  • The university publishes no private-neighbourhood average, so no cheaper-area claim is made.
  • The current visa evidence rule requires £1,171 (INR 1.53 Lakhs) monthly outside London, up to nine months.

Note: The university estimate uses £688 (INR 89,791) to £1,436 (INR 1.87 Lakhs) monthly. Visa evidence uses £1,171 (INR 1.53 Lakhs) monthly, up to nine months.

For January 2027 housing, reserve £2,220.12 (INR 2.90 Lakhs). The first instalment is due on 5 February 2027.

Currency Tip: For January 2027, show the scholarship in your offer before paying 50% tuition. A 2-3% exchange spread on £7,720 (INR 10.08 Lakhs) changes cash need. The change is about INR 20,151 to INR 30,226. For September 2027 UG planning, wait for the next official rate. Convert the full-year payment afterward.

Total Cost of Studying at Leeds Beckett University

The average first-year MSc Data Science budget is £29,518 (INR 38.52 Lakhs). This includes the scholarship and one-year visa comparison. The budget uses 12 months of postgraduate living expenses.

Tuition is net of the automatic PG scholarship. The visa and Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) column shows one year. The IHS is paid upfront for the full visa period.

  • The tuition cell uses £15,440 (INR 20.15 Lakhs) after the automatic scholarship.
  • The living period is 12 months, not the nine-month visa evidence maximum.
  • The 50% tuition payment reduces the balance. It is not an additional fee.
  • The visa fee is £558 (INR 72,825), while the one-year IHS comparison is £776 (INR 1.01 Lakhs).
  • The actual student IHS for an 18-month visa period is £1,164 (INR 1.52 Lakhs), paid upfront.

At unchanged current rates, full-programme tuition plus average 12-month living is £28,184 (INR 36.78 Lakhs). That equals INR 0.37 Crore. An education loan of INR 40 Lakhs at 10.5% for ten years creates an equated monthly instalment (EMI). The EMI is about INR 54,000.

Key Insight: The automatic award saves £3,000 (INR 3.92 Lakhs) before the 31 May 2027 balance date. No full-payment discount is published. Confirm the scholarship before the next instalment.

Leeds Beckett University Tuition Deposit and Payment Options

Leeds Beckett requires at least 50% of first-year tuition after scholarships. It does not publish one flat international deposit. Some applicants may need 100% before CAS.

The examples below assume eligibility for the automatic scholarship. Your offer letter controls the final payment amount and date.

Route50% payment after scholarship (GBP and INR)CAS timingBalance timing

Methods of payment:

  • Bank transfer using the university payment instructions.
  • Flywire or Convera through the university payment route.
  • Forex card or another bank card after comparing the exchange markup.
  • Education-loan disbursement, with the student responsible for university due dates.

A 2-3% exchange spread applies to the £7,720 (INR 10.08 Lakhs) PG payment. It equals about INR 20,151 to INR 30,226. The provider’s rate can change the final rupee debit.

Steps to pay the tuition fee for international students:

  1. Accept the conditional or unconditional offer.
  2. Meet the 50% tuition requirement after any scholarship.
  3. Submit the CAS request with the payment receipt.
  4. Pay the balance using the invoice schedule.
  5. Keep every receipt for the visa file and bank records.

Payment in full is available, but no full-payment discount is published. The January 2027 50/50 example places the remaining PG balance on 31 May 2027. That balance is £7,720 (INR 10.08 Lakhs).

Note: January 2027 applicants should keep the 50% payment receipt ready before the CAS request. The published balance example is 31 May 2027.

Fee Saving Strategies for Indian Students

The January 2027 route has one confirmed saving. The automatic PG scholarship removes £3,000 (INR 3.92 Lakhs) before the 50% CAS payment.

  • Choose an ensuite at £4,440 (INR 5.79 Lakhs) instead of a studio. The studio costs £5,880 (INR 7.67 Lakhs). The difference is £1,440 (INR 1.88 Lakhs).
  • Part-time work can support living expenses, but term-time work is normally limited to 20 hours weekly.
  • Section 80E of India’s Income-tax Act may allow education-loan interest relief, subject to eligibility.
  • Check the fee band before choosing the MBA. Its £19,060 (INR 24.88 Lakhs) annual rate exceeds standard taught PG tuition by £620 (INR 80,916).
  • The Graduate Route gives 18 months when the application is made on or after 1 January 2027.

The 18-month post-study route changes repayment planning. A shorter work period requires stronger evidence before borrowing the full budget.

Tip for Indian Students: The highest-value January 2027 saving is £3,000 (INR 3.92 Lakhs). Check that it appears in the offer before transferring the 50% tuition amount.

Is Leeds Beckett University Worth the Cost for Indian Students

Leeds Beckett can make financial sense at INR 38.52 Lakhs for MSc Data Science, with 94% graduate employability reported.

The 2026 Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University ranking band is 1001-1200.

QS places Hospitality and Leisure Management in the 51-100 subject band. That evidence supports hospitality-specific value, but it does not establish an individual salary.

A salary comparison is omitted because no current official median salary was available. A INR 40 Lakh education loan creates an equated monthly instalment (EMI). It costs about INR 54,000 monthly over ten years at 10.5%.

For a January 2027 entrant, the Graduate Route rule in force for applications after 1 January 2027 is 18 months. That shorter period makes the net fee after the INR 3.92 Lakhs scholarship more important.

MSc Data Science needs INR 32.67 to INR 44.38 Lakhs for its first year. The automatic PG award saves INR 3.92 Lakhs, while the 50% payment controls early cash. A INR 40 Lakh loan has an EMI of INR 54,000 monthly; await the January deadline before borrowing.

  • The course was up to date with the latest research.
  • I was given research experience as a part of my dissertation. I conducted primary research on the effects of Kapalbhati on Resting Metabolic Rate.

  • The MBA course was okay, not too tough but not super easy either the professors explained things clearly and used real examples from business instead of just boring theory, which helped a lot we had group work and discussions, which made things more practical. I liked that we could actually understand how things apply in real life instead of just reading stuff from slides
  • One of the most positive aspects was the support we received from the course director and faculty; they were genuinely approachable and the course was structured well. It encouraged independent research, especially while working on assignments. However, one downside was the lack of clear communication regarding schedule changes. If a lecture was cancelled or rescheduled, it was usually updated on the MyBeckett portal, but there wasn’t any formal email notification, which sometimes led to confusion.
  • The best part was how much support we got from our course director and all the teachers. They were honestly super easy to talk to, which made a big difference, and the course itself was put together really well. It even pushed us to do our own research, especially when we had assignments, which was actually pretty cool.
  • The only real hassle was when the schedule changed. If a class got cancelled or moved, they'd update it on the MyBeckett portal, but we never got an email about it. That could definitely cause some confusion sometimes.
  • In my MBA course at the City Campus, there were around 20–25 students in total. Out of them, about 10 students were Indian. Since the batch size was small, we weren’t divided further, and we mostly had classes together in the same group.
  • Class timings were usually between 10 AM and 3 PM. Mostly one or two lectures a day, with breaks in between. It gave us some breathing space—especially if you were working part-time or needed time to prep for assignments.

Fees

  • So my MBA tuition at Leeds Beckett was around £14,500 for the year. I paid it in two chunks—one before getting my CAS, the other after I landed in the UK. That’s kind of the norm there. Most folks split it into two or three payments, depending on their course and what the university says.
  • For housing, the university accommodation was somewhere between £400 and £700/month. Depends on the room, obviously. I didn’t go for that, though. Found a private flat for around £350 a month—bills included, which helped.
  • Here’s roughly what I spent per month:
    • Rent – £350
    • Groceries – maybe £100–150
    • Transport – £40–60 (with a student pass)
    • Phone recharge – £10
    • Other stuff—like £80–120 (eating out, random shopping)
  • Altogether, I usually spent around £700 to £800 a month, give or take. Not too bad, especially once I got a part-time job.

  • The difficulty of my course curriculum was moderate according to me. The professors would go through each topic in the lectures with students. But it was less theoretical and more about real-life examples and practical activities to understand those concepts.
  • The most positive aspect, of course, was that the course director and faculty were extremely helpful and the course was very well designed. It pushed every student to do their individual research and then write their assignments. The most negative part was that few things remained unclear, as most of the communication about cancelled or delayed lectures happened through updating the portal called MyBeckett. There was no formal mailer sent to the students informing the same.
  • 3-4 lectures are typically scheduled in a day. And timings start from 9 AM until 6 PM BST.
  • In my batch there were around 20 students.
  • Approx. 12 students were Indian in my batch.

Fees

  • Tuition fee – 15 lacs
  • Hostel – 10 lacs
  • The fees at the university are charged in 2 halves. One can pay the fee in one go, should they wish to. But majorly the fee is paid in 2 instalments. If anyone is struggling to pay the fee in 2 instalments as well, they can speak to the administration, and they can put a pay plan in place for them.
  • Rent per month – 500 Gbp, Transport – 70 GBP, Groceries – 100 GBP, Miscellaneous – 100 GBP

  • I would say that modules in the course were fairly tough and were specialised according to the demand of the course I have chosen, and related to the prospects of the profession while also touching various other perspectives such as Bio-mechanists, Exercise Physiologists etc. Moreover, my course was a mic of both practical and theoretical learning, in labs and lecture halls.
  • As stated earlier, initially the positives and negatives that stand out to me is educational purpose that the degree has served me, along with that placement opportunities would have made it more sound for students like me,
  • Usually one or two classes, but 3-4 days a week with a mix of practical seminars and theoretical lectures or Online webinars as well.
  • I had quite a lot Indian students in my course, roughly about 40-45 Indian students.

Fees

  • Since, my course was a masters course (postgraduate taught course) an year long course hence my fees was 16000 GBP.. and had to be paid within one go method (prior to the September) after accepting the Acceptance/Offer letter or could be paid in two instalments (once in Sept and then one no later than January i.e. before the second semester).
  • Estimation of the monthly expenses is highly dependable, although I lived in the students which are relatively on the higher end, but I wanted to experience this and was an amazing one.. it was around 630 GBP bills included (Rent, Electricity, Gas, Wifi etc); but my friends had taken over cheaper options such as flat share, house share with inclusive packages ranging from 450 GBP-580 GBP. So it really depends on the students making their own choices about housing etc..
  • As for groceries the average costs for a month was around 180-250 GBP, travel expenses were not that much for me, as I lived at walking distance to the Uni, and we had shuttle buses to travel between campuses which were absolutely free of cost.
  • Travelling and outing costs about around 100-120 GBP, again depending on person to person.

  • The course is pretty easy but the difficulty is that it is very subjective. It is quite practical which I like but there's also a bit of theory.
  • There's quite a lot of case studies used to explain different theories of modules which helps a lot. There's lectures and seminars for each module.
  • Lectures are on mondays. They are an hour long and they usually brief you about the topic for the week. You will then have a seminar in the week for the same module and same topic. Seminars are two hours long and more interactive and in general are more engaging and you get to learn more in depth about the topic.
  • There are around 150 students in my course. All 150 attend lectures together on Monday. Seminar groups are smaller and have around 20-25 students in each seminar. There are around 15-20 Indian students in my course.

Fees

  • The fees for my course is £14,000 per annum.
  • When it comes to accommodation it can be very variable. You can choose to stay in a student accommodation where you get your own rooms and share a flat with other students and have a common kitchen and utility space.Student accommodations are usually a bit on the expensive side that can range from anywhere between £5000 for a one year contract to £14,000 a year for expensive studio accommodations.
  • Expenses also depend completely on you. On an average your expenses can be around £200-£300 a month. Your expenses also depend on where you stay in the UK. London and other major cities down south are more expensive than cities up north like Leeds.

As I mentioned earlier, it was a great experience I had in Leeds Beckett, the curriculum was totally updated with the industry standard, we had a lot of industrial exposures as well as research opportunities as well. We worked with UKs biggest PR agency PRCA and CIPR. We also collaborated with sheffield hallam university for industry presentations during our course.
