Should you pick BA Psychology at Assam Don Bosco University?
This course suits students who want to study how people think and plan a master's in psychology after it.
Pick it if:
You plan a master's after this: 187 of 365 UG graduates went on to higher studies, and an alumna cleared UGC-NET in Psychology in 2026.
You want to meet working psychologists: the department hosts CPSICON, a clinical psychology meet in Guwahati, from 12 to 15 Nov 2026.
You want to see real mental health work: the course sends you on an internship in mental health settings in the fourth semester.
Your Class 12 marks are just above 50%: the interview decides the seat, so apply early and be ready to say why you chose psychology.
Skip it if:
You want a psychology job right after the BA: the 2026 campus offers came from Tata Electronics and Tata Motors, not clinics.
You want a high starting salary: the university's 3-year UG graduates had a median pay of INR 2.69 LPA, and only 18% were placed.
You need meals in the hostel fee: the Tapesia hostel gives a room only, and you pay for each meal at the food court.
You want to live in the city: the Tapesia campus is at Sonapur, outside Guwahati city, so you travel to reach the city.
Counsellor's advice
If you plan a master's in psychology, take this seat and use the fourth semester internship well. If you need a job right after the BA, choose a course with direct campus hiring.

In short
USTM costs INR 42,000 more, and its 3-year UG graduates of an older batch had a higher median pay. If a master's is your plan, take ADBU for the lower fee; if pay after the BA matters most, look closer at USTM.
In short
Royal Global costs INR 92,000 more, but its 3-year UG graduates had a higher median pay and more were placed. If you can pay more and want a job after the BA, consider Royal Global; if not, ADBU costs less.
In short
GCU costs INR 44,000 less and includes the exam fee, but it does not publish pay or placement figures. If the fee is your main worry, compare both; if you want a published placement record, ADBU has one.
In short
AdtU does not publish its BA Psychology fee, but its 3-year UG graduates were placed more often and at a higher median pay. If AdtU gives you its fee in writing and it is close, compare both before you pay ADBU.
Fees and pay can change. Check each college site before you decide.
FAQs on Assam Don Bosco University BA Psychology
Straight answers to what students ask before they decide.
Is BA Psychology at Assam Don Bosco University worth the fee?▾
Yes, if you plan to study further after it. The full fee without hostel is INR 3.18 Lakhs, and 187 of 365 UG graduates went on to higher studies. The median pay of INR 2.69 LPA is low, so do not count on the BA alone to pay the fee back. Plan your master's from year 2.
What job can I get right after this course?▾
Most graduates do not get a psychology job straight after the BA. In 2026, nine students got campus offers from Tata Electronics, Tata Motors and Royal Enfield, and these are not psychology roles. Counsellor and clinical jobs need a master's. If you want those jobs, plan a master's in psychology after the BA.
Who should not take this course here?▾
Skip it if you need a job with good pay right after the BA. The university's 3-year UG graduates had a median pay of INR 2.69 LPA, and only 18% were placed. Skip it too if you want meals in the hostel fee or life in the city, because the Tapesia hostel is room only and the campus is outside Guwahati city.
Is this course good for becoming a clinical psychologist?▾
Yes, as a first step, but it is not enough on its own. The BA gives you the base, and the fourth semester internship puts you in mental health settings. You still need a master's and further clinical training after it. Check the entry rules of the master's you want before year 3.
Should I leave after 3 years or finish the fourth year?▾
Finish the fourth year if you plan research or a master's. Under NEP you can leave with a BA after year 3, but year 4 gives the Honours or Honours with Research route. The research orientation starts in the seventh semester. If you must start working early, the three-year exit is there for you.
Will I get a seat with 50% in Class 12?▾
You can apply, but the seat is not sure. 50% is only the minimum to apply. The test or interview and your marks decide the seat, and admission closes once the 60 seats are filled. Apply soon after the form opens and be ready to say why you chose psychology.
Should I take a seat here if my Class 12 result is not out yet?▾
Yes, if this is your first choice. You can take a provisional seat and show 50% in Class 12 by 31 October. If you cannot show it, the fee comes back after a cut for the tuition and annual fees. Keep your result date in mind before you pay.
Is the Tapesia hostel good for a first year student?▾
It suits you if you are fine paying for meals on your own. The room costs INR 14,000 a semester and does not include food. You eat at the food court or Bosco Cafe and pay per meal. Book the room soon after you pay the first semester fee, because booking opens only then.
Can I pay the fee in parts?▾
Yes. The fee is split into eight parts, paid each July and January over four years. The first part, with the admission fee and caution deposit, is due when you take admission. Ask the college about bank loans if you need more help, as it helps students apply for them.
Do I get my fee back if I leave?▾
It depends on when you leave. If you ask for a refund before classes start, all fees come back after a cut of INR 1,000. After classes start, no refund is given. The caution deposit comes back only when you finish the course, after any dues are cleared.
What scholarships can I get here?▾
The university gives merit, means, disability and sports scholarships. The 90% merit scholarship gives INR 1.20 Lakhs over the course and the means scholarship INR 80,000 for a family income below INR 2 Lakhs. Merit awards are few, so apply for them at admission. Use the scholarship calculator above for your own case.
How do I get admission to this course?▾
Apply online and pay the INR 600 form fee. The Admission Office then gives you a date for the test and interview, both on one day. If you are selected, pay the admission fee by 5 pm that day and the rest within 7 days, or you lose the seat.
The college offers a four-year program with a fixed fee structure of approximately 1,60,000 INR, which covers all eight semesters and any additional charges. This fee ensures students can budget their expenses over the duration of their studies. For assistance in understanding this structure and exploring placement opportunities, students can access resources from platforms like Collegedunia and Internshala. These platforms provide guidance and support, potentially enhancing the educational and career prospects for students.
