Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum for the course is okay. I'm still in the starting of the second semester, so I don't know much. In the first semester, the main subjects were Accounts, Management, Business law. Along with these, there was English, Punjabi and human rights classes. Also they give you an option to choose a multidisciplinary (MD) course from another department. (Like, Chinese, law, economics, botany, fashion designing, etc). The profesors are very good, especially the main subjects ones. There are projecters in classes. As my course is M.com (fyip), the syllabus for the Accounts and management subjects were mostly the same as class 11 and 12. Exams occur twice in a semester, Mid Semester (MST) and End semester exams. Difficulty level is moderate for exams. It's still all theory based for us. But there will be more practicality in further semesters. Their lecture schedules are the what I don't like much. Sometimes the classes clash. Like md course classes, English, etc.

Internships Opportunities

1.5

I don't know about internship opportunities available here. But I don't think there is much. Maybe the ones doing PhD are appointed as lectures here. If you are looking for internships and placements, Gndu is would not be your best choice. It's good for sports tho. It has given many great atheletes.

Placement Experience

1.5

GNDU is not known for it's placements. It's mostly for campus life. But it's not like there's no placements here. There are placementss provided but it's very rare. Only some top and lucky students get them. In my course it might be around 1-2%. We'll if you're doing a master's degree or some other good course, the chance of placement would be higher. I'm still a first year so I can't talk much about placements.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees for my course is very less compared to other courses in the University. Yearly Tution fees was around 45000 according to the Prospectus. But including the examination fees, it's about 50000. 35000 for the first semester and 15000 for the second. There is scholarships available for students from SC/ST category. There is no fees benefit for Sports. Even if you have a national certificate. You can fill the forms for fee concession for Poor students, disabled students, and Top Merit students. But its rare you get those benefits. I have not undertaken any campus employment and I don't think there is any available.

Campus Life

3.5

Campus Life is very good here. There are a lot of fests and functions going on here. There is huge celebrations for Diwali, Holi etc. There are Youth festivals in October month in which a many colleges participate in various activities. Jashan is held in March/April. In this the students of various departments participate in activities like dance, singing, etc. There are interpartment sports tournament held. But there's no CLUB like structures here. Like joining a club and you have it's activities. It's not here. Students mostly practice week before when there if performance. Actually there had us choose from various clubs, teams, etc in the last semester. But we only chose. And there was not information given later.

Admission

I took admission in the M.com (Five year integrated program) course. Eligibility criteria was at least 50% marks in class 12th. Application forms for admission are only filled online on their site. I filled the form and it is very easy. The Application fees I paid was 1300 (it was 650 for SC/ST). They have their own entrance test called for admission which took place in June. The difficulty of the test was normal. It had 150 MCQ, time 2 hours, no negative markings. It includes General knowledge, General English and Quantitative Aptitude. The admission was on basis of merit. Students are ranked according to their test results. Around 2000 students had given the test and total seats of all courses was around 1100. Then the counseling took place, the students are called according to their ranks starting from 1. They choose their courses and pay the fees for the first semester. Top ranks get first priority over choosing the course they desire. I think the admission process was quite good.

Remarks:

Private education is good but sometimes students feel a lot of stress some times. I think private and gov school both are same so any school or college choose you. So, I conclude that when these institutions make fees payments suitable for the according to my point of view, the private school are better than the government.
