Sikkim University is a central university established under an Act of Parliament of India. It is located in Gangtok. The campus is expected to be built at Yangang in South Sikkim district, about 56 kilometers (35 mi) from Gangtok. Its mission is to achieve intellectual, academic and cultural development of the people of Eastern Himalayas. The university has fourteen Affiliated Colleges. It provides UG, PG and Doctoral courses. Sikkim University Admission is based on entrance test namely Central Admission Test (CAT) which is conducted by the university. For admission to MBA Program, the university accepts CAT/ MAT/ C-MAT score.

At the undergraduate level, Sikkim University offers various courses in the fields of Arts and Science. All the UG courses are offered with the duration period of three years. The intake capacity depends upon the nature of courses opted by the candidates.
In order to get admission to any of the UG program, applicants need to pass class 12 with minimum 45% marks from a reputed board. Eligible candidates can submit the application form on the official website of Sikkim university.
The selection for all UG courses is done on the basis of Central Admission Test (CAT). The exam consists of 100 marks, students have to score at least 50% marks to qualify the same. At the postgraduate level, the university offers various courses in the fields of Arts, Science, Commerce, Business Administration, Computer Application, Travel and Tourism Management, Public Administration etc. The minimum eligibility to apply for PG programs is graduation degree with minimum 50% marks from a well-recognized university or institute.
Candidates who will successfully qualify the eligibility criteria can submit the application form on the official website of university. The selection is done on the basis of entrance test i.e. Central Admission Test (CAT). Applicants must score at least 50% marks in CAT to be eligible for admission to PG courses.
Applicants having graduation degree with minimum required marks are eligible to apply for doctoral programs. For admission to Ph.D. and M.Phil courses, students have to appear for a written test and interview round which is conducted by Sikkim University. The list of shortlisted candidates for written test and for interview shall be uploaded on University website and will be displayed on departmental notice boards. However, applicants with UGC- JRF, CSIR-JRF, GATE / SLET or M.Phil. Degree holders, wherever applicable, are exempted from written examination.
