Admission :

The group discussion round is not conducted at IIM Shillong. Whereas Personal interview has more importance for the final selection process of the PGPM program at institute. The past academic records, work experience, gender diversity and personal appearances factor the selection process.

Remarks :

IIM Shillong is a good institute and offers great placement opportunities. It has partnered with international companies and there is facility for student exchange program. The basic eligibility for PGPM program is CAT score and the admission process commences in June every year.

Admission :

IIM-Shillong conducts final round of interview for further selection of students. The institute interview panel was very chilled out when my interview was going on. They asked about my hobbies, routine, interests, selection of MBA, etc. The basic tip of cracking the interview round is to not think much about the solution or the question. Whatever strikes the mind, speak that only.

Remarks :

IIM-Shillong provides a friendly environment with equal proportions of studies and non-academic activities. It also offers various facilities to improve and help student's performance in the best possible way. There are social events, activities, competitions, fests, seminars industry visits, etc. being held at the Institute that adds flavors to the B-school.

Admission :

No group discussion was held but I did had to appear for a personal interview and written test was also conducted. But, before all of this, I was shortlisted on the basis of my CAT scores of 80%. To prepare for the admission process, I had to join a coaching center, they helped me throughout the process, even for the personal interview round, they gave us one on one guidance.

Remarks :

The small class size attracted me to this institution for me the location of the campus was just amazing. Also, I read a lot of good reviews of this place, so I decided to go for it and submitted an online application form at the official website of the college and paid ?3500 to start the admission process. I paid the application fee via online transfer.

Remarks :

IIM Shillong is one of the oldest second-generation IIMs in India. With a placement record of 100%, it is marked as 'campus in clouds'. The admission process is very transparent. They take admission only through CAT scores. I had a score of 97 percentile which led through the college announced cut-offs. There was a GD and PI Round after the initial selection through CAT Scores. Being one of the top management institutes in the country, they have a very well-established corporate connection. The MBA Course structure includes a wide range of topics and seminars. The internship program included in the course curriculum has helped me gain practical life experience in the professional field.

Remarks :

IIM Shillong is a college with a fairly good alum base and the placements are really good as it is one of the older IIMs. The placement season might be longer compared to ABC but the college ensures that each student is placed in the desired profile with the handsome package which is comparable to ILK. The college is student-driven so we get a lot of opportunities to explore ourselves. The college diversity and batch size are really good which make peer-to-peer learning and placements insightful. The campus is beautiful, one of the best among IIMs due to its location and architecture.

Admission :

There was a single personal interview for admission. I was mainly asked questions regarding my background, but the interviewers targeted everything I said, such that if I said my hometown was so-and-so, they would ask what the specialty of that region was, or if I said I liked accounting as a subject, they would give me an accounting question to solve on the spot. Therefore it was not a very easy interview, but I nevertheless gave my best.

Remarks :

I visited Shillong once when I was 12 and kind of fell in love with the place because of its scenic and natural beauty. So after my graduation when I decided to do an MBA, I got the idea of doing it at the IIM there. I wrote CAT and gave this as my third option (the first two were Ahmedabad and Bangalore), and I was happy to get a call from IIM Shillong! I then had to go for the interview, which I was nervous about but managed to handle.

Admission :

I had to write CAT and secure a great percentile (94) to be able to be in their cutoff that year. After this I received the call for my personal interview which was intense but very informative. The panel asked me about my reasons to choose this IIM and proceeded with many questions that would make most of us uncomfortable and doubtful. Weightage was also given to my high school and intermediate marks. All in all, I got through.

Remarks :

My best friend went to IIM Shillong a year before me and always told me about how underrated it was. While I had applied for CAT with her, I didn’t do very well as her. All the time she was there she talked about her campus, professors and the beauty of Northeastern states. I felt it was spectacular and something I should see on my own. Since my work experience was not a lot, I prepared well for my upcoming CAT exam and scored pretty well. Next thing I know, I appeared for a PI and rest is history.
