Admission to the college is based on an entrance exam and merit list. Prospective students must pay Rs. 800 to apply for the entrance exam online. Once the exam is completed, admissions are granted based on a merit list. While faculty numbers are low in most departments, guest faculty help bolster the teaching staff. The campus provides a supportive learning environment. However, the university's fees are considered high, especially given the local cost of living, making them a financial burden despite it being a central university.

Stipends are available from both the state and central governments, but they can be withdrawn if the college performs poorly. The university does not provide loan facilities. Stipends specifically support students from lower-income SC and ST categories, leading to discontent among general category students who are not eligible for this financial aid and believe the policy should be revised.
