Thiruvalluvar University is a public university in the city of Vellore, Tamil Nadu, India. It was established by the Government of Tamil Nadu, under the Thiruvalluvar University Act, 2002. The University was named after Tamil poet and philosopher Thiruvalluvar. There are 98 Affiliated Colleges out of which four are the constituent colleges of University. The university imparts education in UG, PG and Research Programs.

The university takes admission in M.Phil. program in two categories, i.e., Full-time, and Part-time. In case of Ph.D. programs, the categories are Full Time, Part Time, and Independent Research Scholars. Thiruvallavur University offers distance education courses through Thiruvallavur Institute of Distance Education, also known as TIDE.
