Ques. What is the eligibility for this programme? Can a B.Sc. (Physics or Chemistry) graduate apply?
Ans. The eligibility for the Professional Diploma in Semiconductor Security is specifically restricted to engineering and technology graduates. Eligible qualifications include B.Tech in Electronics, Electronics and Communication, Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or Cyber Security; MCA; or M.Sc in Electronics, IT, or Computer Science - with a minimum of 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwD). A B.Sc. in Physics or Chemistry alone does not qualify, as the programme requires a strong foundation in electronics and digital hardware. NFSU may expand this programme to other campuses in future years as demand grows.

It is not a substitute for a full M.Tech or M.Sc degree, which provides broader and deeper coverage of electronics or cyber security. However, it is an excellent supplement for those who already have an engineering degree and want to specialise quickly in semiconductor security without committing to a 2-year programme. For those who want to work specifically in semiconductor security roles in the industry or government, this diploma provides more targeted and practical training than a general M.Tech or M.Sc. Students who want both breadth and depth should consider pursuing the M.Tech Cyber Security or M.Sc Digital Forensics and Information Security at NFSU alongside or after this diploma.
Ques. What is the admission process for AY 2026-27? Is there any entrance exam?
Ans. For AY 2026-27, admission to the Professional Diploma in Semiconductor Security is based purely on merit in the qualifying degree - there is no separate entrance exam. Candidates need to register on the NFSU admission portal (nfsuadm.samarth.edu.in) before the deadline of 10th June 2026, submit their documents, and await the merit list. The merit list is prepared based on the percentage of marks obtained in the qualifying degree (B.Tech/MCA/M.Sc). Given the very limited intake of 20 seats and the niche eligibility criteria, competition is relatively lower compared to mainstream programmes. Candidates with higher aggregate marks in their qualifying degree will have a better chance of securing a seat. Seat allotment is done through a counselling process based on the merit list.
