Ques. How should one get summer internship at IIM Bangalore?

● Top Answer By Sethuparvathy S on 13 Apr 21

Ans. There are several ways for engineering and management students to get a summer internship at IIM Bangalore, which depends on the profile, qualifications, and proper communication with required authorities. The points listed below gives a brief overview of the procedure to get an internship at IIM Bangalore. You need to go through the website of IIM Bangalore and find your expertise and interest, like HR, marketing, finance, etc initially. There is a committee known as NS Raghavan Entrepreneurship Cell (NSRCEL) in IIM Bangalore, which provides internships to students. Other than that, candidates can work as an intern under a professor at IIM Bangalore. For getting a Research Internship, you first need to go through the respective working areas of the professors at IIM Bangalore and write an email to them about the request for an internship. This request e-mail must contain the candidate’s resume and a cover letter. For getting a Real-time Internship, you need to directly contact the NSRCEL at IIM Bangalore, where the committee will provide related works in some of the best start-ups across the country. This is based on the candidate’s field of interest, like Marketing, Growth Hacking, Strategy Making, Finance, etc. There are faculties and mentors whose communication channels are mentioned in the NSRCEL section of the website. Emails once sent should be re-forwarded to get them noticed by the authorities. Mails should be sent during the months of February and March, after which they usually finalize the internship offers. After March, internships with a standard stipend are not found vacant. These are some of the key highlights that you need to consider for securing an internship at IIM Bangalore.Read more

Ques. Comparing IIM Bangalore and Great Lakes, which would be a better option to go for an executive business analytics course?

● Top Answer By Komal Chawla on 13 Apr 21

Ans. If you are interested in a two-year MBA degree, Great Lakes program for Business Analytics is a good choice, considering several factors including placement, teaching style, faculties, and curriculum that assists in career growth. One of my friends attended the institute and speaks very highly of it.  The points below give a brief overview of the Business Analytics program in Great Lakes and its advantages. There are students with no prior knowledge in relevant subjects like statistics, coding, machine learning, etc, but still, get used to the curriculum in Business Analytics. There is a lot of diversity in the institute, with students from different branches in engineering- CSE, Electrical, Mechanical, etc, with several years of experience, and even some entrepreneurs into business. Even from the initial days, students are taught about professionalism, in a smooth learning environment. In a B-School, there are several kinds of individuals to interact with, some trying to make a different career stream, while some trying for a salary hike. Interacting with people from different mindsets has its own advantages. Every session covers one important topic and helps students build up their confidence, including topics like SQL stack, python programming, and Tableau dashboards. There are several eminent faculties from around the world, namely Mahesh Anand, Sayan De, etc. Some teachers are even faculties, professors, or Ph.D. holders from universities like Penn State and Stanford. The placement assistance team in Great Lakes helps a lot for grabbing an opportunity in placement. There are students who are even successful in getting a job before their project is over. Even freshers are offered 9+ LPA jobs from companies like Nielsen, Capgemini, etc. My friend was a little skeptical about the curriculum and placements of the institute. However, his experience with the degree was quite good. If you want a career in Business Analytics, Great Lakes is definitely a good choice.Read more

Ques. What are some IIM Bangalore interview questions?

● Top Answer By Abhijit Pal on 13 Apr 21

Ans. One of my friends appeared for the interview at IIM Bangalore. He is an alumnus of Jadavpur University and had proper work experience in VISA and AMAZON. Here is his overall interview experience in brief.  In the WAT, the institute provides a time duration of 10 minutes for note-taking and 20 min for essay writing. The topic provided was related to B-Schools in India, having a rapid rise in number but the degradation of quality. He was asked to suggest a proper framework for the quality assurance of B-Schools. In the personal interview round, there were two interviewers who took a 25-minute discussion. First, he was asked about his working experience in VISA, along with some major working areas of the company. Starting with some initial team and role introduction, he discussed the direct and indirect projects and development procedures he has worked on inside the company. He was asked about the future scope of the company in India, in reference to demonetization and UPI. He carefully stated the growth of the business of VISA due to demonetization, with an increase in debit and credit card usage.  Following that, he was asked to suggest a new product for VISA. The candidate briefly suggested a Blockchain-based payment method. There is a common question that is asked to almost every experienced candidate, which is the reason behind the candidate’s leaving a job and choosing MBA. Here you need to express your interest in the field of management. My friend was also asked why he doesn't prefer a transfer from engineering to PM roles internally.  There were also questions related to Digital India and DeMo, and their risk in privacy issues. This was a very tactical question in which the government’s motive and the user’s requirements need to be addressed simultaneously. He was then asked about GAFA- Google, Apple, Facebook, and Amazon. In the end, the panel usually asks some interesting facts and ends the discussion by saying if the interviewee has any questions for them. This was his overall interview experience. Though all interview experiences are different, there are some similar instances in each. In most cases, the interviewers are calm and helpful. You need to be true to yourself and deliver every answer based on your own beliefs, which is easier to convince.Read more

Ques. Which is better, Data Science M.Tech from IIT Hyderabad, or Big Data Analytics Certification from IIM Bangalore?

● Top Answer By Manoj Maurya on 08 Apr 21

Ans. Among the given choices, IIT Hyderabad is better for pursuing a course in Data Science. Here is some of the information regarding both the colleges. IIT Hyderabad - It is one of the oldest and admired autonomous colleges which is offering MTech in Data science. This program is designed exclusively for professionals working in the industry. The eligible candidate should have a BTech or BE degree or an MCA/MSc/MS/ME/M.Tech. degree in the relevant field with at least 70% marks or 7.0 CGPA in one of the qualifying examinations. The candidate should also have a minimum of three years of work experience in the relevant industry. The selection is based on written tests that are being conducted by IIT Hyderabad followed by personal interviews. IIM Bangalore - The Big data analytics certification program is designed for students who want to equip themselves with an in-depth knowledge of Big Data Analytics (BDA). The course curriculum contains real case studies and hands-on demonstrations to illustrate the applications of key concepts. The eligible students should have a Bachelor’s degree in any stream with mathematics as one of the subjects during their Bachelor’s program. The students with a minimum work experience of 3 years will be preferred. The applicants are shortlisted based on the online test, academic performance, work experience, and personal interview. These are some of the details about these institutes. Both of these are best with their own programs. The final decision should be yours. One of my friends pursued MTech in Data Science from IIT Hyderabad, so I can vouch for the course.Read more

Ques. How is the career growth after one year MBA from IIMs (Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Lucknow, Indore)?

● Top Answer By Keshav Jindal on 19 Mar 21

Ans. First of all, let me take my time to shatter some of the prevalent myths regarding a one-year MBA, such as: Class timings are flexible. You attend classes according to your job.  You should know that it is a one-year ‘Full Time' MBA program. Therefore, you need to be on campus and attend classes like a regular student.  You cannot continue the course with your job or take a furlough for this course because the classes run from 9 to 5 on all weekdays and may even run on the weekends. Proceeding towards the question, you are eligible for one year MBA if you are a professional with at least five years of work experience. There's clearly career growth after this course because, without this MBA, professionals with five years of experience are offered roles of mid or senior management. This transition is hard because companies don't hire you for high-paying jobs just on the basis of that much experience. Doing a one-year MBA proves better than settling for a below-average package.  This MBA course at IIMs assists you to establish your network that in turn helps you to switch to high-paying senior managerial jobs.  In the nutshell, most of the companies have started to value one-year MBA programs, you are most probably going to gain that extra edge in your career growth after pursuing this course. Even then, there might be some new HR's who are not up to date and may not open up to the one-year MBA Program. Read more
