Ever since a very young age, I’ve noticed that I’m quite concerned about the well-being of people around me. Personally, I’ve always given every ounce of my effort to help people overcome their grief or problems. This keen interest in psychological wellness influenced me to pursue my bachelor’s degree in counselling from [name of the university]. I’ve received a scholarship of —- from the government of India for higher studies. My academic background instilled many important skills that would be beneficial for me in fulfilling my future professional ambitions as well as my personal growth as a human being. I had special interest in subfields of marriage and family therapy and mental health counselling.

Apart from my academic experiences, I’ve been a part of my high school and college badminton team. I’ve represented my school and college at a national level and have been recognised and awarded at numerous events. I’ve also been a part of my school’s literary and cultural club. I enjoy writing short stories and poems. I’ve also been the winner of many dance competitions. I like being at charge and carrying out responsibilities. To be specific, I want to specialise in mental health counselling because I believe Human mind and mental processes have always fascinated me. I believe the human mind is an incredible creation and it alone has the capability to both build and destroy things. A human nous, his state of being is a repercussion of his perpetual experience, Emotional experience, consciousness, intellect and much else. The experiences that we carry along from every juncture of our life moulds our mental processes. And if mental health is hampered in any way, it can have adverse effects on the whole personality. I’m keenly interested in marriage and family therapy as a person gets tremendously affected by disturbances and grief in his family or married life. I want to understand the mindset of the people who are deeply traumatised due to family and marriage related matters by doing further research in it. I’m applying for the masters degree in counselling because I’m anxious and concerned about a person's overall mental health and wellness. I want to be able to help them to the fullest in giving them appropriate solutions to their problems, to bring happiness and peace to their lives and make them understand the value of mental health.

I’ve voluntarily been a part of a NGO named ——— since the past three years. The NGO is home to one hundred and thirty old people belonging to diverse backgrounds. Working there has made me a good listener and has developed a compassionate attitude within me. I’m extremely fortunate to be exposed to people from different fields of life carrying numerous life experiences. Helping people makes me feel good and I’ve been completely engrossed in the lives of those people and the development of the NGO. I’ve also participated in many social change campaigns and have raised my voice against discrimination of the LGBTQ community and women.
