What Students Say

Likes

Beautiful campus, seniors are supportive, mind blowing infrastructure
Faculty are supportive, good job opportunities ,
Due to reservation in female category, male female ratio is good

Dislikes

Food quality is not so good in mess, cleanliness in mess is not good
Vehicle management system is not good, distance between hostels and academic is far
Colloquium is mandatory for all that's take too much time of students

Course Curriculum Overview

There are a lot of data science courses spme of them are compulsory and some of them are elective. Looking at the current trends this is the most progressive field in future. Many practical courses are there which enriches us with hands on experience.

Class Size: 106Course Fees: INR 200000 per year

Internships Opportunities

3.5

There are a lot of big tech companies tha come to our collge for internship like google, microsoft, sprinklr, merilytics, axestrack, sprih labs, flipkart, codenation, amazon, samsung, accenture japan, money forward, mecon ltd, razorpay, zomato, medibuddy, anarock, media.net, indeed, intuit, tvs , tech mahindra, fiitjee, allen, bpscl like psu's and many more are there. The average stipend for last year was 60000.

Placement Experience

2.5

The placements of last year was quite impressive. But, this year there is a lot of chaos due to recession. The average package last year was 28 for cse, 20 for ee etc. This year, the placement season is still going on. Almost 80% from cse are placed and for other branches its 50% this year.

Fees and Financial Aid

There is a tution fee per semester of 100000. The students with income under 1 lakh get full fee remission and for sc st students there is no income barrier. Even the college supports students with less income by providing mcm scholarship of 10000 per year.

Campus Life

4.5

The names of the annual and technical festivals are miraz, ranneeti exodia etc. which happens every year in summer and winter semesters. There are a lot of clubs like music, robottonics, dance etc. There are many coding events like hackathons and frosthack where students get opportunity to solve real life problems using their coding skill and win exciting prizes.

Hostel Facilities

I live in hostel itself. The hostel facilities are quite impressive like the amenities of refrigerator, induction, washing machines etc. If they are found faulty then there are very quick responses from administration regarding this. There are single rooms for 4th year and 3rd year and double and triple sharing for 1st and 2nd year students.

Hostel Fee: INR 56000 per year

Admission

The application process is very simple. We need to score good in jee advanced to get your specific branch in the college of your choice. There are no interviews for getting admission. This exam happens every year once.

Faculty

The faculty to student ratio at iit mandi is 1:50. The faculties mostly orefer to teach offline through slides and online materials. The teachers are always available to help you anything regarding the course.

If you have strong academics

Likes

Infrastructure and quality of education and supportive professor for building our success career
Very supportive atmosphere for growth in any engineer branch
Very good approach towards creativity innovations and practical projects

Dislikes

Lack of auditoriium so most of gathering will be in open air theatre

Placement Experience:

The placement opportunities at my college are average. A few reputed companies visit the campus each year, but the number of offers and salary packages varies depending on the branch and market conditions. Students who have strong academic performance, technical skills, internships, and good communication skills generally have better chances of getting placed.

Likes

The campus really respects diversity. Students from different states and countries study together and that inclusion makes a big difference
The infrastructure and fab faculties are unmatched, for people dedicated to carrying out research, they have almost everything atvtheir disposal
Extra curricular activities make sure one is involved in multiple volunteery things rather than just academics

Dislikes

Relevant placement opportunities with good packages can be improved
The fee for courses could be regularised
Mode of exam conduction should be completely offline to ensure transparency

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for placements in last semester. They can choose to sit in placements and select if they would like to join the company theyve been selected for. Eligible candidates do end up getting great packages

Updated to align with NEP-2020 guidelines starting from 2023 onward. CSE (AI & DS) branch includes modern subjects like Data Science, Machine Learning, Python, Cloud basics. Core branches (ECE, ME, EE, CE) follow standard Indian engineering frameworks with essential subjects. Syllabus similar to other govt engineering colleges under HP Tech University, so fairly up to date.

I like the fact that professors teach relatively better than degree college
I also like the infrastructure of the institute
I like the sporta event that takes place

Dislikes

I dont like the quality of food that is provided in the mess
Also the room size is relatively small
I also dont like the fact the online food delivery is limited to campus gate

Course Curriculum Overview:

I think that the course curriculum in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness is good after first year. But in the first year a student has to study the basic subjects of all the branchs which is not needed

Dislikes

Climate is hot during summer. But winters are appreciable
Mess food is not good that much.. but we can eat.

I chose this course because it has more scope in India as India is a developing country. It also has government jobs more than other fields. We can shift to it sector this is the flexibility of this course.

IIT Mandi- my home and karmbhoomi

Honestly I initially thought of branch change and college in some what cold place which led me to this college. Our college is moderate in comparison to other iits, obviously you cant compare it with old iits , but yeah its decent enough, having good students and friends. Placement of four college is better than other iits. Some years result in placement ogf good no. of students whereas some leads to okish. The sport facilities are ok. Swimming pool is not of olympic size and it requires lot of time for repair of the sport equipments. Admission process is through Jossa counselling after JEE Advanced. I applied for VIT, NIT BHOPAL, IIT Jodhpur, IIT Jammu, IIT BHU, IIT Ropar, NIT Durgapur, and many of the IITS and NITS. I choose only this so, didn't fill for confirmation for others. IIT Mandi

Because I am from Himachal, IIT Mandi was one of my top choices, and there was a certain optimistic feeling that drew me in after seeing the campus. The college is the IIT family's newest member. According to the new IIT, the college's placement record is excellent, and the staff is well-known for its innovative teaching methods. IIT Mandi offered a fantastic M.Tech in Power Electronics and Drives programme, which was just what I was looking for. To be accepted into the college, an applicant must pass the GATE exam and earn at least 60% in the B.Tech programme. After passing the GATE, the candidate must attend COAP counselling....Read More
