BBAU B.Tech FAQs
Ques. How does the 50-50 seat split between JEE Main and CUET UG work at BBAU and which route is easier?
Ans. At BBAU, 50% of B.Tech seats in each branch are filled through CUET UG and the remaining 50% through JEE Main, both via BBAU’s own counselling at bbaucuet.samarth.edu.in, not JoSAA. The CUET UG route is generally more accessible since the test draws from a different candidate pool than JEE Main. However, CSE at BBAU is competitive through CUET too given high demand. If your JEE Main rank is above 1 lakh, the CUET UG route gives you the stronger chance.
Ques. Is BBAU B.Tech valid for GATE and government jobs, and how does it compare with NIT degrees in hiring?
Ans. BBAU B.Tech is a UGC-recognized degree from a central university and is fully valid for GATE and government job applications requiring a B.Tech. Many BBAU graduates have qualified GATE and joined PSUs. For private sector hiring, NIT degrees carry more weight especially with tier-1 IT companies that hold dedicated NIT campus drives. BBAU is the stronger choice for PSU-focused students and those comfortable with mass recruitment through TCS, Infosys, and HCL.
Ques. Does the 50% SC/ST reservation at BBAU apply to students from all states, not just UP?
Ans. Yes. BBAU’s 50% SC/ST reservation applies to SC/ST candidates from any state in India, not just Uttar Pradesh. There is no state domicile requirement for CUET UG-based admissions. UP-domicile SC/ST students additionally qualify for UP state post-matric scholarships that can reimburse full tuition, bringing the effective cost close to zero for eligible candidates.
Ques. Which B.Tech branch at BBAU offers the best placement outcomes?
Ans. CSE has the highest placement activity at BBAU among all B.Tech branches given the volume of IT companies visiting campus. ECE is second, with electronics and telecom companies participating in drives. Civil and Mechanical branches have fewer direct campus placements but have strong pathways through GATE-based PSU exams such as NTPC, BEL, and ONGC recruitment. For direct private sector jobs, CSE is the first choice. For PSU-focused students, ECE, Electrical, and Mechanical are all viable.
Ques. Does BBAU B.Tech have any industry internship program built into the curriculum?
Ans. BBAU B.Tech does not have a formal co-op or structured industry internship program embedded in the curriculum. Students pursue summer internships independently between semesters and through the placement cell. Recruiters like TCS and Infosys conduct both internship and placement drives on campus. Self-initiated internships through LinkedIn and personal contacts remain the primary route to high-quality internship experiences at BBAU.
