Eligibility Criteria
USIEF wants proven professionals, not fresh graduates. The degree structure and the experience rule filter most applicants out.

- Hold a US-equivalent bachelor's degree from a recognised Indian university with at least 55% marks.
- Show that equivalence through a four-year bachelor's or a completed master's. A full-time postgraduate diploma works if the bachelor's ran under four years.

- Demonstrate leadership and commitment to return and contribute to India.
Applications are invited only in specified fields. The list includes public health, journalism, environmental studies, international affairs, public administration and urban planning, among others. Who cannot apply
- Employees of the Government of India and state governments, including IAS, IPS, IRS, IFS and allied services.
- Bureaucratic staff in central and state ministries or departments.
- Applicants filing in more than one Fulbright-Nehru category in the same cycle.
Application Process
The application is free, online, and essay-heavy. One category per cycle is the unbreakable rule.
