University of Portsmouth fees for Indian students vary by course and payment route, with amounts in Indian rupee (INR). Postgraduate (PG) tuition is £17,900 (INR 23.30 Lakhs) to £19,200 (INR 24.99 Lakhs) for 2026/27. Undergraduate (UG) tuition ranges from £17,900 (INR 23.30 Lakhs) to £19,200 (INR 24.99 Lakhs) annually. The popular Master of Science (MSc) Data Analytics costs £19,200 (INR 24.99 Lakhs) for 2026/27.
Portsmouth estimates living expenses at £1,023 (INR 1.33 Lakhs) monthly, excluding tuition. University halls place housing near the city-centre campus. Private accommodation may require one month’s advance payment, but no official private-rent range is published.
The MSc Data Analytics January 2027 route totals £31,476 (INR 40.97 Lakhs). This covers tuition and twelve months of living costs. Adding one-year visa and health charges produces £32,810 (INR 42.71 Lakhs) before scholarships. The comparable total is £30,310 (INR 39.45 Lakhs) after the Vice Chancellor’s award.
Exchange rate used: 1 GBP (pound sterling) = INR 130.16, from open.er-api.com, dated 26 August 2026.

Portsmouth’s fee structure is course-specific. For 2026/27, international tuition is £17,900 (INR 23.30 Lakhs) to £19,200 (INR 24.99 Lakhs). January postgraduate durations extend beyond one year on several courses. The intake therefore changes study time, even when the published fee stays course-specific.
Ten postgraduate routes show the main Portsmouth fee bands, durations, and January availability for budget shortlisting. The Master of Business Administration (MBA) Global route adds a one-year business option.
Portsmouth publishes a full-time international course fee rather than a separate January multiplier. The indicative tuition column therefore uses the published one-year figure where the course page gives a one-year route. January routes with longer durations retain the published figure and are not multiplied without an official fee rule.

Note: A January course can last 14 to 18 months. Portsmouth does not publish a separate tuition multiplier for these routes. Use the course’s published fee and confirm duration-related billing in the offer.
Five undergraduate programmes use three-year full-time routes. Their 2026/27 tuition is £17,900 (INR 23.30 Lakhs) to £19,200 (INR 24.99 Lakhs). Bachelor of Science (BSc), Bachelor of Engineering (BEng), and Bachelor of Arts (BA) identify the award types.
Portsmouth lists 2027/28 undergraduate fees as to be confirmed. The indicative totals below multiply the 2026/27 annual fee by three years at unchanged current rates.
| Programme | Duration | Published tuition (Local currency and INR) | Indicative full-course tuition (Local currency and INR) |

Indicative full-course tuition uses the 2026/27 annual rate for three years at unchanged current rates. It is not a forecast of 2027/28 fees.
Note: The 2027/28 undergraduate fee is not published. Treat £53,700 (INR 69.90 Lakhs) to £57,600 (INR 74.97 Lakhs) as a current-rate comparison. It excludes living costs, mandatory charges, travel, and deposits.
£19,200 (INR 24.99 Lakhs) is the published 2026/27 international fee for BSc Computing. Portsmouth does not publish a complete historical undergraduate fee series. The 2027/28 rate remains to be confirmed.
The year-over-year (YoY) change cannot be calculated without two published annual figures. The latest published rate supports January 2027 postgraduate budgeting and September 2027 undergraduate comparison.
Use the published fee-year until the next official year is released, then rerun totals.

Key Insight: January 2027 uses the 2026/27 fee year. September 2027 undergraduate fees remain unpublished. Reserve against £19,200 (INR 24.99 Lakhs) only for courses showing that rate. Update the budget when Portsmouth releases 2027/28 figures.
£1,023 (INR 1.33 Lakhs) per month is Portsmouth’s published living-cost benchmark. It excludes tuition. The estimate includes accommodation, food, clothing, course materials, travel, and leisure.
| Expense | Monthly (Local) | Monthly (INR) | Annual (INR) | Notes for Indian Students |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Portsmouth living expenses | £1,023 (INR 1.33 Lakhs) | INR 1.33 Lakhs | INR 15.98 Lakhs | University benchmark for twelve months; excludes tuition |

£115 (INR 14,968) per week is the lowest listed 2026/27 hall rate among the selected university residences.
These hall figures show housing commitments only. Food, travel, course materials, clothing, and leisure remain inside the separate £1,023 (INR 1.33 Lakhs) monthly benchmark.
| Accommodation choice | Weekly rent (Local currency and INR) | Published session amount (Local currency and INR) | Practical scope |
|---|---|---|---|
| Trust Hall, self-catered shared bathroom | £115 (INR 14,968) | £4,600 (INR 5.99 Lakhs) | University hall; food is separate |
| Bateson, standard room | £125 (INR 16,270) | £5,000 (INR 6.51 Lakhs) | University hall; room type affects commitment |
| Bateson, large room | £141 (INR 18,353) | £5,640 (INR 7.34 Lakhs) | University hall; larger room category |

| Catherine House, room range | £177 (INR 23,038) to £187 (INR 24,340) | £7,080 (INR 9.22 Lakhs) to £7,480 (INR 9.74 Lakhs) | University hall; en-suite room range |
Source: University of Portsmouth halls of residence page.
Note: The £4,600 (INR 5.99 Lakhs) Trust Hall figure is a session commitment. It is not the complete annual living budget. Do not add it to the INR 15.98 Lakhs benchmark without removing accommodation.
January 2027 applicants should reserve housing evidence before visa funds are finalised. The university’s private-housing advance-payment warning makes the first cash requirement higher than monthly rent alone.
Currency Tip: January 2027 payment schedules place the second 50% tuition instalment in June 2027. September 2027 schedules place the equivalent instalment in February 2028. Keep the later instalment in a separate forex reserve.
£32,810 (INR 42.71 Lakhs) is the first-year budget for MSc Data Analytics. It uses twelve months of Portsmouth living costs and a one-year visa-charge comparison.
The worked example is the MSc Data Analytics January 2027 route. Portsmouth publishes one living benchmark, so a fabricated low, midpoint, and high range is not shown.
Mandatory fees include the £558 (INR 72,629) Student Visa fee. They also include one year of the £776 (INR 1.01 Lakhs) student Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS). A one-year master’s visa normally receives 17 months of permission. The full IHS calculation is £1,164 (INR 1.52 Lakhs), paid upfront.
| Scenario | Tuition | Living | Mandatory Fees | Total Year 1 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Portsmouth published benchmark | £19,200 (INR 24.99 Lakhs) | £12,276 (INR 15.98 Lakhs), 12 months | £1,334 (INR 1.74 Lakhs), one-year comparison | £32,810 (INR 42.71 Lakhs) |
| After Vice Chancellor’s scholarship | £16,700 (INR 21.74 Lakhs) | £12,276 (INR 15.98 Lakhs), 12 months | £1,334 (INR 1.74 Lakhs), one-year comparison | £30,310 (INR 39.45 Lakhs) |

The three-year BSc Computing tuition-only comparison is £57,600 (INR 74.97 Lakhs). That equals about INR 0.75 Crore. This excludes living costs, visa charges, the IHS, travel, and deposits.
A 40 Lakh loan has an equated monthly instalment (EMI) of INR 54,000 at 10.5% over ten years.
Key Insight: The Vice Chancellor’s scholarship reduces the January 2027 calculation by £2,500 (INR 3.25 Lakhs). Confirm eligibility before registration, then preserve the saving before the next instalment.
INR 3.25 Lakhs is the current Vice Chancellor’s Global Development Scholarship reduction for eligible Indian applicants.
Portsmouth’s university awards are fee reductions for self-funded international students. They cannot be combined, so the larger award is not automatically available to every applicant.
| Scholarship | Award or support | Eligibility | Status and deadline | Intake |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Vice Chancellor’s Global Development Scholarship | £2,500 (INR 3.25 Lakhs) first-year fee reduction | India listed; self-funded, full-time, overseas, on-campus applicants | Available; eligibility assessed automatically; no dated closing deadline published | January 2027 |
| Chancellor’s Global Academic Merit Scholarship | £5,000 (INR 6.51 Lakhs) first-year fee reduction | Self-funded, full-time, overseas, on-campus applicants | Applications open 7 September 2026; closing deadline pending; separate application process | January 2027 |

No currently open external Indian scholarship window was confirmed for Portsmouth’s January 2027 intake.
| External funding status | Award or support | Eligibility | Status and deadline | Intake |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Named external Indian awards checked | No open Portsmouth funding award confirmed | Provider-specific Indian eligibility remains separate from university awards | 2026 application windows closed; next deadlines pending | January 2027 funding plan |

Tip for Indian Students: Let Portsmouth assess the £2,500 (INR 3.25 Lakhs) Vice Chancellor’s award automatically. Prepare the separate Chancellor’s application when it opens on 7 September 2026, but do not budget both awards together.
£1,000 (INR 1.30 Lakhs) is Portsmouth’s published standard international tuition deposit, and it reduces the tuition balance.
The deposit is generally non-refundable, except where Portsmouth’s visa-refusal refund condition applies. Pay after receiving the offer and before the advisory 27 November 2026 visa-ready target.
The Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) is the document needed for the Student Visa. Portsmouth issues the CAS after academic and financial conditions are met, the deposit clears, and the CAS window opens.
Portsmouth gives January students three payment structures, with the deposit credited against tuition.
Source: University of Portsmouth tuition-fee and make-a-payment pages.
Note: The 27 November 2026 date is an advisory visa-ready target, not Portsmouth’s fixed course deadline. Allow bank-transfer lead time before paying the deposit, because CAS processing follows cleared funds and completed conditions.
January 2027 applicants should reserve visa and health charges before the deposit, because the full IHS is paid upfront.
£2,722 (INR 3.54 Lakhs) covers the deposit, Student Visa fee, and calculated full IHS before accommodation.
The published Trust Hall session commitment is £4,600 (INR 5.99 Lakhs). If requested before arrival, the listed commitment becomes £7,322 (INR 9.53 Lakhs).
Portsmouth does not publish a separate first hall instalment. The Trust Hall session amount is the first verified accommodation commitment.
The deposit is counted once and reduces tuition. Tuition balance is excluded because the exact pre-arrival due date depends on the selected offer and schedule.
Budget approximately INR 3.54-9.53 Lakhs for initial hidden costs. Airfare and variable private-housing payments remain outside this range.
Note: Families often miss the full £1,164 (INR 1.52 Lakhs) student IHS calculation. It falls due with the visa application, not through monthly university payments.
The most urgent January 2027 saving is the £2,500 (INR 3.25 Lakhs) Vice Chancellor’s award. It reduces first-year tuition directly.
Tip for Indian Students: The Vice Chancellor’s award is the highest clearly available January 2027 lever for eligible applicants. Its £2,500 (INR 3.25 Lakhs) reduction should be reflected before the next tuition instalment.
The MSc Data Analytics comparison is £30,310 (INR 39.45 Lakhs) after the Vice Chancellor’s award. Prepared loan and living reserves remain necessary.
Portsmouth reports 9 out of 10 students in work or further study. The Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) Graduate Outcomes Survey covers 2021/22.
Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) places the University of Portsmouth at number 662 in the 2027 world ranking. This is a broad institutional signal, not a course-specific salary guarantee.
Applicants completing a January 2027 master’s should generally face the current 18-month Graduate Route rule. This follows an application submitted after 1 January 2027. The EMI is about INR 54,000 monthly for a 40 Lakh loan at 10.5% over ten years.
No official Portsmouth median graduate salary was found, so a payback period is not stated. The financial case depends on the scholarship, the chosen fee band, and the applicant’s post-study salary.
Key Insight: The £2,500 (INR 3.25 Lakhs) January 2027 scholarship reduction is the clearest decision-changing number. It lowers the stated first-year comparison before any loan interest or salary assumptions.
Source: University of Portsmouth careers page and official QS ranking data.
For January 2027, the MSc Data Analytics first-year budget is £32,810 (INR 42.71 Lakhs). This is before the Vice Chancellor’s reduction. The scholarship lowers it by £2,500 (INR 3.25 Lakhs), subject to eligibility. A 40 Lakh loan is about INR 54,000 monthly at 10.5% over ten years. Reserve the £1,000 (INR 1.30 Lakhs) deposit and visa cash before choosing January 2027. Compare September 2027 after Portsmouth releases its fee.

The course is crafted as it's for PhD students. My course is accredited by CIPD so you can imagine the value of the program. Faculties support students in research projects. They provide each student with their personal tutors, especially for research projects/dissertations who help them to understand the research topic properly. They keep on checking research progress, provide optimum guidance on do's and don'ts, and help in completing research projects on time.
8700 for my pre-masters and 16900 for my masters

My course wasn't very research-oriented (apart from the assignments to be put together) but it's not like there is no future prospectus for that. I did a Junior Research Associate Apprenticeship at Halmstad University, all thanks to my university. Also, there are specific courses such as MRes that focus only on the research aspect.
It was originally £19k but after scholarship, I had to pay £15,600 only.

Well, my course curriculum is quite in line with the current market requirements in the field of corporate compliance which is a hot market at this point in time.

The course syllabus is very updated as the university has its independent research centres that feed into what is taught to the students. The same content is taught to professionals in law enforcement and criminal justice system around the world by some of the faculty members. All postgrad students have to lead and conduct their own research for their final thesis for which we are given a total of 8 months including time to prepare the research proposal.
I studied between 2021-2022 when the course fee was £15500 but it has definitely gone up now with the inflation in the country.
It’s been 2 months that I have been here and everything is going good as of now. My academics are going smooth and syllabus is being covered on time. I am happy for choosing this course as it is really interesting and is also related to my previous course. The faculty are helping me understand all the details. They also helped me reach the current standard of the student as I am a bit late to college due to pandamic.
One of my friend suggested me this college. He stated that the faculty was amazing and also all the facilities the we required are well and good. The also the main reason is that this particular university has the course that I want to persue which is Max engineering management Head the u had awesome teachers for this course and also I chose that university as i like that place
