The Global Citizen Scholarship is offered by the University of Adelaide to the international students. The scholarship is awarded to the students opting for graduate and undergraduate programs at the University of Adelaide.

Under the Global Citizens Scholarship of the University of Adelaide, shortlisted students get a tuition fee waiver of 15% to 30%. The academic performance of the students defines the amount of tuition fee waiver.

High performing students have a chance to get a maximum tuition fee waiver. The tuition fee waiver is provided to the student until the student completes the program. The scholarship is renewed on an annual basis.

Eligibility Criteria

All the international students who have taken admissions at the University of Adelaide are considered for the scholarship. Applicants have to meet the eligibility criteria as stated by the university:

  • Candidate must be admitted to a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate program of 2020 at the University of Adelaide.
  • To get the 15% tuition waiver, for an undergraduate program, a minimum raw ATAR* equivalent of 80 is needed.
  • To get a 30% tuition waiver, for an undergraduate program, a minimum raw ATAR equivalent of 90 is needed.
  • To get 15% tuition waiver, for a postgraduate program, a minimum GPA of 5.0 out of 7 is needed
  • To get 30% tuition waiver, for a postgraduate program, a minimum GPA of 6.0 out of 7 is needed
  • All international students except students from Australia and New Zealand are eligible for the Global Citizens Scholarship
  • Students from any discipline are eligible.

Terms and Conditions

Students will be considered ineligible for the Global Citizens Scholarship if they:

  • Have been awarded scholarships, to cover tuition and fees, by a Government department or agency.
  • Are already studying at the University of Adelaide and are transferring from one program to another.
  • Have applied to Masters by Research and Ph.D. programs.

Several programs are exempted from the Global Citizens Scholarship. The list of exempted programs is mentioned below:


Application Process

Candidates are not required to apply separately for the scholarship as the University of Adelaide will automatically consider the candidate for the scholarship if he/she meets the eligibility criteria for the Global Citizens Scholarship at the time of admissions.


Selection Process

Students are shortlisted for the Global Citizens Scholarship if they meet the minimum GPA requirement at the time of admissions. Students opting for undergraduate programs at University of Adelaide must have scored a minimum raw ATAR equivalent of 80 to get a 15% tuition fee waiver and 90 to get a 30% tuition fee waiver.

Students opting for Master level programs at the University of Adelaide must have scored a minimum of 5.0 GPA to get a 15% tuition fee waiver and a 6.0 GPA to get a 30% tuition fee waiver.

Additionally, students must have been admitted into the program before the closing deadline of the scholarship. Post the closing deadline, no other candidates will be considered.


Grant Details

Once students have accepted their offer letters to study at the University of Adelaide’s full-time programs, they are considered automatically for the scholarship. Candidates who are chosen to be a recipient of the scholarship will receive a tuition waiver for the entire program.

If the candidate has to repeat any year, they would have to pay the repeated year’s tuition themselves. Students also need to maintain their international student status to continue receiving their scholarship awards.
