    Being one of the top universities in the UK, Newcastle University has a low acceptance rate. With an acceptance rate of just 19.29%, Newcastle University admissions are highly selective. In 2020, out of the total 23,250 applications, only 4485 applications were accepted and granted admission. 

    It is a public research university established in 1834 as the College of Medicine. Newcastle University has over 22,000 undergraduate and around 29,000 Graduate students enrolled with more than 7,000 students as international. Programs offered by Newcastle University include over 175 undergraduate degrees and 200 postgraduate degrees offered through its three faculties, namely, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Faculty of Medical Sciences, and the Faculty of Science, Engineering, and Agriculture.

    Every program has its own admission requirements, deadlines, and criteria. Pathways and foundation programs are available for applicants who do not meet the minimum eligibility criteria. International applicants must submit English Proficiency Test Scores (TOEFL, IELTS, or equivalent).

    Newcastle University Admission Deadlines

    Post-graduate students have rolling admissions. General admission deadlines for undergraduate courses are given below. Students are recommended to follow the deadlines and start their admission process well before time to ensure a smooth application process and enough time for visa procedures.

    Test Scores for International Students

    Visa Process for International Students

    • To study in the United Kingdom, students can need to first decide which type of visa is required. A short-term study visa is valid up to 6 months for most short courses and can be extended up to 11 months for English language courses, whereas Tier 4 Student Visa is used for a longer course.
    • You can apply for it three months in advance once you have been accepted into the college.

      • A recent photograph
      • Confirmation of Acceptance Studies (CAS) form by a licensed Tier 4 Sponsor institute.
      • Proof of financial support (bank statement/letter from your financial sponsor)
      • Academic Technology Approval Scheme Certificate, (applicable if you are not an EEA/Swiss Student studying a sensitive subject)
      • Biometric Residence Permit, if you have one
      • Academic qualifications
    • Following are some optional/additional requirements that may be asked for:
      • Original birth certificate (if parents are funding)

      • Written consent from parent/guardian (if below 18 years of age, or using their funds)

    Once your visa application is successful, you will get your passport back and you will have 30 days to enter the UK where you will book an appointment at a visa application center to submit your biometric information and documents. Make sure to print your UKVI checklist and take it to your appointment.

    The University takes into consideration multiple factors such as your age, any previous employment, curriculum, ranks, GPA, personal statement, relevant test scores, relevant work during gaps of deferment (if applicable), recommendation letters, extra-curricular activities, overall profile, so on and so forth. They aim at giving the admission decision within 15 days of receiving the application. If you live outside the UK/EU you must:

    • pay a deposit of 1,500 GBP
    • or submit an official letter of sponsorship

    The deposit is payable after you receive an offer to study at Newcastle University. The deposit is non-refundable, but it will deduct it from your tuition fees when you register.

    Ans. Personal Statements highlight those aspects which are not explicit through your academic qualifications alone, such as skills, achievements, ambitions, future plans, etc. They also give students a platform to express what makes them a good candidate for the course.

    Ans. The University is providing for the course online via INTO Newcastle.

    Ques. When will I receive Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies Statement?

    Ans. Once the University evaluates your application, it may accept it conditionally or unconditionally. In case it has been accepted conditionally, you will first be required to fulfill those conditions. Secondly, you are required to accept your offer in UCAS. Once these requirements are met, the University will contact you regarding the CAS.

    Ques. Does the institute offer conditional offer letters?

    Ans. Yes, students can receive either of the following outcomes after applying:

    1. Conditional Offer: This means that the university requires the applicant to meet certain criteria before admitting unconditionally.
    2. Unconditional Offer: The Applicant has been accepted.
    3. Rejection: The applicant has not been accepted and will not be accepted for the course opted by the Applicant.

    However, students can opt for UCAS Extra, in case of rejection, if they are eligible.

    Ques. I am required to take an English Language Test for admission to my degree program. What if I can't take the test?

    Ans. The University is now accepting the Password Skills test for 2020 entry onwards. The test is now available to students who have been made an offer to study at Newcastle University. Additionally, we are now accepting the TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition test.
