Ques. Is Commerce mandatory in Class 12 for NIU B.Com Hons admission?
Ans. Yes, NIU requires Commerce as a compulsory subject in Class 12 for admission to the B.Com Honours programme. Candidates from other streams such as Science or Arts with Commerce as an elective may check with the admissions office for eligibility. A minimum of 50 percent aggregate marks in the qualifying Class 12 examination is also required.
Ques. Can I pursue CA or CMA while studying B.Com Hons at NIU?
Ans. Yes, many students pursue CA Foundation, CMA Foundation, or CS Foundation examinations alongside their B.Com degree. The B.Com Hons curriculum at NIU covers accounting, taxation, and business law, which aligns well with the CA Foundation and Intermediate syllabus. Students should plan their exam schedule around NIU internal assessments and semester examinations to manage both effectively.
Ques. What is the difference between the 3-year and 4-year B.Com at NIU?
Ans. Under NEP 2020, the B.Com programme allows an early exit after Year 3 with a B.Com Honours degree. Staying for the fourth year results in a B.Com Honours with Research degree, which includes a research project or dissertation. The Year 4 fee is INR 92,800, making the four-year total INR 3,73,400. Students who exit after Year 3 pay INR 2,80,600 in total.
