Should you pick PhD Management at Christ University?

This course suits students who want to teach or do research in management and can study on campus full time.

Pick it if:
You want to teach in a B-school later: after coursework, scholars teach in the department up to six hours a week and build a teaching record.
You want to research analytics or AI: this cohort's openings list names guides in business analytics, AI in finance and marketing technology.
You need an income during the PhD: every full-time scholar without a UGC or ICSSR fellowship gets a monthly research fellowship from month 7.
You hold NET, SLET or GATE: you skip the entrance test and sit only the skill test, so your proposal talk decides most of the result.
Skip it if:
You have a job and want to keep it: full-time scholars must be on campus every working day during coursework and after it.
You want a company job right after: the university publishes no campus placement figures for PhD scholars, so you look for jobs on your own.
You want to finish in three years: NIRF data shows 5 full-time scholars graduated in 2023-24, out of 55 on the rolls.
You want the fee fixed for all years: the university fixes the fee one year at a time and says it may rise a little.
Counsellor's advice
If you hold NET-JRF, apply full-time and take the UGC fellowship instead of the university one. If you have only a PG degree, write your research proposal before the test, because the panel reads it.

In short
Alliance charges more but pays a bigger monthly fellowship and graduates more full-time scholars. If you can pay the higher fee for that fellowship, look at Alliance; if the lower fee matters more, take Christ University.
In short
NMIMS ranks higher and costs less after its scholarship, but it is in Mumbai and does not state its fellowship amount. If the higher rank matters most, apply to NMIMS; if you want Bangalore and a stated fellowship, take Christ University.
In short
Amrita ranks higher, charges less and its merit fellowship pays more, but not every scholar gets it. If you win that merit fellowship, Amrita is the better deal; if not, Christ University pays every full-time scholar.
In short
Jain has more full-time scholars and graduates, but it does not publish its PhD fee or fellowship. If you are choosing between the two, ask Jain for its fee in writing; until then, Christ University has the clearer numbers.

Fees and fellowships can change. Check each college site before you decide.

FAQs on Christ University PhD Management

Straight answers to what students ask before they decide.

Is a PhD in Management at Christ University worth the fee?
Yes, for most full-time scholars. The full fee is INR 2.18 Lakhs for three years, and the Christ research fellowship pays INR 6.12 Lakhs over the same time. So the fellowship covers the fee more than twice. Check the fellowship rules in the scholarship block above before you pay the first fee.
Should I take this PhD if I want to become a professor?
Yes, this is the course that fits that goal. After coursework, full-time scholars teach or help in the department up to six hours a week, which builds a teaching record. Keep a paper in a Q1 or Q2 journal as your target by year 3, because it also raises your fellowship to INR 20,000 a month.
What job can I get after this PhD?
Most scholars aim for teaching and research posts in business schools. Christ does not publish campus placement figures for PhD scholars, so there is no placement cell record to count on. If you want a company job quickly, an MBA or a job first may suit you better, so decide that before you apply.
Who should not take the full-time PhD here?
Skip the full-time route if you must keep your job. Full-time scholars must be on campus every working day, and coursework is from 9 am to 4 pm for six months. If you need to keep working, look at the part-time PhD, which has weekend coursework and a higher fee.
Is it better to join with NET-JRF or through the entrance test?
NET-JRF is better if you have it. JRF holders skip the entrance test and get the UGC fellowship of INR 13.92 Lakhs over three years, far more than the Christ fellowship. If you are close to clearing NET-JRF, sit the next UGC NET before you decide.
Should I wait for the next cohort if I am not ready?
Yes, if your research proposal is not ready. The panel reads your proposal closely, and Christ takes new scholars more than once a year, so the next cohort is only a few months away. Use the gap to write a clear proposal and, if you can, to sit UGC NET.
Will I finish the PhD in three years?
Many scholars take longer than three years. NIRF data shows 5 full-time scholars graduated in 2023-24, out of 55 on the rolls. Plan your money for more than three years, and agree a clear timeline with your guide after coursework.
Is this PhD a good choice for analytics or AI research?
Yes, if your topic fits a guide. The openings list for this cohort names guides in business analytics, AI in finance and marketing technology. Read the list on the Centre for Research page and name a guide whose area matches your proposal before you apply.
Does the fellowship cover my living costs in Bangalore?
It helps, but it may not cover everything. The Christ fellowship is INR 15,000 a month in year 1 and INR 18,000 in year 2, and it starts only from month 7. Hostel is not in the fee, so keep money aside for rent and food for the first six months.
How do I get admission to this PhD?
Apply online and pay the application fee. Then sit the entrance test, or the skill test if you hold NET, SLET or GATE, and give a 10-minute proposal talk and an interview. If you are selected, pay the fee within seven days of the result, or you lose the seat.
What marks do I need to apply?
You need 55% in your PG degree, or 50% if you are SC, ST, OBC-NCL or PwD. The degree should be in management or a subject close to it. Use the checker above to see which test you will sit with your marks and exam.
Can I get the fee back if I leave?
The INR 8,000 registration fee is not returned if you cancel. Christ also says a cancellation charge may apply to the rest. Read the cancellation rules on the admission portal before you pay the programme fee.

Does Christ University Bangalore offer placements for Law courses?

Vipul MishraLLM in Intellectual Property and Trade Law from Christ University (2016 - 2018 Batch)

SLCU Christ University is one of the best private Law colleges in India. SLCU Law ranking by IIRF is 16 out of 50 in India in 2024 and it was ranked #17 out of 70 by India Today in 2023.

I did my LLM in Intellectual Property and Trade Law from SLCU Christ University in 2018. I can say it is one of the top private universities to do LLM courses because of its education Quality, teaching methods, etc. SLCU offers decent placements with lucrative offers and high ROI. The Department has a seperate placement cells which guides and trains students for placements, how to face Group discussions for interviews, etc. Right from the final semester SLCU's active placement cells starts teaching students; how to sit for the interview, to talk and negotiate for high package, building an attractive CV, etc. The average CTC package when I completed my graduation at SLCU Christ University was between INR 4 - 7 LPA and for sure it is above INR 7 LPA these days. Luthra and Luthra, S&R Associates, Khaitan & Co., Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas and AZB & Partners are some top recruiters in SLCU for LLM graduates.

Is pursuing LLM at School of Law, Christ University expensive?

Uttam KumarLLM from Christ University (2021 Batch)

Christ University has a separate school for its law course that is School of Law - Christ University. SLCU offers several Law courses at UG, PG, Diploma and Doctorate level. It offers 3 LLM courses at a fees Structure ranging between INR 1,50,000 - 2,50,000 based on LLM specializations.

Pursuing a LLM course from SLCU Christ University Bangalore at a fees of INR 2.50 Lakhs is not expensive as per my perspective. For financially weaker students, SLCU Christ University Bangalore also provides Education Loan and many scholarships. I myself was one such user to get Scholarships from Christ University. Scholarships at SLCU are offered based on academic results of a student during LLM course. When compared to other colleges offering LLM and the Education Quality and facilities offered at Christ University, fees is reasonable.

Can I pursue LLB from Christ University without BBA or BA?

Rohan TiwariLLM from Christ University (2016 Batch)

No, you cannot pursue LLB from Christ University without BBA or BA. My name is Rohan Tiwari. I have completed an LLM from Christ University. This is the same question that I had before.

Christ University, Bangalore offers different law courses including integrated LLB and LLM. School of love Christ University does not offer a direct LLB course. Candidates wishing to pursue LLB course must have to complete 10 + 2 or any Bachelors Degree for minimum 3 years. One cannot opt LLB without any prior Bachelor's degree. But if anyone likes to do only LLB then they have to spend 1 year extra which means that if someone has intentionally or unintentionally completed a 3-years degree course like BA, BCom, BBA, etc. then one can pursue a 3 years LLB course. So I have done BA Hons from Pune University but due to the transfer of my father, we relocated to Bangalore and later on I got interested in Law studies so I opted for a 3-years LLB course at Christ University. I spent 6-years for BA and LLB courses. So according to my experience it is better to pursue integrated LLB courses with BBA / BA or BCom, etc.

Aisha KhanMBA Marketing from Christ University (2015 - 2017 Batch)

I have completed my MBA from Christ University. I have good connections with Christ University, and they call me for counseling and mentoring the current MBA batches. Mostly I come across the question of whether science graduates can pursue an MBA at Christ University.

First of all, candidates who wish to get admission into Christ University must be well acquainted with the eligibility criteria set by the University for MBA admission. Aspirants must complete a Bachelor's degree in any stream with a minimum aggregate of 60%. In addition to that, they must qualify MAT / CAT / CMAT / XAT / GMAT / GRE / ATMA. Finally, shortlisted candidates are called for GD/ PI and document verification.

You are eligible for MBA admissions at Christ University Bangalore with a Bachelor’s in any stream, as long as you fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria.

Do I need Work Experience to be selected by Christ University for an MBA?

Shahzad KhanMBA Human Resources Management from Christ University (2017 - 2019 Batch)

As a Christ University student, I would like to answer this question for you.

I have completed an MBA in Human Resources Management from Christ University in 2019. As per my knowledge, experience plays an important role in MBA admission into any top College/ University like Christ.

MBA Admissions at Christ University are entrance-based. Aspirants must qualify an MBA entrance and face GD PI rounds to get admission. For some MBA specializations and Executive MBA, one may also be asked for a minimum of 1-2 years of work experience in the relevant field.

After my bachelor's, I started working in a 4-star hotel and took a break from my studies. There I worked for 2 years and gained important knowledge and skills. I was given preference over other candidates because of my work experience.

This is how work experience plays a role in MBA admissions at Christ University.
