Course Curriculum Overview
I chose the B.Pharma course because it offers a perfect blend of biology, chemistry, and practical healthcare. The specific aspect of the curriculum that influenced my decision was its strong emphasis on foundational medical subjects like Human Anatomy, Physiology, and Pharmaceutics, which provide a direct pathway into the pharmaceutical industry. In terms of relevance, the curriculum is incredibly comprehensive and aligns perfectly with the standards set by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI). While the teaching methods are excellent, one area for improvement in the curriculum would be the integration of more digital and software-based learning. Introducing advanced simulation tools for pharmacology or offering brief workshops on the latest pharmaceutical software would make us even more adaptable to the modern, tech-driven healthcare industry.
Placement Experience
Since I am currently in my first year (2nd semester), I have not directly participated in the campus placement drives yet. However, based on interactions with our seniors and the faculty, students typically become eligible for campus placements starting from the 7th semester (final year). The college has a highly active and dedicated placement cell that works hard to bring in reputed pharmaceutical and healthcare companies. Organizations like Apollo Pharmacy, Cipla, and Sun Pharma are known to recruit from our campus. The profiles offered to B.Pharma graduates generally include roles in Quality Control (QC), Quality Assurance (QA), Pharmacovigilance, and Clinical Data Management. From what we have been informed, the average package offered to freshers is around ₹3,00,000 per annum, with the highest packages going up to ₹4,50,000 to ₹5,000,000 per annum, depending on the recruiting company and the student's academic performance. A strong majority, roughly 70% to 80% of the students who actively participate in the placement process, successfully secure job offers. As for my personal plans after completing this degree, I aim to join the pharmaceutical industry to gain practical experience, ideally in clinical research or pharmacovigilance. Eventually, I plan to pursue a Master's degree (M.Pharm) to further specialize and advance my career in the healthcare sector.
Fees and Financial Aid
The total fee for the complete 4-year B.Pharma course is ₹2,60,000, which makes it a highly affordable and valuable investment for the quality of education provided. This breaks down to a consistent yearly fee of ₹65,000. One of the best parts about the fee structure here is its stability; the fees remain fixed for the duration of the course, so there are no sudden or unexpected hikes from year to year.
Campus Life
My overall experience with campus life at Vidya Siri College of Pharmacy has been incredibly vibrant, fulfilling, and well-balanced.The college library is excellent and highly accessible to all students. It houses a vast and updated range of pharmaceutical journals and standard medical reference books,The infrastructure is highly conducive to learning. Our classrooms are spacious, well-ventilated, and equipped with modern technological provisions like digital projectors and smart screens, which make the expert faculty's presentations highly interactive. The extracurricular and sports scene on campus is thriving. We have dedicated sports grounds where students actively engage in cricket, athletics, and indoor games.
Admission
I applied to a few other prominent pharmacy colleges in Bengaluru during my admission phase. While I did secure conditional admission in another institution, I ultimately chose Vidya Siri College of Pharmacy. When comparing parameters, Vidya Siri stood out significantly because of its highly qualified faculty, well-equipped practical laboratories, and a much more vibrant campus life, which I now actively participate in as the Social Media Club Secretary. Additionally, the fixed total fee of ₹2.6 Lakhs offered much better value for money compared to the higher management fees at the other colleges I considered. I did not face any direct rejections, but my state entrance ranking was slightly short for the top-tier, fully government-funded pharmacy colleges. However, looking back, I am extremely satisfied with my decision to join Vidya Siri, as the academic rigor and personalized mentorship here are exceptional. The admission process at Vidya Siri was very smooth and transparent. The basic eligibility for the B.Pharma course is passing the 10+2 examination (PUC or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Mathematics as core subjects, securing a minimum aggregate percentage as per university norms. The college accepts admissions through the state government quota via the KCET (Karnataka Common Entrance Test) as well as through the management quota. KCET is definitely the most preferred exam by local students. For students applying through the management route, the administrative staff is incredibly helpful with the documentation process, making the overall admission experience completely hassle-free and welcoming.
Faculty
The relationship between students and teachers is very professional, collaborative, and supportive. The professors are highly approachable and always willing to clear our doubts or guide us with extracurricular activities. All the professors are highly qualified, but I particularly appreciate the faculty handling subjects like Human Anatomy and Physiology, as well as Pharmaceutics.I honestly do not have any specific faculty members that I dislike; however, some professors are naturally much stricter regarding attendance, lab records, and deadlines. While it can be stressful, it definitely builds the discipline required for the healthcare industry. The course structure strictly follows the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) guidelines and is divided into semesters. For the exam system, we typically have two internal sessional exams per semester before the final university examinations. The exams are moderately difficult and genuinely test our conceptual knowledge rather than just rote learning. The marking scheme is very transparent and fair. Because the teaching quality is so high, the pass percentage in our batch is excellent, and very few students fail to clear the papers. Overall, the rigorous curriculum is highly relevant and perfectly designed to make us completely industry-ready.
Night Life
Located in Bengaluru, the surrounding locality is very safe to roam around in the early evenings. Our favorite hangout spots outside the campus include local cafes, bakeries, and street food stalls where we grab snacks after college.
