Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith or MGKVP is a public university situated in the Benares, also known as kashi or Varanasi. It was inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi in 1921. MGKVP is run by the state government of Uttar Pradesh and is one of the largest universities in the state. MGKVP has affiliated over 350 colleges dispersed in six districts with lakhs of students so far. The University offers varied programs ranging from Arts, Science, Commerce, to Law, Computing and Management. MGKVP is recognized by (UGC) University Grant Commission and is a B+ certified University by (NAAC) National Assessment and Accreditation Council. MGKVP encourages its students and faculties to participate in research work and extra-curricular activities as well. To give every student equal opportunity MGKVP runs respective cells- Women Cell, OBC Cell, SC/ST Cell, Internal Quality Assurance Cell, Anti-Ragging Cell and Legal Cell.
