NFSU LL.M. Cyber Law FAQs

Ques. Is NFSU part of the NLU Consortium for PG CLAT counselling, or does it have a separate process?

Ans. NFSU is NOT part of the NLU Consortium counselling process. While admission to the LL.M. programme at NFSU is based on PG CLAT 2026 scores, NFSU conducts its own separate merit list and counselling process. Candidates must apply independently on the NFSU admission portal (nfsuadm.samarth.edu.in) in addition to having a valid PG CLAT score. The NFSU merit list is prepared based on the All India Rank in PG CLAT, and counselling is conducted by NFSU's School of Law, Forensic Justice and Policy Studies.

Ques. What is the minimum PG CLAT rank required to get admission into NFSU LL.M. Cyber Law?

Ans. NFSU does not publish an official cut-off rank. However, based on the 2025-26 merit list, candidates with general category ranks up to approximately 3,000-5,000 in PG CLAT have secured admission, given the relatively small intake of 20 seats. The actual rank required varies each year depending on the number of applicants and their preferences. Since NFSU is not an NLU, many high-ranked candidates prefer NLUs, making it relatively accessible for candidates with moderate PG CLAT ranks.

Ques. What career opportunities are available after completing LL.M. Cyber Law from NFSU?

Ans. Graduates of the LL.M. Cyber Law and Cyber Crime Investigation programme can pursue careers as Cyber Lawyers, Legal Advisors in IT companies, Cyber Crime Investigators with law enforcement agencies (CBI, state police cyber cells), Compliance Officers, Data Protection Officers, and Legal Consultants for cybersecurity firms. The unique combination of law and forensic science at NFSU also opens doors to roles in government agencies like CERT-In, NIA, and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. Some graduates also pursue judicial services or academic careers.

Ques. Is the LL.M. at NFSU a 1-year or 2-year programme, and how is it structured?

Ans. The LL.M. Cyber Law and Cyber Crime Investigation at NFSU is a 1-year programme divided into 2 semesters. Semester 1 covers foundational subjects including Comparative Public Law, Cyber Technology and Cyber Crime, Introduction to Cyber Laws, and includes a mandatory Internship. Semester 2 focuses on advanced topics like Digital Forensics, Cyber Space Technology and IPR Issues, Financial Fraud Investigation, and includes both an Elective (Mobile/Network Forensics or Multimedia Forensics) and a Dissertation. The 1-year structure makes it a focused, intensive programme compared to the 2-year LLM offered at many other universities.

Ques. Can a candidate with a 3-year LLB (without a prior graduation degree) apply for NFSU LL.M. Cyber Law?

Ans. No. The eligibility requires either a 3-year LL.B. programme completed AFTER a graduation degree, or a 5-year integrated law programme (like B.Sc. LL.B. or B.B.A. LL.B.). A standalone 3-year LL.B. without a prior bachelor's degree does not meet the eligibility criteria. This is consistent with the Bar Council of India's norms for LLM admissions. Candidates must ensure they meet the 50% aggregate marks requirement in their qualifying law degree.

Ques. Does NFSU offer hostel facilities for LL.M. students, and what is the approximate cost of living near the campus?

Ans. NFSU Gandhinagar does not provide on-campus hostel facilities for PG students including LL.M. students. The university maintains an empanelled list of off-campus hostels near the Gandhinagar campus. The approximate hostel fee is Rs. 75,000 per semester for an AC room and Rs. 56,000 per semester for a non-AC room. Gandhinagar is a planned city with relatively affordable PG accommodations and flats available near the NFSU campus. The total cost of living including accommodation, food, and other expenses is estimated at Rs. 10,000-15,000 per month.
