Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

First year was filled with many subjects which are useless to us in the long run. I am pursuing Computer Science Engineering, why am I being taught Chemistry, Physics, Civil Engineering? And no, the way these subjects were taught to us, they DEFINITELY did not prepare us for any real world stuff. Those subjects DID NOT teach us how to 'study hard' and 'focus'. They proved to be useless, and wasted a lot of our time. Things can be improved, if the institution actually listens to the student feedback regarding the faculties. We have complained before to replace a faculty or two, but nothing came of it, and instead, we were the one who were blamed. Exam frequencies are good, pretty much one of the few things that is actually good.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

I cannot recall the company names, but we have been approached by certain companies offering student upto 12k a month. However, all of these companies would charge 4-5k before they 'hire' you and 'pay' you. I avoided these and focused on the behemoth of online courses I have already purchased.

Placement Experience

3.5

Students get eligible for placements after 5th-6th semester, which is a good thing as skilled students can get placed sooner than others. Many companies visit the college, such as Wipro and what not. The usual package can range from 3.5 lakhs to 8 lakhs which is decent. I cannot say for certain about how many percentage of students get selected, but I can say for sure that if the student is anywhere decent, he will get placed. My plans after getting the degree is to keep improving my skills, and write a book which I have been thinking about for a while now, and hopefully publish it one day.

Fees and Financial Aid

Tution fee has increased from 125k to 155k in the span of 1 year which is insane in my opinion. The complete cost of my education, along with other small charges and whatnot costs me well over 600k for four years which is most definitely insane for a college like this. There are scholarships provided by the government which have financially aid many students, the name of which I cannot recall at the moment. I have actively avoided any on campus jobs or whatever, as I want to focus only on my studies and skills at the moment.

Campus Life

3.5

There are annual festivals which are fun, the festival is usually held in the winters/late winters which is the perfect time for any such event. These events are usually very fun and last for multiple days, and students can participate in various activities if they want. There are many kinds of books available in the vast library of IPS Academy. You can find many books related to whatever course you're in. Certain classrooms have projectors, and certain classrooms have a digital blackboard which is fun and interactive. This allows the faculties to get creative as well with their ways of teaching. There are on campus sports tournies, stuff which I do not know much about. I have actively avoided the student groups or clubs.

Admission

The admission was done on the basis of JEE Marks, and Board examination marks, but mainly JEE marks. Most students got the admission thanks to counseling which was a lifesaver. The application process was confusion, as there were not really mant clear directions given to the students. The cut-off for the college was not super high. There was nothing much which I did not like, it was all good, for the most part. Nothing I would say that needs changes.

Faculty

1.5

There are faculties who are very good at their job, but then there are some faculties (in the CS department) who do not know how to operate a computer well enough. There was this professor in year 1 who made us copy paste his notes during the 2 hour long labs instead of actually letting us practice the programming language on the computers. When he did let us practice on the computers, as it turned out, lots of computers were not working and 2-3 students had to share a single computer, and the faculty did not care whatsoever. I will go as far as to say that I have actively avoided interacting with certain faculties simply because how rude they can be. The situation can be so bad that we have gotten last minute notices for practical examinations, I personally have risked my life to get to the exam ASAP because of the last minute notice. When we complained to the HOD and a senior faculty, they blamed us instead of taking responsibility. How do such people qualify for jobs such as this?

Placement Experience:

Campus placements are moderate as comparatively less companies visits every year. Number of students for placements are more and companies visits are less that cause less placement ratio for on campus. Moreover upto the end of 8th semester almost 80% of students get placed both including on campus and off campus. My plan is to get a job after graduation.

Placement Experience:

Placements in college are quite good if we compare them with other similar state government engineering colleges. It has a separate TPO (training and placement office) cell which helps students in their placements. Some quite good companies like TCS and Wipro visit the campus for placements. Around 40% of students get placed every year. The highest being 11 LPA. Core competencies the lowest 3.5 LPA salary offered in IT sector companies. Reliance, LNT, Infosys were the top recruiters. Every year students go for internships in BHEL NTPC etc. Companies ( around 30%) Other 70% students go for local transmission plant as the internship is compulsory for everyone. Students organize cultural activities.

In my point of view If you can afford good fee you should never even think of this college. The college is only for local students or the students those do not have a good score and wants a college with no donation and students having strong will power that they will not mix up with the local students can go for the admission.
