  • The primary October 2026 intake deadline is 31 July 2026, with teaching starting 5 October.
  • Base UG tuition sits at £16,800 (₹21.47 Lakhs). DMU charges no application fee for direct PG applications; UG applicants pay £28.95 (₹3,700) via UCAS.

  • Acceptance rate is estimated at 42 to 45%, based on published offer-to-applicant patterns; DMU does not publish an official institutional figure.

Popular programmes at De Montfort University include the MSc in International Business and Management, the MSc in Cyber Security, the MBA Global, and the BSc in Computer Science. Indian students cite stackable scholarships and the credibility-interview route as reasons for choosing DMU over more selective UK peers.

De Montfort University Eligibility Criteria for Indian Students

De Montfort University applies subject-level entry bands set by faculty. The floors for Indian applicants sit at the accessible end of the UK spectrum, though Law, Media, and Science courses run higher English requirements than Business or Computing. Bands come from the DMU India entry-requirements page.

De Montfort University Undergraduate Eligibility

  • Academic floor: Class XII 65% average in the four best subjects, excluding Hindi.
  • Class 10 check: DMU may verify Class 10 results in English and Mathematics.
  • Subject prerequisites: Engineering and Science expect Mathematics and Physics through Class XII.
  • Advanced entry: Year 2 or 3 entry needs detailed transcripts and grading scale mapping.

De Montfort University Postgraduate Eligibility

  • Academic floor: Bachelor’s degree at 50 to 60%, varying by university and course.
  • Subject match: Some courses expect a related bachelor’s, portfolio, or documented work experience.
  • MBA route: Bachelor’s 2:2 (around 50 to 55%) in any subject, or five years of managerial experience.
  • Research route: UK Honours 2:1 (around 60 to 65%) or a completed master’s degree.

DMU accepts several English proficiency tests, all mapped to institutional IELTS bands. Certificates should be less than two years old at the point of application.

Test UG floor (IELTS 6.0 band) PG floor (IELTS 6.5 band)
IELTS Academic 6.0-7.5 overall, no band below 5.5 6.0-6.5 overall, no band below 6.0
PTE Academic 59 overall, 59 in each 61 overall, 59 in each
TOEFL iBT 60 (R8, L7, S16, W18) 79 (R8, L7, S16, W18)

De Montfort University IELTS Waiver for Indian Students

DMU accepts an English Medium of Instruction (MOI) pathway for Indian applicants whose Class XII was fully taught and examined in English. IGCSE or GCSE English at Grade C or above is also accepted in place of IELTS. Where the MOI route is used, the CAS deposit floor rises to £10,000 (₹12.78 Lakhs) instead of the standard 50% of tuition. That trade-off matters for cash-flow planning.

Insider note: Applicants from Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Gujarat face the full first-year tuition as their CAS deposit regardless of the English route. If your home state falls in this list, budget the deposit before you apply.

De Montfort University Postgraduate Programmes

De Montfort University offers over 90 taught master’s programmes across four faculties: Business and Law (BAL), Computing, Engineering and Media (CEM), Health and Life Sciences (HLS), and Arts, Design and Humanities (ADH). UG applications are submitted through UCAS, which charges its own £28.95 (₹3,700) fee for up to five course choices. Foundation year routes exist for applicants below the Class XII 65% floor.

De Montfort University MBA Admissions

The MBA Global runs from Leicester Castle Business School as a one-year full-time programme. The 2026-27 tuition sits at £20,300 (₹25.95 Lakhs). Entry does not require GMAT or GRE, which sets DMU apart from Russell Group MBA gates. Details below reflect the DMU MBA Global programme page as of July 2026.

De Montfort University MBA Entry Requirements

Applicants normally hold a bachelor’s degree with a 2:2 (around 50 to 55% Indian equivalent) in any subject. The no-degree pathway substitutes a minimum of five years of managerial experience for the bachelor’s. IELTS 6.0 with 5.5 in each band is essential.

De Montfort University MBA Intake and Application

Leicester Castle Business School offers the MBA Global in the October primary intake, with a January intake for select cohorts. Applications go via the DMU Hub portal, and there is no application fee. Some candidates are called to a short competency interview before an offer, though most decisions are transcript-based.

De Montfort University Application Process

Undergraduate applicants apply through UCAS. Postgraduate and PhD applicants use the DMU Hub. Both routes ask for the same academic and English proficiency documents, but the DMU Hub allows direct offers without waiting for UCAS reference batching.

  1. Shortlist your programme using the DMU course finder and confirm the entry band on the course page.
  2. Prepare documents: passport, Class X, XII, and bachelor’s transcripts, IELTS or equivalent, personal statement of about 500 words.
  3. Create an account on the DMU Hub for PG or PhD, or the UCAS portal for UG.
  4. Pay the application fee where applicable. UG UCAS charges £28.95 (₹3,700). PG and PhD applications on the DMU Hub carry no application fee.
  5. Submit and track the application. Most decisions arrive within five working days.
  6. Book the credibility interview once you receive the conditional offer. This is mandatory for Indian applicants.
  7. Pay the CAS deposit (£4,000 to £10,000 or ₹5.11 to ₹12.78 Lakhs depending on route) and collect the CAS letter.
  8. Apply for the UK Student Visa once the CAS is issued.

Programme officers respond by email within five working days for most application types. Courses with academic referral (Law, Health) may take longer.

De Montfort University Admission Decisions

DMU issues conditional and unconditional offers by email. The turnaround is short compared with Russell Group timelines. Understanding what follows the offer letter matters as much as the offer itself.

  • Offer timing: Most decisions arrive within five working days of a complete application.
  • Conditional offers: Common for Indian applicants who apply during Class XII or bachelor’s final year.
  • Acceptance window: Confirm the offer within four weeks and pay the CAS deposit.
  • Credibility interview: Required for Indian applicants, tests knowledge of programme, funding, and study intent.
  • Deferral: Deferral to the next intake is possible for most programmes with a written request before CAS issuance.

Insider note: The credibility interview is not a formality. UKVI-aligned questions cover funding sources, programme fit, and post-study plans. Applicants who cannot explain how tuition will be paid, or who confuse DMU with another Leicester institution, are declined.

De Montfort University Documents Required

DMU asks for a consistent document set across UG, PG, and PhD routes. Everything is uploaded as a scan or PDF on the DMU Hub or UCAS portal. Certified translations are needed only where the original is not in English.

  • Scanned passport photo page showing passport number and nationality.
  • Class X, Class XII, and bachelor’s degree transcripts and certificates.
  • English proficiency test report (IELTS, PTE, TOEFL, Duolingo, or LanguageCert).
  • Personal statement of about 500 words explaining programme fit.
  • Two academic references (or one academic and one professional for PhD or DBA).
  • Portfolio for Art, Design, and select Media courses.
  • Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) certificate for certain Engineering and Science courses.
  • Curriculum vitae (CV) for PG and PhD applicants.
  • Work experience letters for MBA applicants relying on the five-year experience route.

Financial-proof documents are required at the CAS stage, not at the application stage.

De Montfort University Acceptance Rate

De Montfort University does not publish an official institutional acceptance rate. Third-party admission trackers estimate the overall figure at 42 to 45%, based on published offer-to-applicant patterns and yield disclosures. Undergraduate intake trackers run marginally higher than postgraduate. DMU sits in the QS 801 to 850 band for 2026.

De Montfort University Undergraduate Acceptance Rate

UG acceptance is estimated near 52%, driven by the accessible Class XII 65% floor and open UCAS points profile. Business, Computing, and Media courses see the highest offer conversion. Law and select Science courses run tighter English bands, which brings the effective rate closer to 40%.

De Montfort University Postgraduate Acceptance Rate

PG acceptance is estimated near 40% across taught master’s, with subject weighting. MSc programmes in Data Analytics, Cyber Security, and International Business are the most contested for Indian applicants, so a bachelor’s above 60% carries an offer advantage. MBA Global sees higher yield among five-year-experience applicants than fresh graduates.

De Montfort University’s admissions route is one of the more accessible in the UK for Indian students, with Class XII 65% for undergraduates, bachelor’s 50 to 60% for master’s, and IELTS 6.0 to 6.5 by faculty. The October 2026 intake closes on 31 July, so the credibility interview and CAS deposit sit within four weeks of application.

Scholarship

  • Yes, I received a scholarship before getting the unconditional offer from DMU. There's no such name for this scholarship and the eligibility criteria are that if the student pays 50% of the course fee within 30 days of the conditional offer being offered by the university, then the student is eligible for this scholarship.
  • The amount was £1,000, which was deducted from the overall course fee.
  • Many of my batchmates received the same scholarship from the university.

Scholarship

  • Yes, I received a scholarship but that was a part of the partnership that DMU had with my college (The Vedica Scholars Programme for Women).
  • I received a 50% scholarship. Considering that I was not doing the full course, I had to pay 12000 pounds but because of the scholarship, I paid half of that i.e., 6000 pounds.
  • Yes, my batchmates from Vedica who joined DMU received an equivalent scholarship.
  • I do not have an idea about the number of students who receive scholarship but I have heard that they reduce the fees based on your previous academic performance.

  • I didn't receive any scholarship during my course Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology for De Montfort University. I was late to apply for the scholarship as my admission was done in last minutes.
  • One of my friend actually received scholarship from University. The amount was about £2000.
  • It is heard that De Montfort University provides scholarship for about 10 to 25% students considering various categories.

  • There is scholarship available for people who have prior work experience. I had 3 years of work experience, So I got £2000 worth of scholarship. It also depends on the interview. If they think you are worth the money, they will surely give you discounts and help you with accomodations. In my class, I think 25% of the people got scholarship and all of them had prior work experience. They typical amount that people get is £2000 in my knowledge.

Overview

I chose this country since I did not require a Visa here. The reason I chose this University because it was the highest rated in the shortlist I had since I just had 2 years of work experience, I was limited to options. Overall it was a good experience since it was a very new experience, just had issues with getting a job.

Overview

This University ticked all the boxes that I had in mind for a great place to do career advancement for the next two years. One of the many things I like about this university is the enormous-beautiful-widespread campus, Its global rankings, the courses they offered, their UK rankings , employment opportunities after graduation, and finally a good life off campus as well.

Scholarship

Yes, I did receive an MBA scholarship worth 2500 GBP. I submitted a 1000 words essay on why I think I am eligible for this scholarship. This scholarship is very rare and is given to exceptional students as a token of appreciation for their hard work and excellence in a particular field.
