Tips and Tricks for Indian Applicants

  • Strengthen Your Profile Sans Experience: If from non-CS background, showcase online projects (e.g., Kaggle datasets on Indian e-commerce trends) in your SOP—Teesside prioritizes potential over pedigree.
  • Early Bird Edge: Submit by December 2025 for Vice-Chancellor's auto-consideration; use the portal's progress tracker. Tie your statement to UK's data ethics focus, like "Mitigating biases in Aadhaar-linked AI."
  • Visa Fast-Track: Prove funds with SBI education loans (up to ₹20 Lakh) as evidence for Tier 4; apply via VFS in January 2026 post-CAS. Teesside's pre-CAS checklist webinar (book via email) cuts rejection risks.
  • Scholarship Maximizer: For Vice-Chancellor's, upload GPA transcripts early; stack with Global Excellence (non-exclusive). Indians often win 10-15% of awards—highlight leadership like NSS volunteering.
  • Affordability Plays: Choose on-campus housing (£400-£600/month) via guaranteed first-year scheme; use Teesside's Indian Society for shared cooking to slash grocery bills by 30%. Forex via Thomas Cook for 1% better rates.
  • Networking Nugget: Attend virtual India open days (register on site) and LinkedIn connect with "Teesside Data Science Alumni India" for endorsement tips—focus on project pitches.

  • I found the accommodation through my friend. You can find some from online markets as well
  • The monthly rent at that time was only £100 only and it is not the case now. It was excluding bills
  • I didn't face any challenge because my friend had secured an accommodation through his friend. Therefore it was stress-free.
  • Please look for accommodations as soon as possible. The number of students has increased and it is now difficult to find one with reasonable price
  • My accommodation was just 5 mins walking distance from the Uni
