's RICS School of Built Environment (RICS SBE) is an industry led academic college in Noida and Mumbai. NBA-accredited courses are offered at the institute. Diplomas are offered by RICS SBE. Advantages of RICS over NICMAR are as follows :-

Lower fees - You can chose RICS for its lower fees and excellent education. RICS offers a professional MBA with MRICS, but NICMAR charges a lot for a diploma. I believe the fee fluctuates between 2–5 lakhs.

Commendable placement record - Almost all students are placed in prominent corporate and government institutions in India and abroad. Management takes student placements seriously and helps students find the right career. However, with almost no multinational companies coming to school, the average income at NICMAR has dropped, making aspirational earnings dubious.

Faculty- Subject matter experts curate and teach all RICS SBE courses. Industry specialists and academics teach construction, management, and infrastructure. Their hands-on approach helps you develop career-boosting abilities.

Batch size- RICS SBE accepts no more than 300 students per batch since the faculty believes in providing quality education and personal attention to each student. Students are then split into groups for one-on-one instruction.

What is the CAT cutoff for the PGP-IM in MDI Gurgaon?

RT
Ranjan Thakur Posted On : February 22nd, 2023
PGPM from Management Development Institute, Gurgaon (2017)

MDI Gurgaon CAT cut-off is 94 percentile. It has been reducing over the years starting since 2010. The CAT cutoff is usually released when the GD-PI list is published. But I would like you to reconsider your decision of pursuing PGP-IM instead of PGPM. You can complete PGPM and then go abroad for an exchange program for 3 months. But if you are getting PGP-IM in MDI Gurgaon and PGPM in a mediocre B School, then choosing MDI is a better option.

Some highlights about the PGP-IM course are

  • Students of both the PGP-IM and PGPM programs are given equal opportunities and there is no partiality. However, some companies do prefer PGPM students only while some prefer PGP-IM students.
  • It’s a very rigorous course but you get to make International friends and access to the alumni network of institutes like ESCP.

Trust me 5-10 years later, your performance will matter more than anything.

What is the selection procedure of IIM Lucknow?

AR
Ayush Raj Posted On : January 16th, 2023
Studied at Indian Institute of Management Lucknow

The procedure is divided into three stages:

  • WAT: If you are selected for WAT based on your profile and CAT score, you will likely be contacted to proceed with the process in the city of your choice. The process begins on the scheduled day with a WAT in which you are given 10 minutes to write on a given topic. The subject matter could be abstract, current affairs-related, or, in rare cases, technical.
  • GD: After submitting your WAT sheets, you will be asked to participate in a GD on the same topic.
  • PI: Following the GD, the same panel will conduct one-on-one interviews with the candidates. The majority of the questions are based on the information you would have provided in your profile on the application, including your educational background, ECA, and work history (if any).

You should also be ready to respond to inquiries about current events and perhaps your group discussion (GD) if there was a particularly important point to be made.

AC

For CSE, PSIT Kanpur is the better option.

  • It has a well-designed course curriculum.
  • The infrastructural facilities offered are decent. CSE department has industry-sponsored labs - IBM Software lab, HP Center of excellence, Microsoft Innovation Center, etc.
  • PSIT is better recognized in the Kanpur region, compared to MPEC.
  • Big tech companies such as L&T, Infosys, IBM, etc. take part in PSIT Kanpur placement.
  • For CSE, the placement rate is around 80%. The highest CTC offered to the branch is INR 21 LPA.

Flexible academic structure, good facilities, and placements are some of the reasons that put PSIT ahead of MPEC.

Do CSE students really need not study physics, chemistry, and biology as students of IIIT Lucknow keep saying?

AS
Ayushi Sinha Posted On : September 15th, 2022
B.Tech in Information Technology, Indian Institute of Information Technology, Lucknow

To understand the basic of CSE, you need to study science subjects such as Physics, Mathematics, etc. You need basic understanding of these subjects, to handle tough engineering concepts. These subjects also help build logical and conceptual thinking. If you don’t have a basic understanding of these subjects, you will learn to code blindly. This isn’t beneficial in long run. Top technological institutes like IIIT Hyderabad have compulsory science subjects.
