CUSAT: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 1 Reviews

Admission to the college is determined by an entrance examination, followed by a rank-based allotment process for various MSc programs. The faculty comprises experienced professionals, including former scientists from the India Meteorological Department, who are well-regarded in meteorology and supportive of student inquiries. The college, a government institution, offers an affordable fee structure, requiring a payment of 5000 per semester for each of the four semesters.

Although the college does not offer direct scholarships or loans, students can take advantage of various government-provided scholarships. Internship programs are available, offering job opportunities in both government and private sectors, though they do not include stipends. Students skilled in computer programming and atmospheric dynamics are particularly likely to secure placements.

CUSAT: 2 Answered Questions

Which course should I prefer in the CUSAT with a rank of 1,500 (general), and what courses are better in the CUSAT?

Anirudh JoshiStudied at Cochin University of Science and Technology

Your options at CUSAT will vary depending on your domicile. If you are from Kerala, you can expect to get almost any branch at CUSAT with your rank. In that case, opt for Ship Tech or Safety and Fire Engineering. CS is also a good option.

If you belong to some other state, you won’t get Ship Tech or Safety and Fire. You can get the second one during spot round, if you are lucky enough. So, you’ll be left with EEE, ECE, Civil, IT, CS and Mechanical as your options. Out of these, CS and ECE are the best choices at CUSAT.

Consider your options carefully, and make the decision accordingly.

Can I get admission for integrated courses in CUSAT if I have a rank 930?

Namrata Das
Sreeja PrasadCochin University Of Science and Technology (2017)

Unless you have some special reservation, your chances of getting admission into the MSc. integrated courses in CUSAT with rank 930 are quite low. The integrated MSc. program was started by CUSAT in 2018. Even with minimum advertising, almost all the seats were filled by students within rank 500 that year.

Only 60 seats are available for this program and each student has to study Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Statistics during the first four semesters. You can choose your specialization for the 5th sem based on your marks in these subjects. If you are planning on appearing for the exam again, I would recommend you to work really hard. In 2018, within rank 200, around 29-30 seats got filled and within rank 500, more than 55 seats got filled. The seats are expected to be filled within rank 200 in the coming years. The exam for B.Tech and integrated MSc. is the same, but you need to register separately for both the programs and the rank list for both is also separate.

Basically, with rank 930 you can not get admission into CUSAT for an integrated MSc. You must maintain a rank lesser than or equal to 200-500 to get an admission without any difficulty.
