All applicants, regardless of the program one is applying to also need to submit an English language test score to prove their proficiency. Undergraduate applications are done through UCAS and postgraduate applications are done through the university’s application portal.

Visa Process for International Students

Applicants from non-European countries are required to have a visa, to be able to study at Newcastle University. There are two types of visa, depending on the term of the course. If the course is for less than 6 months, one needs to apply for a short-term study visa. For courses more than 6 months, a tier 4 visa needs to be applied. A visa application fee of £348 needs to be paid for a Tier 4 visa.

Process of applying for Tier 4 visa

  • Obtain the Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies or CAS. This will be given by Newcastle University
  • Provide an Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) certificate. This needs to be applied for depending on the course. The ATAS certificate takes 30 days to process
  • Submit documents to prove sufficient funds are there
  • Submit all documents mentioned in the CAS. Translate if required
  • Complete the visa application form online.
  • Appear for an interview on the given date.
