University of Sheffield fees for the 2026/27 fee year sit at £25,000 to £32,100 (INR 32.27 Lakhs to INR 41.43 Lakhs) per year for overseas undergraduates and £30,625 to £35,840 (INR 39.53 Lakhs to INR 46.26 Lakhs) for taught postgraduates. The MSc Advanced Computer Science is £32,905 (INR 42.47 Lakhs), the MBA is £32,350 (INR 41.75 Lakhs) and MSc Business Management sits around £30,625 (INR 39.53 Lakhs), which covers the three courses Indian applicants pick most often.

Your realistic entry from India is the September 2027 intake, since the September 2026 term has effectively closed for fresh applications given the 3 to 8 week UK Student Visa processing window. A limited February 2027 window remains open for selected Management School and postgraduate courses. Sheffield does not run a January intake for direct postgraduate entry, so anyone planning around January should redirect to February 2027 or September 2027.

  • Overseas Undergraduate Tuition: £25,000 to £32,100 per year (INR 32.27 Lakhs to INR 41.43 Lakhs)
  • Postgraduate Taught (typical band): £30,625 to £35,840 per year (INR 39.53 Lakhs to INR 46.26 Lakhs)
  • MSc Advanced Computer Science: £32,905 (INR 42.47 Lakhs)
  • MBA (1 year): £32,350 (INR 41.75 Lakhs)
  • Automatic Overseas Postgraduate Tuition Discount: £3,000 (INR 3.87 Lakhs)
  • Automatic International Undergraduate Scholarship: £2,500 per year (INR 3.23 Lakhs)
  • GREAT Scholarship for Indian students: £12,500 (INR 16.13 Lakhs)

External Indian scholarships for the September 2027 intake open through late 2026 and close through early to mid 2027. Inlaks, JN Tata Endowment, KC Mahindra, Narotam Sekhsaria and Aga Khan awards all fall inside this cycle. The GREAT Scholarship for Indians opens each spring and closes in early summer for the following September intake.

Sheffield asks self-financed postgraduates for a £2,000 (INR 2.58 Lakhs) tuition deposit at offer acceptance, which triggers the Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS, the document needed for the Student Visa) and counts toward the first tuition instalment. The dentistry deposit is £5,000 (INR 6.45 Lakhs). Tuition then splits across two instalments, typically 50% at registration and 50% mid-year for postgraduates. Allow 3 to 4 weeks for an Indian bank wire to clear at Sheffield’s Finance Office, so the deposit should leave your account at least a month before the CAS deadline on your offer letter.

A 1-year Masters at Sheffield lands most Indian families near INR 60 Lakhs all-in, tuition plus 12 months of living plus mandatory Home Office charges. A 3-year overseas undergraduate degree comes in around INR 1.60 Crore to INR 1.75 Crore. Both figures assume the automatic tuition discount is claimed and Sheffield accommodation is booked at mid-band rents.

Exchange rate used throughout this page: 1 GBP = INR 129.06, per xe.com on 21 July 2026.

September 2027 Intake: Planning Window Open

Intake: September 2027 is the main open intake for new applicants from India. February 2027 is a smaller window for selected Management School and postgraduate courses only. September 2026 is effectively closed for fresh applications because the UK Student Visa takes 3 to 8 weeks and CAS issuance sits on top of that.

Fee update: Anyone starting in September 2026 is billed at the 2026/27 rate. Anyone starting in September 2027 will be billed at the 2027/28 rate, which historically runs 5 to 7 per cent higher, an average of around INR 2 Lakhs extra per year on postgraduate courses. Sheffield’s fixed-fee guarantee then locks that Year 1 rate for the rest of your course.

When to pay: £2,000 (INR 2.58 Lakhs) deposit inside 4 weeks of accepting your offer. Tuition then splits into two instalments, 50% at registration and 50% mid-year. Wire transfers from India need 3 to 4 weeks to clear at Sheffield Finance, so the deposit should leave your bank at least a month before the CAS deadline.

Scholarships: The 2026 cycle for Sheffield’s competitive awards has closed. The 2027 cycle opens through late 2026 and closes through late spring 2027. External Indian awards (Inlaks, JN Tata, KC Mahindra, Aga Khan, Narotam Sekhsaria) all open for the September 2027 intake between October 2026 and April 2027.

University of Sheffield Tuition Fees by Programme for Indian Students

Sheffield sets overseas tuition fees by academic band. Arts, humanities and social sciences sit in the lowest band, biological and life sciences in the middle band, and engineering, computer science and clinical sciences in the top band. Medicine and Dentistry are billed on a separate clinical schedule that starts well above the standard cap.

Undergraduate Fees: September 2027 Entry

Overseas undergraduate fees for the 2026/27 fee year run from £25,000 to £32,100 (INR 32.27 Lakhs to INR 41.43 Lakhs). Sheffield’s fixed-fee guarantee holds your Year 1 rate for the full three or four years of your degree. September 2027 entrants will be billed at the 2027/28 rate, which the University typically confirms in November of the prior year.

Postgraduate Fees: September 2027 Entry

Postgraduate taught fees for the 2026/27 fee year sit between £30,625 and £35,840 (INR 39.53 Lakhs to INR 46.26 Lakhs) for most standard courses. The MBA and clinical Masters sit at the top of the range. Every overseas self-funded student receives a £3,000 (INR 3.87 Lakhs) automatic tuition discount for September 2026 entry, and Sheffield has confirmed this discount as a recurring feature under review each cycle.

Note: Sheffield’s headline tuition fee is annual, not for the full course. For the 1-year Masters degrees, the annual fee is your total tuition. For a 3-year undergraduate degree in Band C, multiply by three, which puts total tuition alone at £96,300 (INR 1.24 Crore) even before living costs.

University of Sheffield Fee Trend by Year for Indian Students

Sheffield’s overseas tuition has climbed at a compound rate close to 6 per cent per year across the past three cycles. Because the fixed-fee guarantee locks your Year 1 rate, your total cost is set the moment you accept the offer, so the intake you enter matters more than any later cycle.

Fee YearMSc Advanced Computer Science (GBP)MSc Advanced Computer Science (INR)YoY Change
2024/25£29,290INR 37.80 LakhsBaseline
2025/26£31,190INR 40.25 Lakhs+6.5%
2026/27£32,905INR 42.47 Lakhs+5.5%
2027/28 (projected)£34,700 approxINR 44.78 Lakhs approx+5.5% projected

Source: University of Sheffield postgraduate fee bulletins 2024-2026, Registry Services. The 2027/28 projection is a one-year forward estimate based on the average increase across the two verified prior cycles.

Key Insight: The September 2027 intake will be billed at the 2027/28 rate, roughly INR 2 to INR 2.5 Lakhs higher per year than the September 2026 rate. On a 4-year MEng that is around INR 8 to 10 Lakhs extra total. Deferring one full cycle from a September 2026 offer to September 2027 costs you that gap once, and Sheffield’s fixed-fee guarantee then holds it for the rest of your course.

Because the fixed-fee guarantee holds Year 1 rates flat, the trend line here is what future entrants will pay, not what current students will pay. If you already hold an offer for September 2026 and can complete the visa in time, that £32,905 rate stays with you across your course. If your realistic entry is September 2027, plan against the projected 2027/28 rate, not the 2026/27 figure.

University of Sheffield Cost of Living in Sheffield for Indian Students

Sheffield sits around 10 per cent below the UK national average for living costs and around 25 per cent below London. A single postgraduate student on a modest lifestyle spends £1,050 to £1,150 (INR 1.35 Lakhs to INR 1.48 Lakhs) per month, which is well below the UK Home Office’s mandatory maintenance requirement of £1,483 (INR 1.91 Lakhs) per month that you must show for the Student Visa.

Source: Amberstudent, UniAcco and University of Sheffield Accommodation Office 2026 rate cards. UK Home Office maintenance requirement for locations outside London is £1,483 per month across up to 9 months, per gov.uk Student Visa guidance.

Note: Your Student Visa application requires you to show £13,347 (INR 17.22 Lakhs) in living cost funds for a Sheffield programme, even though actual spend is lower. This is the 9-month maintenance figure at £1,483 per month, held in a personal bank account for 28 consecutive days. Living below this figure is normal; you must still show it.

Sheffield’s official university accommodation runs from around £120 per week for a standard single room to £200 per week for an en-suite studio in developments like Endcliffe, Ranmoor and City. Off-campus private rooms in Ecclesall Road and Broomhill are the mid-band choice most Indian postgraduates pick, typically £550 to £650 per month all-in. Private studios in the city centre are the ceiling at £900 to £1,000 (INR 1.16 Lakhs to INR 1.29 Lakhs) per month.

Currency Tip: Lock a chunk of your first-year budget when the offer letter lands, not later. From offer acceptance to arrival, GBP INR can move 3 to 5 per cent, which is INR 1.5 to INR 2 Lakhs on a Sheffield postgraduate budget. A forex card or Wise account saves you a further 2 to 3 per cent versus a plain wire transfer on the deposit and first instalment.

University of Sheffield Total Cost of Study for Indian Students

Total Year 1 cost, once you fold tuition, living, visa and Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS, paid upfront with the Student Visa application) together, lands close to INR 60 Lakhs for a taught Masters and near INR 55 Lakhs for a Band A undergraduate degree in Sheffield. The full-programme number is what your loan should track.

Mandatory fees are UK Student Visa £592 (INR 76,404) plus IHS £776 (INR 1.00 Lakhs) per year of course, paid upfront with the visa application. IHS for a 3-year UG is £2,328 (INR 3.00 Lakhs) all at once. Tuition here is quoted before the £3,000 automatic overseas postgraduate discount.

For a 3-year Band C undergraduate degree, full-programme total sits at approximately £109,600 (INR 1.41 Crore) once you add three years of tuition, three years of Sheffield living and Year 1 mandatory fees. A 1-year MSc lands at approximately INR 60 Lakhs all-in. An education loan of INR 60 Lakhs at 10.5 per cent over 10 years works out to roughly INR 81,000 per month EMI, and INR 1.41 Crore works out to roughly INR 1.90 Lakhs per month EMI under the same terms.

Key Insight: Claim the £3,000 automatic postgraduate tuition discount before your first instalment and your MSc Advanced Computer Science total drops from INR 60.97 Lakhs to approximately INR 57.10 Lakhs. That is a straight INR 3.87 Lakhs saving with no application to submit, and it reduces your EMI by roughly INR 5,200 per month across a 10-year loan. Confirm eligibility with Sheffield’s Student Fees team the same week you accept your offer, before the deposit deadline.

Sheffield offers two categories of overseas funding: automatic tuition discounts that are applied to your fee statement with no form to submit, and competitive awards that require a separate application. Indian students are eligible for both categories. Every awarded amount below reduces tuition liability directly and does not require a separate cash disbursement.

External Scholarships for Indian Students Heading to Sheffield

Tip for Indian Students: Stack the automatic £3,000 (INR 3.87 Lakhs) Sheffield postgraduate discount with one external Indian award, not two university awards. Sheffield’s terms say the automatic discount cannot be combined with a second university scholarship, but the automatic discount does combine with external India-side scholarships such as JN Tata or KC Mahindra. Submit the JN Tata application inside its March window and confirm the Sheffield discount is applied to your fee statement at registration.

University of Sheffield Hidden Costs for Indian Students

The line items below are not billed by Sheffield’s Finance Office but come out of your budget anyway. They land inside the visa and pre-arrival window and are easy to under-budget by INR 3 to 5 Lakhs.

  • Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS): £776 (INR 1.00 Lakhs) per year of course, paid in a single upfront payment with the Student Visa application. A 1-year Masters pays £776; a 3-year UG pays £2,328 (INR 3.00 Lakhs) upfront; a 4-year MEng pays £3,104 (INR 4.00 Lakhs).
  • UK Student Visa application fee: £592 (INR 76,404), paid to the Home Office at the point of application.
  • Priority visa processing (optional): £500 (INR 64,530) if you need the decision inside 5 working days rather than the standard 15 working days. Useful only if your visa application slips inside the last 6 weeks before term start.
  • TB test for Indian applicants: INR 3,500 to INR 4,500 at IOM-approved centres, mandatory for the UK Student Visa.
  • Setup costs on arrival: £600 to £900 (INR 77,436 to INR 1.16 Lakhs), covering bedding, kitchenware, winter clothing, UK SIM and the first grocery run.
  • IELTS registration and possible retake: INR 17,000 per sitting, with a full retake often costing INR 30,000+ in prep and re-registration if you miss Sheffield’s 6.5 overall / 6.0 in each band.
  • Overseas bank transfer fees: INR 3,000 to INR 5,000 per wire, plus a 2 to 3 per cent forex spread that a forex card or Wise transfer avoids.

Budget approximately INR 5 to INR 6 Lakhs for first-year hidden costs on top of tuition and living, and hold the full amount in liquid savings before you accept the offer.

Note: The single hidden cost families most often forget is the IHS, since it must be paid upfront for the full course length at the point of Student Visa application. For a 4-year MEng Aerospace, that is £3,104 (INR 4.00 Lakhs) in one payment to the Home Office, on top of the £592 visa fee, before Sheffield’s Finance Office has issued a single invoice. Ring-fence this amount in a separate savings pocket the moment you receive your CAS.

University of Sheffield Fee Saving Strategies for Indian Students

For the September 2027 intake, the highest-value action right now is claiming the automatic overseas discount and stacking it with one external Indian scholarship inside the March 2027 window. Everything else compounds slower.

  • Claim the automatic overseas discount at offer acceptance, worth £3,000 (INR 3.87 Lakhs) for postgraduate students or £2,500 (INR 3.23 Lakhs) per year for undergraduates. Sheffield applies it to the fee statement without a form, but only if you are classified as overseas and self-funded on your record. Confirm with the Student Fees team the week you accept.
  • Live in University-owned accommodation in Year 1, then move to a shared house in Broomhill or Ecclesall Road from Year 2. The Year 2 move typically saves £150 to £250 (INR 19,359 to INR 32,265) per month, or roughly INR 2.3 Lakhs across a 9-month tenancy.
  • Work up to 20 hours per week during term time and full-time in vacations on your UK Student Visa. Sheffield’s minimum-wage jobs pay around £11.44 (INR 1,476) per hour, which typically nets a Masters student £5,000 to £7,000 (INR 6.45 Lakhs to INR 9.03 Lakhs) across the year against living costs.
  • Claim Section 80E tax deduction in India on the education loan interest, available for up to 8 years from your first EMI. On a INR 60 Lakhs loan, the deduction across the first 3 years can lower your family’s tax outflow by INR 4 to INR 6 Lakhs depending on the applicable slab.
  • Check the fee-band your course sits in before applying, since choosing MSc Business Management (Band A equivalent, £30,625) over MSc Advanced Computer Science (Band C equivalent, £32,905) saves £2,280 (INR 2.94 Lakhs) on Year 1 tuition alone.
  • Plan for the Graduate Route Visa, which currently provides 18 months of post-study work rights in the UK for taught Masters and undergraduate graduates completing courses that start on or after 1 January 2027. That window is enough to convert to a Skilled Worker Visa if you land a graduate role above the salary threshold.

Tip for Indian Students: The single highest-value saving lever for the September 2027 intake is landing the JN Tata Endowment or KC Mahindra scholarship inside the March 2027 window. A successful JN Tata application delivers up to INR 17.50 Lakhs of blended grant plus semi-grant, which combined with Sheffield’s automatic £3,000 (INR 3.87 Lakhs) discount reduces your effective Year 1 loan requirement by more than INR 21 Lakhs. Applications open in November 2026, so start assembling recommendation letters and study plan drafts by October 2026.

A taught Masters at Sheffield lands the average Indian family near INR 60 Lakhs all-in for Year 1, before scholarships. Claim the automatic £3,000 (INR 3.87 Lakhs) overseas postgraduate discount at offer acceptance, add one external Indian scholarship inside the March 2027 window, and your effective loan requirement can drop below INR 55 Lakhs, which is roughly INR 74,000 per month EMI over 10 years. Your realistic entry is the September 2027 intake, with a February 2027 window open for selected Management School courses; the September 2026 term is now beyond the visa lead-time for fresh applications from India. Lock the deposit, wire the tuition on a forex card rather than a plain bank wire, and hold the IHS payment ring-fenced in liquid savings the moment your CAS is issued.

University of Sheffield Fees FAQs for Indian Students

Ques. What are the University of Sheffield tuition fees for Indian students in 2026/27?

Ans. Overseas undergraduate tuition is £25,000 to £32,100 (INR 32.27 Lakhs to INR 41.43 Lakhs) per year across Bands A to C, with Medicine and Dentistry at £45,650 (INR 58.91 Lakhs) and £47,900 (INR 61.82 Lakhs) respectively. Postgraduate taught fees typically run £30,625 to £35,840 (INR 39.53 Lakhs to INR 46.26 Lakhs) per year. The MSc Advanced Computer Science is £32,905 (INR 42.47 Lakhs) and the MBA is £32,350 (INR 41.75 Lakhs).

Ques. Does University of Sheffield give scholarships to Indian students automatically?

Ans. Yes. Every eligible overseas postgraduate receives an automatic £3,000 (INR 3.87 Lakhs) tuition discount with no application form. Every eligible international undergraduate receives an automatic £2,500 (INR 3.23 Lakhs) per year scholarship, up to £10,000 (INR 12.91 Lakhs) across a 4-year degree. Both require you to be self-funded and classified as overseas.

Ques. When does the University of Sheffield 2027 scholarship cycle open for Indian students?

Ans. Sheffield’s automatic discounts renew each cycle and typically confirm in autumn 2026 for September 2027 entry. The Ferguson and Chancellor’s competitive awards open between November 2026 and February 2027. External Indian awards such as JN Tata, Inlaks, KC Mahindra, Narotam Sekhsaria and Aga Khan open on their own India-side cycles between October 2026 and March 2027.

Ques. What is the total cost of a 1-year Masters at University of Sheffield for Indian students?

Ans. Approximately INR 60 Lakhs all-in for Year 1 before scholarships. This covers £30,625 to £32,905 tuition (INR 39.53 Lakhs to INR 42.47 Lakhs), £12,960 (INR 16.73 Lakhs) in 12 months of Sheffield living, and £1,368 (INR 1.77 Lakhs) in mandatory UK Student Visa plus IHS charges. After the automatic £3,000 discount, effective total drops to approximately INR 57 Lakhs.

Ques. Does University of Sheffield have a January 2027 intake for Indian students?

Ans. No. Sheffield does not offer a January intake for direct postgraduate entry. A limited February 2027 window exists for selected Management School and postgraduate courses only. Indian students planning a mid-year start should target February 2027 for those specific courses; everyone else should target September 2027 as the main next intake.

Ques. Is the University of Sheffield deposit refundable if the visa is refused?

Ans. The £2,000 (INR 2.58 Lakhs) postgraduate deposit is refundable if your UK Student Visa is refused and you can produce the official refusal notice from UK Visas and Immigration, minus a small administrative fee. Refund requests must be submitted to Sheffield’s Student Fees team within 30 days of the refusal notice. The £5,000 (INR 6.45 Lakhs) Dentistry deposit follows the same terms.

Ques. Can Indian students pay University of Sheffield fees in instalments?

Ans. Yes. Self-funded postgraduate tuition splits into two instalments, typically 50% at registration and 50% mid-year. Sheffield’s Finance Office confirms the exact schedule on your fee statement after you complete pre-registration. The £2,000 deposit counts toward the first instalment, so registration invoices reduce accordingly.

Ques. How much money do I need to show for the UK Student Visa to study at Sheffield?

Ans. You need to show one year of tuition plus £13,347 (INR 17.22 Lakhs) in maintenance funds, which is £1,483 per month across 9 months for locations outside London. Sheffield sits outside London, so the outside-London rate applies. Funds must be held in a personal or parent bank account for 28 consecutive days before the visa application.

Ques. Do University of Sheffield fees include health insurance for Indian students?

Ans. No. NHS access is covered by the Immigration Health Surcharge, which is separate from tuition and paid upfront to the UK Home Office. IHS is £776 (INR 1.00 Lakhs) per year of course, so a 1-year Masters pays £776 and a 3-year UG pays £2,328 (INR 3.00 Lakhs) at the visa stage.

Ques. What is the Sheffield MBA fee for Indian students in 2026/27?

Ans. The full-time 1-year MBA is £32,350 (INR 41.75 Lakhs) for overseas fee-paying students. After the automatic £3,000 (INR 3.87 Lakhs) overseas postgraduate tuition discount, the effective fee lands at £29,350 (INR 37.88 Lakhs). Total programme cost including living and visa charges lands close to INR 60 Lakhs.

Ques. Will University of Sheffield tuition fees increase for the September 2027 intake?

Ans. Yes. September 2027 entrants will be billed at the 2027/28 fee rate, which historically runs 5 to 7 per cent higher than 2026/27. On a typical MSc, that is roughly INR 2 to INR 2.5 Lakhs extra per year. Sheffield’s fixed-fee guarantee then locks that Year 1 rate for the rest of your course, so the extra is a one-time step, not a compounding increase.

Ques. Does the UK Graduate Route Visa still apply after a Sheffield Masters?

Ans. Yes. The Graduate Route currently provides 18 months of post-study work rights for taught Masters and undergraduate graduates completing courses that start on or after 1 January 2027, and 3 years for PhD graduates. A September 2027 Sheffield Masters graduate is therefore eligible to apply for 18 months of Graduate Route work rights after completion, with a £937 (INR 1.21 Lakhs) application fee to the Home Office.

  • I found accommodation online through google search, and the monthly rent is approx 370 pounds. I didn't face any issues while securing the accommodation; it was really easy to book that and get the agreement.
  • I have one Recommendation for future students: if you are coming to the University of Sheffield, then try to book near that University; otherwise, you have to walk too much. Also, try to book IQ Fenton, Westhill Hall, or aspect3, Central Place, etc. These accommodations are really close to the university, and you have to walk only 5 to 10 minutes.
  • My accommodation is just 5 minutes' walk from the university. Most Indian students stay in IQ Fenton, Westhill Hall, or Aspect3, Student Roost, the central place.

  • There are different accommodation facilities near the University. Per week rate for a studio apartment goes from 100 to 230 pounds a week. For an on suit it ranges from 90 - 180 pounds a week.

  • I used to live in a private university accommodation. It used to be a little better than uni ones and still had the whole community feel.
  • My monthly rent was around £700, which included all the facilities in the accommodation and AC, a Smart TV in my room.
  • There were no challenges. I looked up on the internet, and this accommodation was very well ranked.
  • Prestige Student Living Steel City, Hollis Croft, Cosmos. These were the best accommodations there. My accommodation was a 5-7-minute walk from the campus.
  • A lot of indians used to stay in Sheffield-3, Fenton House, because of the affordable pricing.

  • I stayed in university accommodation. I applied through the university website. They are most trustworthy; that's why I chose them. I
  • I paid £6,800 for the year. I shared a flat with 6 other students. We had our own rooms & shared a kitchen & bathroom.
  • It's easy to get university accommodation.
  • Staying in university accommodation was the best decision. I wanted to have a global experience & that's what I got. In my flat, there were 2 Indians, including me, 2 British, 1 German, and 1 Dutch. We were 4 boys & 3 girls. We got along very well & I had no issues.
  • Private accommodations are cheaper, and Indian students prefer to stay within Indian groups. My advice would be to go and mix with people from other countries. What is the point of going abroad to study if you don't mix with other people?
  • That's why I would recommend staying at university accommodation.
  • My accommodation was just a 2-minute walk from the Diamond, where we had most of our classes. I made many friends in Mappin Court, including Indians. I had an amazing time there. My fellow Indian friends were very happy too.

  • I found the accommodation via Amber App, which has multiple options across the globe. Monthly rent varies depending the location, type of room. University accommodations are bit expenses compared to other.
