PSG Tech (PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore) management quota — here's the ground reality for 2024.

Does PSG Tech have management quota?

PSG Tech is a Government-Aided autonomous institution under Anna University. As an aided college, the management quota operates differently than private colleges.
Technically: A portion of seats (~25-30%) falls under "Management" category in aided colleges. However, PSG's management quota is ALSO filled primarily through TNEA counselling (DTE Tamil Nadu) — so it's not a simple "pay and get in" management quota.

For non-TN students or 12th board cutoffs:

PSG Tech uses 12th board marks for admission via TNEA. No separate entrance exam specifically for PSG.
Cutoff for TNEA (12th marks): For CSE at PSG Tech — typically requires 185-192/200 (12th PCM + Language, Tamil Nadu board, for general category). This is genuinely high.
For non-TN board students: Management quota pathway may be available — inquire directly with PSG Tech admission office (+91-422-4344000).

Unofficial donation: Reports vary. PSG is generally considered more transparent than many private colleges. The aided status means some regulatory oversight on fees. Any unofficial payment claims should be verified directly.

PSG Tech is genuinely one of Coimbatore's (and Tamil Nadu's) top engineering colleges — NAAC A+, strong placements in hardware and software both. Getting in through TNEA merit is the most reliable path.

Yes, people have gotten admission through PSG Tech management quota. There is o such cutoff for the management quota. The course fee varies depending on the branch and other factors such as the number of applicants. For the Mechanical and production departments, the course fee through the management quota is around INR 20-30 Lakhs. For CSE or IT, the required fee will be around INR 15 lakhs or above.

Yes, there are people who have joined PSG College of Technology through management quota. Getting admission through management quota isn’t based on cutoff. You will need to pay a specific amount of money depending on your course of choice. For Mechanical Engineering, you will need to pay INR 23 lakhs. For EEE, the admission fee is around 15-18 lakhs. For branches like Production, the required fee is around 6 lakhs.

Yes, people have joined PSG Tech through the management quota. There are three types of students who prefer management quotas.

People who believe that PSG Tech will land them a million-dollar job.
People who adore it solely because of the institution's long-standing reputation.
People who have a large sum of money but have no idea how to spend it productively.

The average salary package for B.E. (EEE) starts at 22 lakhs (in 2020) and continues to depreciate. Even if you give up your property to make this large sum, you can expect a higher cut-off.

However, no Engineering seat is worth a 20 Lakhs donation. It simply means that obtaining a B.E. A diploma for 25 lakhs is pointless. So in all, it’s better to choose from other options.

But for your general knowledge let me tell you that the cut-off required in the 12th boards for the admission process is 50% and if you want admission without a management quota you need to give the entrance exam.
