University of South Wales fees for Indian students are £16,800 to £17,200 (INR 21.50 to 22.01 Lakhs) at undergraduate level and £17,900 (INR 22.90 Lakhs) for one-year Masters. Popular Indian-student picks include MSc Data Science, MSc Computer Systems Security, and MBA Global at £18,970 (INR 24.27 Lakhs).

With UK Student Visa processing taking three to eight weeks, September 2026 entry is only workable if your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies is already issued. New Indian applicants should target January 2027 for taught Masters (a PG-only intake), or September 2027 for the full range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

Headline University of South Wales fees for Indian applicants:

  • Undergraduate (Business, Humanities): £16,800 per year, INR 21.50 Lakhs
  • Undergraduate (Engineering, Sciences, Cyber Security): £17,200 per year, INR 22.01 Lakhs
  • Postgraduate Masters (standard): £17,900 per year, INR 22.90 Lakhs
  • MBA Global and PhD: £18,970 per year, INR 24.27 Lakhs
  • International Office Scholarship: £1,500 to £2,500, INR 1.92 to 3.20 Lakhs (auto-applied)

External Indian scholarships targeted by USW-bound students (Inlaks Shivdasani, JN Tata Endowment, KC Mahindra) close between March and May each year, so September 2027 aspirants should prepare applications for the early 2027 window. The GREAT Scholarship India of £10,000 (INR 12.80 Lakhs) for USW opens annually with a March deadline.

USW asks for a 50 percent deposit of first-year tuition before issuing the CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies, the document needed for the Student Visa). For a standard Masters that deposit is £8,950 (INR 11.45 Lakhs), due six to eight weeks before your intake starts as printed on your offer letter, and it counts toward tuition. The remaining 50 percent falls due at registration during induction week. USW does not currently publish a full-payment discount, so plan the balance instalment into your Year 1 cash flow.

A one-year MSc at USW works out to approximately INR 41.15 Lakhs including tuition, living, visa and Immigration Health Surcharge. A three-year undergraduate degree totals close to INR 1.07 to 1.08 Crore before scholarships.

January 2027 Intake: Application Window Now Open

Intake: January 2027 is the next realistic entry for new Indian applicants and is a taught-Masters only cycle (PG-only intake). September 2027 opens the full range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. September 2026 is no longer achievable for fresh applications because UK Student Visa processing runs three to eight weeks.

Fee update: January 2027 entrants are billed at the 2026/27 rate of £17,900 (INR 22.90 Lakhs) for standard Masters and £18,970 (INR 24.27 Lakhs) for MBA Global. September 2027 entrants move to the 2027/28 rate, expected to rise three to five percent, roughly £550 to £900 more per year.

When to pay: The 50 percent deposit (£8,950, INR 11.45 Lakhs for standard PG) is due on the date printed on your offer letter, typically six to eight weeks before your intake starts. Bank transfers from India need a five to seven working day lead time. The 50 percent balance is due at registration during induction. USW does not offer a full-payment discount.

Scholarships: The International Office Scholarship (£1,500 to £2,500, INR 1.92 to 3.20 Lakhs) is auto-applied for self-funded offer holders and requires no separate form. GREAT Scholarship India for September 2027 opens later in 2026 with a March 2027 deadline. Inlaks, JN Tata, KC Mahindra and Aga Khan external awards close March to May 2027.

University of South Wales Tuition Fees by Programme

USW splits international undergraduate fees into two bands and prices postgraduate taught degrees at a single Masters rate, with a small uplift for the MBA Global and PhD. The 2026/27 rates below apply to the September 2026 and January 2027 intakes and are among the lowest in the UK for Indian students seeking a Cyber Security, Data Science, or Management specialisation.

Undergraduate Fees at University of South Wales: 2026/27

Undergraduate international students pay £16,800 (INR 21.50 Lakhs) per year for Business, Management, and Humanities, and £17,200 (INR 22.01 Lakhs) for Engineering, Sciences, and Cyber Security. Most bachelor degrees run three years, though sandwich options with a placement year extend to four.

Most taught Masters programmes at USW cost £17,900 (INR 22.90 Lakhs) for the full one-year degree, with the MBA Global priced slightly higher at £18,970 (INR 24.27 Lakhs). USW does not require GMAT or GRE for Masters or MBA admission.

University of South Wales PhD and Research Fees

International PhD candidates pay £18,970 (INR 24.27 Lakhs) per year of registration, typically three to four years for a doctorate. The home-rate PhD is £5,238 (INR 6.70 Lakhs) per year, and successful applicants to advertised PhD studentships receive a stipend of £21,805 (INR 27.90 Lakhs) per year for living costs, tied to UKRI rates.

Note: The Masters fee shown is the total programme fee, not annual. A one-year MSc bills the entire £17,900 (INR 22.90 Lakhs) upfront via the 50 percent deposit plus 50 percent at registration, so do not double it in your budget the way you would for a two-year US Masters.

University of South Wales Fee Trend Year on Year

USW postgraduate international fees have risen approximately 5 percent per year since 2023/24, in line with wider UK sector inflation. The current 2026/27 rate of £17,900 (INR 22.90 Lakhs) sits well below the UK Russell Group Masters median of roughly £29,000 (INR 37.10 Lakhs).

Key Insight: Both the September 2026 and January 2027 intakes are locked at the 2026/27 rate of £17,900 (INR 22.90 Lakhs). Deferring from January 2027 to September 2027 shifts you to the 2027/28 rate and adds roughly £700 (INR 90,000) to your Masters. Confirm your January 2027 offer before you decide to defer, that single choice preserves the current rate.

Cost of Living at University of South Wales for Indian Students

South Wales is 30 to 40 percent cheaper than London and 15 to 20 percent cheaper than Cardiff city centre for accommodation.

Note: UKVI requires you to show £1,023 (INR 1.31 Lakhs) per month for nine months in your account when applying for the Student Visa, totalling £9,207 (INR 11.78 Lakhs). This is a proof-of-funds requirement, not actual spending. Real Pontypridd living costs average lower than the maintenance figure.

Cardiff-campus students pay a premium of 10 to 15 percent on rent because of proximity to the city centre. If you choose a Cardiff-based course, factor in an additional INR 1 to 1.5 Lakhs per year on accommodation. The USW shuttle between Cardiff and Pontypridd is free, letting you live in the cheaper Treforest area while attending Cardiff-campus lectures.

Currency Tip: Your deposit for the January 2027 intake is due six to eight weeks before your intake starts, on the date printed on your offer letter. Set up a forex card (BookMyForex, HDFC Multicurrency, Niyo Global) now and lock a favourable rate before the offer-letter deadline. Wire transfers add 2 to 3 percent in bank fees versus a forex card.

A one-year Masters costs INR 41.15 Lakhs, and the MBA Global comes to INR 42.52 Lakhs. Financing a INR 40 Lakh education loan works out to a monthly EMI of approximately INR 54,000 over a 10-year term at 10.5 percent interest. A INR 25 Lakh loan drops that to approximately INR 33,500 per month. Both are recoverable on a Graduate Route salary of £26,000 to £32,000 (INR 33.27 to 40.94 Lakhs) that USW MSc Cyber Security or Data Science graduates typically secure in the UK.

Key Insight: The single controllable saving lever is the £2,500 (INR 3.20 Lakhs) International Office Scholarship, which is auto-applied to self-funded offer holders. Accept your January 2027 or September 2027 offer as a self-funded student to trigger it, and your Year 1 MSc cost drops from INR 41.15 Lakhs to INR 37.95 Lakhs. Lock this before you pay the deposit instalment, no separate application form is required.

Hidden Costs of Studying at University of South Wales

Beyond tuition and standard living costs, first-year Indian students at USW should budget INR 3 to 5 Lakhs for one-time and easy-to-miss expenses. The single largest hidden line is the Immigration Health Surcharge, paid upfront for the full duration of your visa.

  • Immigration Health Surcharge: £776 per year of visa (INR 99,289), paid in full upfront with the Student Visa application. A one-year Masters typically pays £1,035 (INR 1.32 Lakhs) covering the 16-month visa; a three-year UG pays £2,587 (INR 3.31 Lakhs).
  • Student Visa fee: £490 (INR 62,696) applied outside the UK, non-refundable, separate from the IHS.
  • Priority visa service: Optional add-on of £500 (INR 63,975) to speed up processing to five working days; useful if you are within four weeks of your intake start date.
  • Winter clothing: £150 to £250 (INR 19,193 to 31,988) for a waterproof coat, boots, gloves, and thermal layers; South Wales averages 4 to 8 degrees Celsius in winter with frequent rain.
  • Bedding, kitchenware, and setup: £200 to £400 (INR 25,590 to 51,180) at Argos or IKEA on arrival for essentials the halls do not provide.
  • IELTS retake: £215 (INR 27,509) per attempt if your first score misses USW’s 6.0 overall or 5.5 in each band requirement.
  • Bank transfer fees: 1 to 3 percent on remittances from India via SBI or ICICI, can add INR 30,000 to 90,000 across the full programme; forex cards reduce this significantly.
  • Return flights to India: £450 to £700 (INR 57,578 to 89,565) return between Cardiff, Bristol, or London Heathrow, budget one return trip per year.

Budget approximately INR 3 to 5 Lakhs for first-year hidden costs on top of the tuition and living costs shown in the total-cost table.

Note: The one hidden cost most Indian families overlook is the IHS. For a one-year Masters, budget £1,035 (INR 1.32 Lakhs) paid upfront alongside your visa application, before you have even boarded a flight. This is separate from the £490 (INR 62,696) visa fee and cannot be paid in instalments.

University of South Wales Fee Saving Strategies for Indian Students

For January 2027 and September 2027 intakes, the highest-value saving lever is the auto-applied International Office Scholarship of £2,500 (INR 3.20 Lakhs), followed by choosing USW-managed halls in Treforest over private Cardiff lets. Together these steps trim Year 1 cost by INR 4 to 5 Lakhs without any competitive application.

  • Accept as self-funded to trigger the auto-scholarship: The International Office Scholarship of £1,500 to £2,500 (INR 1.92 to 3.20 Lakhs) is auto-applied at offer stage for self-funded students, no separate form needed. Do not indicate a sponsor unless you actually have one.
  • Choose USW-managed halls in Treforest: Treforest halls run £480 to £600 (INR 61,416 to 76,770) per month versus £700 to £850 (INR 89,565 to 1.09 Lakhs) for Cardiff city-centre private rooms. Saves INR 2 to 3 Lakhs across a one-year Masters.
  • Work 20 hours per week during term: Student Visa holders can work up to 20 hours per week during term at the UK minimum wage of £12.21 per hour, earning approximately £9,000 to £11,000 (INR 11.52 to 14.08 Lakhs) per year across term and vacation, enough to cover most living costs.
  • Section 80E tax deduction: Indian education loans taken for USW qualify for full deduction of interest paid under Section 80E of the Income Tax Act, available for eight years after repayment starts. On a INR 40 Lakh loan, this saves INR 1.5 to 2 Lakhs per year in taxes.
  • Pick the lower fee band at UG: Business, Management, HRM, and Humanities cost £16,800 (INR 21.50 Lakhs) at UG level versus £17,200 (INR 22.01 Lakhs) for Engineering, Sciences, and Cyber. Over three years that gap is INR 1.53 Lakhs.
  • Graduate Route Visa: Two years of unrestricted post-study work rights after your Masters, letting you recover tuition on a UK starting salary. USW cyber and data science graduates commonly reach £28,000 to £35,000 (INR 35.83 to 44.78 Lakhs) in Cardiff or Bristol, enabling loan payback within four to five years.

Tip for Indian Students: For January 2027 and September 2027 aspirants, the highest-value combined action is stacking the auto-applied International Office Scholarship (INR 3.20 Lakhs) with a successful GREAT Scholarship India application (INR 12.80 Lakhs). Together they knock INR 16 Lakhs off a INR 22.90 Lakhs Masters tuition, leaving only INR 6.90 Lakhs in course fees to self-fund. Submit the GREAT nomination request via the USW international team by the end of January 2027 for the March 2027 window.

Budget INR 41.15 Lakhs total for a one-year taught Masters at USW and INR 1.07 to 1.08 Crore for a three-year undergraduate degree, both inclusive of tuition, living, visa, and IHS. Auto-applied international scholarships bring the MSc down to INR 37.95 Lakhs, and a successful GREAT Scholarship India award (INR 12.80 Lakhs) reduces it further to roughly INR 25.15 Lakhs. A INR 40 Lakh education loan carries approximately INR 54,000 monthly EMI over 10 years, easily recoverable on a Graduate Route salary of INR 33 to 41 Lakhs typical for USW cyber, data science, and MBA Global graduates in the UK. For January 2027 entry, pay your 50 percent deposit (INR 11.45 Lakhs for a standard Masters) on the date printed in your offer letter, that single step locks the CAS and secures your seat.

There is not so much competition in my course because there are only 9 students but there are competitions when courses go on offline. Now due to covid there is less pressure.

Some people visited at Sea Shell for their introduction about the university and from their I got to know about this and then I searched on internet and I found this university to be relevant for me.

The course is very updated and can be related with current global problems. We find a huge difference in Indian education and in the education of UK. It is very high level and the curriculum provides assignment which are almost real life based. It gives us practical knowledge about the global market as a whole.

Fees

Tution fee for one year was 5000 UK pounds.

The course syllabus is up to date and relevant to my course they cover every aspect of the course. I still haven't had an opportunity to gain industrial exposure but it is included in the course a little later.

Fees

8300 per annum.
