Ques. Which is better for mechanical engineering - IIT Mandi Patna or Jodhpur?

● Top Answer By Keshav Jindal on 22 Apr 21

Ans. It is really difficult to compare three different colleges and their respective mechanical engineering branches without knowing them at a personal level. My brother was a student of IIT Jodhpur and has known its mechanical engineering branch fairly closely.  So, I can give you some facts about the branch based on his experience.  Industrial Exposure -  Companies such as Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Motors, L&T, TVS, etc. hire students from the campus under the industrial immersion program of IIT Jodhpur even from the first year itself.  Getting involved in your interest areas and live projects will give you a comprehensive insight into the industry and will enrich your learning experience while doing your B.Tech. Research Work -  There are many faculty in the institute who have done remarkable work in the fields of Thermal Engineering, Robotics, Material synthesis, and manufacturing, etc.  So, if you are considering doing a Master’s or Ph.D. after completing your graduation, then you will have an excellent opportunity for the same. Now in terms of placement, ranking, etc. you could look into the official websites of the institute and get a fair idea about the same. Read more

Ques. Which one should I choose: IIT Jodhpur, IIT Ropar CSE or IIT BHU Electrical?

● Top Answer By Rishikesh Kumar on 21 Apr 21

Ans. All of these are very good IITs and all of them will give the IIT tag and the exposure you need, but I would recommend you to go for IIT BHU electrical over IIT Jodhpur or Ropar CSE. Electrical engineering is one of the best courses and you will also get to learn some aspects of coding from computer science courses. This is very important in today's world and can be useful if you wish to get into a computer or technology-related job in the future.  Electrical and Electronics students are allowed to sit at all the campus interviews of every company including noncore companies too. This is a major advantage for electrical and electronics students to appear for more interviews and get their desired job. Moreover, in the present situation of India, most of the engineers prefer noncore jobs over core companies because they receive higher salaries and more recognition from them.  In your fourth year, you will also have core job opportunities in the campus placement drive. According to recent placement highlights of IIT BHU, many students got placed with decent CTC at core companies. Students also performed quite well in competitive examinations like GATE.  Among the given choices, IIT BHU is the oldest and have all the facilities required.  IIT BHU Electrical is definitely the better choice because of the above reasons.Read more

Ques. Which is better: IIT Jodhpur electrical or NIT Kurukshetra CSE?

● Top Answer By Supriya Sarkar on 19 Apr 21

Ans. The two things that help you choose between new IITs and old NITs (or top NITs) are the Tag Value and the Experience. Better Choice If you like to have a tag of IIT, then choosing IIT Jodhpur is a better option. But if you are comfortable with a good branch in top NITs, then NIT KKR is a better option for the long run, even though you have the option of IIT in your hand. The reason for choosing old NIT over new IIT is that the old NIT will have a well-established alumni base. Even the professors are skilled. Features of the institutes The placements of NIT KKR for CSE are excellent. The highest package of INR 43.31 LPA in NIT KKR went for CSE branch. Even the placement percentage are: Institute Branch Percentage Fees NIT KKR CSE 100% INR 2.27 Lakhs IIT Jodhpur Electrical 84% INR 2.82 Lakhs Overall, the choice depends upon the above-mentioned factors and the branch in which you are interested. In NIT KKR, there is a competitive environment in terms of study. CSE branch is the best to be pursued from NIT Kurukshetra.Read more

Ques. Which is better: CSE at IIT Jodhpur or IIT Patna?

● Top Answer By Aarushi Kalra on 26 Mar 21

Ans. One of my friends studied at IIT Patna and this might be able to help you with your question. IIT Patna has better infrastructural facilities compared to IIT Jodhpur. He has been on the campus for almost 2 years and the facilities are really really good. Whereas IIT Jodhpur has recently shifted to their new campus, so it will take time for them to adjust or maintain the new setting. IIT Patna also has 10 more seats in CSE Department than IIT Jodhpur. According to 2020  NIRF Ranking, IIT Patna (26th rank) has performed far better than IIT Jodhpur (53rd Rank). The following table gives a brief insight on both institutes: Categories IIT Jodhpur IIT Patna Course Fee 9.34 lakh 6.98 lakh Closing Rank 2020 3110 2617 Placement Percentage 70-80% 80-90% Highest CTC 14 LPA 16 LPA Average CTC 6 LPA 5-6 LPA Recruiting Companies Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, DE Shaw, Gojek, etc. Google Warsaw Poland, Goldman Sachs, Amazon, Codenation, Microsoft, etc.  If you can contact someone from IIT Jodhpur, make sure you can get a complete picture of the university. At last, both are very good colleges in India with excellent facilities and opportunities. For some, Patna is a stereotype, so don’t think in this manner as IIT Patna is a really good institute to go for.Read more

Remarks :

First of all, it is an IIT, a premium institute of our country. And out of all other IITs I chose this because I was interested in Computer Science and Engineering and for my rank (2684), this was the best possible IIT I could get.

I wanted to pursue engineering in top 4 branches (CSE,ECE,EE,Mech) and after checking that I could get EE in IIT Jodhpur and IIT Goa, I opted for IIT Jodhpur since it is well established and much older than IIT Goa. The college had excellent facilities and decent placement stats so I chose this

Remarks :

Being a science stream student it's always one's dream to study in IITs as they say its elite institute of India. And IIT Jodhpur is no more an exception to this elite group, don't get disguised by NIRF rankings its just because they give institute extremely low marks in perception. IITs are IIT for a reason and they will maintain the standards and at any costs and above that the peer you get is unmatchable.

Remarks :

Since it is an IIT and every engineering aspirant dream of being admitted, so was I. I got the opportunity to get admission after clearing jee mains and Advanced. So, I took the course. I saw opportunity in the college as it had Ac's in a a hostel, coding culture was good and one of my friends was also joining the institute. I was also adamant to take admission in the course because it was among few of the colleges where there was 4 year bioengineering course and it really pushed me to take admission in the college.

Admission :

The admission is thourough the joint entrance examination. I gave the JEE exam in the year 2018. For getting admission into IITs one need to appear for JEE mains and need to get a decent rank. Top 2 lakhs candidate are then selected for JEE Advanced. You need to have a rank under 10000 to get admission into any of the IITs. The subject you need to prepare well are Physics, Chemistry and Maths. I am enrolled in Biotechnology course in the Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur. I decided to choose this course because this course has a great scope in the coming future.

Remarks :

The overall college management is good. Although there are several incidents where the management shows inefficiency in solving the issues but overall it takes good care of all the activities going in the Institute.

Admission :

The admission to different IITs is through two tier exam structure. First a student need to qualify the JEE Main and after that JEE Advance. After qualifying these two exam one needs to attend the JOSSA Counseling after which the college and the branch is alloted.

Remarks :

Positive is that with the college there comes the so much coveted iit tag a slight negative is that there is so much construction but it is necessary for the development of the college in the coming years.
